The fact that the developers clearly knew what players would do here and them deciding to use that against us is ingeniously funny
funnier thing happened in the shrine of resurrection
He they did the shrine of resurrection dirty
And the funny thing is that the shield is still in the castle but moved to where the dock shrine was.
Assuming you took the shield in the first game, why would be there again
@@sharktenko267 what happened there? I’ve been there and it was only the yiga dude and a hot spring
I like how Link opens the chest, and the dudes are like "EVERYBODY, WAIT! LETS SEE HIS DISAPPOINTMENT!"
And then after it's done laughing at him it went "okay okay, now you die"
Emotional damage
LMAO The moment is just right.
Imagine he waiting his all life in that cage just to see this
Except that you can easily warp out of the Gloom Hands... so when I see them and don't want to fight, I just go "Zip zap ZOOM!" to the nearest shrine or tower and they despawn.
@Rowan Sharp "guys guys shhh shh shut the fuck up, just watch"
By far and away, THOSE things are the scariest enemy in the game.
First time you encounter them it's a full "WHATTHEFUCK-WHATTHEFUCK-WHATTHEFUCKISTHAT!!??!!??" and a mad dash to escape as their shrill shriek emits a blood-moon effect.
Yup, DEFINATE nightmare material
When I first saw them I thought this
"Wtf is that?! Welp, it's stuck in the malice so I can't reach me" and then I saw them form their own malice and I was like"W T FU-" And died 8 times. I killed them only to see the devs were like
"OH you defeated these little shits? Get ready for THE PHANTOM OF THE FINAL BOSS" and died
This was genuinely my exact reaction good job 👍👏
first time I encountered them the sky turned red and the malice was moving and I was like "should I be scared" and then I saw the hands crawling towards me and I'm like "I should be scared"
I just had sleep paralysis. In the hallucination, I saw one of them crawling in my bed. I need help 😭
Bro my second meeting was scarier than the first LOL. First meeting was in castle chasm, I suspected I'd see some end game shit but I wanted to explore.
The 2nd meeting however was just out in the open in broad daylight. I just wanted to walk up a hill to the shrine and it spawns right in front of me.💀
I never though I would miss the guardians…
FR lol
Yeah at least they could be cheesed lol
I'm surprised both the guardians and the divine beasts are just nowhere to be seen
@@codysvlogdaysyeah, I need to figure out where they went, like the guardians could have probably been disassembled to create the skytowers or other stuff and they can no longer be of use againsts Ganon since they can turn against the Hylieans. The divine beasts, I guess since the champions have long since past and been returned to heaven or something. The divine beasts could no longer be of use and were most likely scrapped for parts and machinery.
This is based off of what I think as I haven't encounter anything in the game or on media that talks about what happen to them
fr, like, bro i want my damn guardians back bro these gloom hands are fucking terrifying even after i got the thing needed to fight them properly
Floor/Wallmasters were creepy, but this thing is terrifying 😅
fax
the sound effect when gloom enemies awaken just haunts me
these floormasters make me wanna od
Ran into one of these things near a shrine. I yelled, fought like hell with my 4 hearts, then perished.
I had 4 hearts on my way to the east Necluda tower… It was broken. Then on my way to a shrine I found one of these. I ran away, tried to shoot the eyes, it grabbed me, reduced me to one heart, and I said “F*** It! I’m not dying here!” And teleported back to Purah.
They trolled me nonstop with botw knowledge i tried doing the water temple first....oh now this game was like "you have chosen bullet hell mode everything here will one shot you"
Same lmao but at least I got super good weapons at the start
i did the firetemple first
@whiteghostlp6447 I wish I did it either first or 2nd cuz this place was a hell of alot easier than the other 2 dungeons desert was fun but water temple while easy if I didn't have over certain number hearts sucked ass and the boss turned into an arrow sponge lol. At least gibdo queen you can get 1 or 2 melee hits in if you have the stamina the muktorok complete punishes melee.
@@RaidenKaiser i think that the water temple boss was the easyest boss
@whiteghostlp6447 I didn't think it was hard just annoying af the constructs were more of a threat than the boss
Same exact thing with the Faron durian forest. Having easy access to a dozen +4 hearty items in one spot basically broke BOTW, and it's like the developers decided to punish any players who tried to cheese through the game the same way (on top of removing durians)
they removed durians?
@@azunomesYes. They are extinct.
Man, I can't believe Link ate an entire fruit out of existence 😢
yep. first time i beat the phantom up. the durians have been avenged.
