- In today's KSP video, I had a lot of fun with this mission. It's a simple-but-satisfying rover mission to Eve, deployed by an SSTO!

Create an SSTO which can deliver another SSTO to EVE!
Which can deliver a ssto to duna
Oh good grief you don't ask for much! đ€Ł

Eve: "it's a very forgiving place to visit for beginners"
-M. Lowne 2021
Very easy to land on, the hardest to escape. Sending a robotic probe there is one of the easiest interplanetary missions you can do
@@onyxzheng347 The easiest to land on in terms of delta v required. If you did not sufficiently prepare for the atmosphere, it is impossible to land on, which most beginners may underestimate.
I just use Moar Boasters!
Leaving is the issue. Entering is just using a big heatshield, a parachute and praying
@@notoriousgoblin83 "entering is just using..." Yeah, tell that to every SSTO that's landed on Eve. Why can't we have heat shield panels for once?
I love SSTO's. I'm new to KSP and still figuring out how to fly properly but I've been watching your videos for a a few years and learning lots from them. Keep up the good work.
Yep I'm pretty much in the same boat my guy
I've got a couple of thousand hours under my belt, but still working on how to do SSTO'S properly. Thanks Matt for an Eve version
I'm a simplerockets 2 player but I too watch to learn also for inspiration.
I always burn through too much fuel with my SSTO when getting into orbit and then only have enough to deorbit. Might finally be able to get to Minmus where I could refuel.
@@stevk5181 I think that's all an SSTO has to do anyway so, Good Job, to go anywhere else with it just refuel the thing.đ
Matt, the engine sound bug is in the stock game, doesn't have anything to do with any mods whatsoever. Te fairing base is doing OK because the heatshield; although depleted still resists the heat to some extend, better have a depleted heatshield than none at all.
A dragonfly style drone would be ideal to explore Eve.
I've been having that issue on stock, do you know how to fix it?
would love to know a solution to the bug, if there is one, but so far i'm happy to hear it's not from a mod
STOCK ENGINGE GLITCH!? NO! I play stock and I haven't got it yet
Matt: *gets the intro right on the second attempt*
Matt: âthat was much more concise, Well done Mattâ
Matt: âthanks you (Matt)â
Matt: âJust gotta remeber to cut off that partâ
Still Matt: *forgets to cut both the âfailedâ intro and his alter ego*
P.s.: we still love you how you are đ
He spoke from 4 different perspectives
0:39 lol
He forgor to cut it out. đ
"Were is my package"
Postman matt: yes
It's a bit crispy, but at least it's there on time!
Kerbal mail wy get it to in the crispieast!
the closest IRL analog to this mission I can think of is the Magellan satellite which flew to Venus and was launched from the Space Shuttle. I know the Shuttle isn't an SSTO but it's the closet thing to one we have at the moment.
I love it when he talks posh, it's amusing (and quite possibly endearing as well)
In âDuna Attacksâ you launched a bomber from the island airfield
This is true.
Ye he did
I literally came back here to look for this comment since I forgot to last time
Me: Is bored on a saturday
Matt: This will never do!
Ye#
I like the A-10 Warthog mention. did you know that the gun un the front produces 5 tons of recoil, and the engines only produce 4 tons of thrust each? cool
I remember talking to Matt briefly on his discord server way back when that started. He's pretty chill as you'd expect. Should have prepared some questions in hindsight, but we move.
When Matt said he pulled that number out of thin air he was literally in thin air
That's a very "NASA" approach, maybe except for the SSTO.
If the Thunderbirds had a eighth vehicle, and it was an SSTO, Iâd imagine it function in a similar way that yours did, dropping payloads from Thunderbird 2-like modular drop pods. Even took off/landed off of Tracy Island!
The Blunderbirds!!!!!!!!!
that's it's name? cool
@@dimihohota9942 ha! funny
Another KSP spacecraft launch! Excellent!
I never get tired of watching Matt play KSP
Now this is what I needed this Saturday thanks for the uploads!
Always brightens my day when I see an upload
"all the way back in 2018, which was, I'm gonna say, 6 months ago, that's when 2018 was so I don't feel too bad about my life disappearing before my very eyes" damn that hit hard
The best small cars are designed around their interiors, and I'm sure many of the best larger cars too. I'm sure it's a good way to design a spaceplane because it means you're not making it larger than you have to.
Edit 4 months later: Why didn't I say how much I love the intro on this one? It's one of my favourites; it reminds me of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and all the best kids books of my childhood! XD
Can we just stop to take a second and realise it's great having this sharp footage, I don't know why it's so clear but I like it.
I got that sound issues you were talking about long before I downloaded any mods so waterfall may not be the thing causing problems for you.
Such a cool idea for a interplanetary cargo drop! Nice job Matt
This is most epic, splendid video it shall most certainly be
@Plant nobody asked you either
I really enjoy your videos, thank you for making them!
This channel is definitely worth binge watching
I love the build parts!keep up the good work :D đ
When @Matt Lowne uploads you know its gonna be great! :)
I love your videos! Always enjoy them! Never stop.
"Oh cool, what kind of mod it is?"