I had 4 hearts on my way to the east Necluda tower… It was broken. Then on my way to a shrine I found one of these. I ran away, tried to shoot the eyes, it grabbed me, reduced me to one heart, and I said “F*** It! I’m not dying here!” And teleported back to Purah.
me when a slight inconvenience happens in any open world game
I ran and tried to shoot the hands going to a tower but too, I was horrified cause wtf was that!? So I missed my arrow then just booked it and luckily I had something I could climb cause I wasn't all the way to the tower so I climb this small part of the cliff and run away and refuse to check how close it is cause its so fast and I was scared turning would slow me down and it'd catch me. I ran till I was outta stamina and now I'm just dodging gloom, I refuse to get near that shit in any shape or form.
I saw one, and I was like "Nope! I'm out of here!"
@@GirlPowerFlower Same here! The first time I encountered them was up on the Akkala Citadel Ruins when I was trying to reach its Shrine. Scared the crap out of me! I tried outrunning them, gave up after running out of stamina and paused the game *just* before one of them was about to grab me, opened the map and warped away. I did get to that Shrine later, and without having to fight them to boot! When I activated the region's tower, I took advantage of it shooting me up to sail on over to and land in front of it.
"IM SCARED, I NEED MY MOMMY, PURAH!"
The halirous part is that it's actually even easier to get the Hylian shield in TOTK than it is in BOTW. Like much easier. You can very easily get it at the very beginning of the game.
I mean you can get it at the start in both games.
@@gooeyPhantasm Yeah but the Stalnox is honestly a joke.
You can still get the Shield in the same area instead it's in the back port you'll still have to fight a Phantom Ganon along the way but after that light the brazier and a chest will rise up and you can get the Shield.
W mans!!!!
How to fight against this hands from ganon? Is there a simple way to defeat them? And Phantom ganon?
@@VictorAp12 the hardest part are the hands it's hard to reach them so I suggest a spear or if you have good amount of arrows and bombs just bomb arrow them from range for the fight proper against phantom just read his attacks and dodge and try not to stand in the gloom too much.
@@loganswalk8621 ok, I'll try this, thank you for the tips
@@loganswalk8621 I just climbed the walls around and it never got to me
I encountered this thing in one of the mazes on the ground. Headed straight to the middle, got the shrine, came back out.
Then this thing spawned, so I decided to fight it.
I beat it.... And then boss music started.
It's Phantom Ganon. 💀
Yyyyup. man got smart with his anti-link defenses.
I found the ganon pretty easy.
Then again I have done the mid game boss
Spoilers:
there's a total of 10 phantom ganons.
Same here, Like I was dying to these things a lot and just went "OKAY THATS IT IM BOMBING THESE" and used most of my bomb flowers, once the final one was dead i was like "WOO I GOT GUD" then phantom ganon appeared and I cried and regretted all my life decisions as i proceeded to fight him again and again until i won, until one moment where i decided to just be a troll and climb the maze and snipe them from above,... Turns out if you leave phantom ganon alone, he covers the entire area with gloom.
Me hanging off the maze walls hoping to god I have enough stamina to climb the fuck away haha
@@Kat-mu8wq theres only 10?!?!?! And I feel like I've run in to at least 20 lmao
The first time I ran into one of these things was in Hyrule field next to a shrine. I only had four hearts, and one wheel of stamina. And let me tell you, it was absolutely fu**ing terrifying. Nintendo gets an A plus on this one for atmosphere, and for scaring my balls off.
Yeah, I wasn't that bothered until I found out I absolutely could not outrun them lmao
I love how it plays a little bit of the legendary jingle before switching to the normal one.
No it doesn't. That's just part of the "You're screwed" ( aka Gloom Spawn battle ) theme. The timing is just convenient.
Accidentally found one in the zone right in front of the source if strength. The worse? i didnt knownthey existed. i was looking around, exploring when I stopped as i found the atmosphere strange. No birds were chirping despite being literally next to a forest.
it was making me a bit nervous so i decided to teleport away. The camera went to Link and i saw it.
Gloom Hands RIGHT BEHIND Link looking at him.
I marked the place as poopoo and I'm never going back there
Fuse a sapphire to a stick or something, and then you have a method of freezing them and running before they can kill you next time, because yes, there are multiple places they can show up to chase you. usually around shrines or around hyrule castle
@@AveryTomfoolerySpecialist3682 I already know that. I've been farming dark clumps on the gloom hands I've found at the source of strength. Been bullying em after every blood moons
I hid until it rained and halled ass to the shrine. Got it and ran like a lil bitch 😂😂😂
The issue here is that they seem to spawn at random, I've been seeing them all over the places, and I used to think the daddy 8 legged Guardian is scary 💀
How do you kill those things? I shoot bomb fruit at them, fire and dazzle fruit seem to do nothing either
@@GenjiPrimeYeah, seems like you need to kill them all at once, otherwise the hands all respawn after a little while
And that's not even all!
I just found some of these in my play-through, and they blocked the entrance to the cave I was in. I had no choice but to fight them to get out and actually managed to take out all but 1 of them, ONLY FOR THE LAST ONE TO GO THROUGH MITOSIS AND CREATE MORE!!!
Be lucky that you didn't kill the last hand. because then it spawns in phantom ganon if you kill them all.
You can just about always Ascend out of caves.
You could've just opened the Purah Pad and teleportef away
@@AveryTomfoolerySpecialist3682 phantom Ganons actually a fun fight, gets you pretty good weapons too
the hands actively heal if you take too long to kill them all. i know because i killed the one in the video through the door... if you don't use a high enough damage weapon it'll just heal endlessly and laugh at you
and then when the hands are dead, phantom ganon will just phase straight through the door lmfao
One of the creepiest things i fought in video games ever, i fought them in the korok Forrest and i managed to headshot them but they were really close, of course they got me and killed me a few times
that's why u always carry a blizzard rod around. or in totk case, a sapphire fused to a magic rod
@@pudinkeviar4151 yeah, I died a bunch of times until I realized that you can freeze them or stun them and it gets a lot easier
@@pudinkeviar4151 you're telling me that there was an alternative to dying like a little bitch all this time?
Ive only encountered it once on the surface, i was caught off gaurd and quicklt lising hearts before realizing what to do so i teleported out
I was in some ruins out in the overworld, it was especially creepy for me cause the entire weather and sky changed when they showed up.
I’ve beaten every mainline Zelda since ocarina of time. I’ve fought hands and similar blight before. The first time I saw these I thought it would be similar. My goodness was I wrong. When I finally got confident/strong enough that I thought I could finally beat them (multiple meals later naturally) I was ecstatic after finally nuking the hell out of a group of them with bomb arrows after a tough fight where they kept grabbing me, respawning, etc…. Then I saw a health bar appear at the top of my screen… I rarely just teleport away from fights because I find it to be cheap… but there’s a point where a tactical retreat is not just an option but a necessity.
When my best weapons are barely denting that health bar and each attack is wiping out almost my entire health? It’s time to retreat.
i felt the same at first but if you use ice chuchu jelly or ice fruit, it basically immobilizes them and they become a lot easier to kill with a heavy weapon. this game rly throws you into terrifying situations but also equips you with ways to overcome them
Man’s did all that for Fabric 😂
i’m sayin bruh 😂😭
I thought I’d check out Mekar island and this mofo showed up. Barely scrambled up the tree due to rain, naturally, and somehow lasted long enough for it to despawn…
Fml not since alien isolation was I legit terrified in a game.
damn. noted 😂
@@riqoz if you don't know how to flurry rush consistently do NOT kill all of the hands when it spawns.
if all of the hands are defeated it spawns in phantom ganon afterwards.
I understand the feeling. I went to go check if one of my food farms was still there. Only to discover the food is gone and this very boss was there waiting. Rip food farm. You served me well.
Durians?
@@ironrj1085 Yes
I had a similar encounter, it was just in a random spot in the overworld. There's a floating shrine near kakariko village with roots hanging off of it, and i was trying to climb it with the early game stats. I fall down and see this thing as it's rappidly aproaching, and i legit panicked. I climbed up the root till i had a sliver of stamina left and waited to see if it'd despawn. It did after a bit, but like.. bruh what did i just witness. Lol
Same!
that was the first time i saw them too, i ran away like a baby and abandoned my horse lol theyre too scary
Yup. First place I spotted them too! Second time was close to Hateno Village by a small forest west of the village. I was heading into the woods, and just briefly saw the hands and I duked it way in the opposite direction! The gloom hands are just as fast as your run speed! Its a miracle I managed to get onto a small cliff they couldnt climb onto. I waited there and after a bit they had evaporated, leaving only a dark clump behind
Lmao same, little assholes ambushed me while I was trying to get up there so I teleported the fuck outta there because I was out of bomb fruits lol
Died for fabric 😭
mann 😭
Those hands are easier when you learn that climbing a nearby wall and waiting a bit will, in most cases, make them go away. With the exception of at least one quest related one they are set to despawn in a short enough time that killing them with multi-shot bomb arrows before that happens isn’t always quick enough.
I found one of these in a cave while exploring, thought itd be an easy in and out nothing big... somehow I didnt notice or aggro them on my way to this underground shrine i found, i left the shrine turned to leave and i heard the most ungodly horrific sound of my life.... i was stuck there for a long time trying to kill them, finally i did and a blood moon happened immediately respawning them. finally round 2 done and they shit out a phantom ganon. i said fuck it and just loaded my save from leaving the shrine and kept all the weapons and arrows i used lol
Yeah the thing is that they don't need to SEE you. They SENSE you. Was hidden when I tried to see if I could snap a pic and they still started to chase me
@@blue_luxbtw, you can't snap a pic of them, only what comes NEXT. Trust me I would know as a veteran
lemme guess. Near Hebra?
My first encounter was probably shortly before or after the moon showed up, I look at the moon quite soon after seeing the sky turn red running from you-know-who, and I wonder if the damn thing forces a blood moon. So I'd say I had one of the best first impressions of that thing. I just wish I wasn't spoiled on phantom Ganon when I decided I would cure the great deku tree
It was the opposite for me: I was exploring this area to find the Shrine (without realizing that it's up in the actual castle) and ended up finding the Hylian Shield by pure coincidence!
His scream at the end 😂😂
OG Link never gets old
Every time I see a peaceful empty clearing, I’m like “it’s gloom hands time isn’t it, just attack me already.”
First time I found one of them was in the basement of the Akkala labyrinth. I also learned that those things are at their most terrifying when you're on even ground. If you manage to find a hole or platform with no gradual slopes in/onto it though, they're a joke.
This isn't the only spot they do this, spoilers below
the hearty durian farm near the botw faron has been replaced by gloom hands as well
I FIRST FOUND JT IN A CAVE.
hearty durians have also unfortunately been entirely removed from the game as well. big sad
Ah yes, the Gloom spawn. First time I encountered this nightmare hellspawn was in Lake Kolomo just exploring around. Then this horrific creature from the pits appeared and... well I died but it was definitely a "WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THINGS IS THAT!" reaction from me.
Love how this game just did a complete "forget everything you ever learned." I'm exploring so much more in this game that I did in botw
Wallmasters and Redeads/Gibdos come back with a vengeance in this game.
Good to know that they made them even more terrifying than in my childhood years of playing wind waker.
Redeads? Oh hell no.
@@spacebearcadet746I found one SKYWARD deep below Hyrule Castle, and if you didn't come prepared, (I was only at 5 hearts,) only headshots can kill them. Nothing else WORKS.
that was hilarious, the editing was perfect
I found one of those hand things in by a gate heading towards Rito village. Scared the absolute shit out of me.
This is a certified bruh moment.
ong 💀
They warned us by saying “forget everything you know about botw” and they meant that
It’s actually easier to get the shield this time around remember where the castle shrine was in BOTW with the secret entrance at the dock? Go there and light the 2 braziers there. On your way there are Gloom Hands but for some reason they died instantly for me. Idk what happened they saw me they screeched at me then died. I got a gem or something.
the gloom hands give up and despawn if they can't reach you, leaving behind a glowing dark clump as a reward. easy enough to accomplish if there's any ledge around to climb up, and i think the water in the docks does it too, and they also get confused by the stairs there- they're not always sure how to navigate them and can just give up.
First time I saw these was in that maze area and it scared the shit out of me. Like I literally got goosebumps, I felt something was watching me from behind, I whispered under my breath “what the fuck”, and then I immediately used ascend to get out of there.
I also found this fuckin thing in a maze bro, scared the piss outta me LMAO
I was lucky I had Tulin's ability to help me kinda outrun it for a bit so I was able to find an ascend spot
A very hilarious video- those gloom/malice hands scare the crap outta me... 😬
Great editing. Keep up the good work
Yeah now the shield is where the shrine used to be
I accidentally found it I was skock😂😂😂
Damn I found the hylian shield completely by accident. Didn't even see the gloom hands around, I just lit a few torches. 😅
Lucky you . I met that shit outside , ran for my life. I miss the guardians ☠️☠️☠️ At least we were warned when they spotted us 💀
@@Lostouille piano still haunts me to this day tho
I’m not gonna lie: I went there expecting the shield. But I was even MORE excited when I found the fabric. It’s probably my favorite in the whole game
The usage of memes in this video is impeccable.
There is also a boss that can give you OP stuff like a sword and a bow that deal more damage if you have more health
(Ghost of Ganon or something like that)
phantom ganon, also you need to kill those for him to spawn
There are weapons from Phantom Ganon that are powerful but each damage you deal will, in return, deal gloom damage to you. The bow dropped by Phantom Ganon will increase it’s damage depending on how much max hearts you have
@theawsomecheese9714 fun fact, each Phantom Ganon location seems to have a set weapon type, though I'm unsure if it's determined on a per file basis
For example, in my game one of the locations in Hyrule Field will always spawn a Phantom Ganon using the Gloom Spear. I jave one in Akkala that always spawns using the Gloom Club. Helpful for replacing the specific weapon you want!
I have so SO many Demon King's Bows though...
Glad I watched this was gunna go there after I got the master sword lmfao
lmaoo
I found it in the Lomei Labyrinth, it grabbed me completely by surprise while I was trying to light a campfire
SPOILER, NEW LOCATION OF HYLIAN SHIELD:
There's a cave at -0145, 1085, 0063 (right below the castle, but not on the depths), if you follow the path you'll find your way to a room with a bonfire that you'll have to lit up in order for the Chest with the Shield to appear
Btw this monstuosity is there as well lmao
@@nitroturbo7248 Is it? I didn't come across it at all (or maybe I ran, can't remember)
Where the shrine used to be
If you manage to kill those hand things a phantom ganon shows up with a giant hp pool. I was early game, took me all my equipment to kill those hand things and then when hit phantom ganon it barely hit him I was like nah bro Im gonna reload my save bro I want my equipment back I don't wanna take this on
YET
I'll have my revenge
if you want spoilers i can tell you how to get the(now super op) master sword early into the game.
Stock up on items that give you extra stamina, go to death mountain, and wait for a dragon to show up. fly onto the dragon's head, and the master sword will be waiting there, where another sequence will start where you need at the least two full stamina wheels to spare and then bam, master sword.
you can also fuse items ONTO the master sword, which buffs it's damage even more than it's already pretty good base damage.
@@AveryTomfoolerySpecialist3682 I already did at this point
But thank you
For anyone in the comments (spoiler)
The dragon has to be the light dragon, not din.
😂😂😂 that's too funny, especially considering the lengths he went through for that disappointment 😂😂
The Jimmy neutron brain blast got me 😂
suddenly I miss guardians, they were kinda cute in comparison
The funny thing is that the shield is still in the castle, they just moved it to the docks instead and also guarded it with Gloom Hands.
Lmfao didn’t even know that fabric was there thanks bro😂
It's a neat detail that the hylian shield is actually obtained
...the same way you unlocked the underground castle shrine in botw
...except now there are gloom hands there too :(
The game does this kind of shit CONSTANTLY! It happens in multiple places on the Great Plateau, it happens in Korok Forest, it happens at the lab (the one in the far northeast corner. Not the one at Hateno). It even happens here! I just gotta keep it real with you, this crap actually incentivizes me to not re-explore the entire map. I almost know something is just gonna kick my ass with very little reward at the end! 🤬
Personally I disagree. Revisiting places and seeing what has changed about it is more fun then revisiting and seeing no changes. I do understand your frustration though and your opinion is still valid
When I first encountered the wall masters on my way to the Lanayru tower I got legit scared. Way more than any Guardian . Trying to kill them like in Wind Waker with Ice Arrows was not really effective when there are like 4 of them
Damn I would've never thought of killing Wind Waker floormasters with ice arrows
I KILLED TBEM AND IT GOT WORSE
those things give me nightmares, 100% the most scary enemy in any zelda game.
I wish I could like this video more than once. That was really funny!
I miss guardians. They were everywhere but they were avoidable and you could run from them. Then when you got good enough you could kill them relatively easily. Gloom hands seem to be just as hard as they were day one without any sign of getting easier.

I figured the Hylian Shield would be in a different place and I was legit happy to find that fabric because I wanted one with the crest on it
I expended a lot of energy to get to Tarrey Town... only to discover that the Great Fairies have all moved!
The area where we used to farm hearty durains ALSO has gloom hands. They ABSOLUTELY knew the places we'd check first
I went back to the Great Plateau thinking it was safe only to find it crawling with Yiga and tough Bokoblins.
the fucking screams in the end lmaooo
Once you have hearts to burn and/or the armor of the depths, facing these things becomes a lot less scary. Its kinda like the Guardians, where at some point you start standing your ground and it feels really rewarding.
my first encounter was near a tower west of Hyrule. I ascended just in time and waited until they vanished. Other times I teleported out like a baby
Without a doubt a "ye-owch" moment
The real treasure were the friends you made along the way

The jimmy neutron brain blast was so good
I had a heart attack when this came after me, never scurried up a pillar so fast
First time I saw one of these I was laying in bed in the pitch dark at like 2am. Don’t remember where exactly, maybe Great Plateau? One look and I noped out of there back to Lookout Landing. Slept with the lamp on that night…
there was like half a second of the legendary theme too 😭