Matt: "It's wOtErFul"
My sstos all have forward swept wings since it looks cooler. As a result, I got used to getting the cg good on them. Really good learning trick
The communicatons dish looks cool on the rover
Looks cool
What a bold concept.
Great vid!
"A one-way mission like this!"
Kerbals in the cockpit:
Keep up the great work Matt!
I also have the no-sound-on-the-engines bug, and I don't have the waterfall mod Matt
nice
I also don't use any mods but I have the same bug.
If you find the ship wobbling, you can lower the authority limiter of the control surfaces. That way, they not only have a smaller range of movement, they also move proportionally less.
Awesome channel!
I can't wait to see you become more popular
Turbo Space Burger missions? What? Ok the CC on this video is freaking hilarious!
I can't imagine being good as matt lowne. Luv ur vid bro!!!
Idk how the hell you keep making these amazing SSTOâs but man, keep doing it, ur amazing
Enjoying this while i eat gourmet food. A hot pocket
Always enjoy your SSTO videos. I have never successfully made and flown one to orbit. The best Iâve done is a high altitude aircraft đ.
This is my third time watching a video in Matt's sound bug saga
Cool video!
The rover looks like a big tardigrade!
Loved the video!!!
Matt is definitely the Grian of KSP
Love the vids
This video got a thumbs up for referring to "building an airplane around the payload" as the "A-10 approach."
Canât wait for ksp 2 to come out and Matt blow up again
dad:how much matt lowne do you watch?
me:YES
The engine plumes look great
Don't stress yourself.
I love the game and enjoy your videos
I love the video. I will admit from the thumbnail and title I was thinking it would be more like the scene in âthe Incrediblesâ when Mr Incredible starts his first mission by shooting out of a plane with rockets and then helicopter blades deploy to carry him to the island⊠maybe an idea for a future video? Maybe on Laythe?
3:37 yeah you can thank America for that one because that's how the A-10 warthog was built
Hello, Going to be an amazing video as always :)
Oh yeah finally a ksp video
Remember a KSP short from squad, where they deliver a surprise package to eve for jeb, bob & bill :-) And did the kerbal falcon heavy center core landed in the island runway
Yey hes back
Try making a small rover that can also be used as a boat for eve! Just a small idea, it might not work but with your skill you can make almost anything work, you inspired me to get ksp too and i have just shot up my second sattelite! Anyways, keep up the amazing content!
Can't wait for your k2 content
Love from Turkey!
I left this channel for 2 months because I stopped playing KSP and got a bit bored of it, but now Iâm back. Your videos are cheerful as always. In the next KSP video you could pick up that piece of debris, but at the same time, it would have vaporised in Eveâs atmosphere
Why even Matt literally is addicting to the game
If you took a year or even more off then continued making videos later I would continue watching, I could never unsub from you Matt. I hope you continue to enjoy making your KSP videos for a long time
i wonder how if you ever tried FAR... for those who do not know what FAR is, it enhances aerodynamics. some people does not explain it good enough or make it seem unplayable...
basically the biggest fundamental change is that you got a bit more forces when going super sonic that can break ships, next you got dead air (the inside of a cargo bay is dead air, behind the ship as well.) and finally there is better supersonic behavior since there is a shock cone!
so this said, 95% of ships made on stock will work mostly the same except if the wings are inside the body (dead air) or when turning really sharp and hiding a wing from the air flow. (dead air)
reason i started to use FAR was due to the crappy cargo bay behavior not hiding the parts properly when using sections. but ship like those really intrigue me on how they would behave!
Epic
10:20 I like the mission concept too!
19:41 yes. I am in fully beliefing this.
I miss these type of videos
You should try some of the other hidden launch sites on Kerbin, like the one at the crater lake.
helicopters can be much more efficient than rovers in the atmosphere of EVE
I have spent hours trying to get my rover onto Eve that atmosphere is wicked
Just use a big heat shield, a parachute system and a prayer
Me: thinking Iâm amazing for landing on the moon
Also me: oh right Matt exists
YOU'RE THE BEST!! GOOD CoNTENT!
Great vid got to love space planes also how Do you make KSP full screen?
This is the most classic type of matt lowne videos.
Any rocket that makes it home is a good rocket, cool flips did the pilot throw up? lolđđ****8888****
That rover is so cute it's like a space puppy đ
Itâs just a mess of robotic parts?? I mean if you were an engineer youâd find it nice because itâs compact but Iâd suffer a heart attack from the mess while looking at itđ
u can just reduce the authority limiter if elevons
nice
"I should probably talk about this later but I'll probably be in a tangent about whisky by then so-"
This game looks sooo nice with ur add-ons. Which add-ons u use ? And itâs possible to make a video tutorial how to install those add-ons ?
Good morning from Texas
i'm still thinking about making a little drone hub that can dock up to 4 tiny electric drones that can fly around in low atmosphere planets and do research.
15:53 you just killed it ! :(
the ATHMOSPHERE Scan thing
Matt you should build the AN 227 with a shuttle on the back
matt:ah this will not do got restart
me:you didnt realize u frickin didnt cut the recording!
Yes
I once lost an entire mission on eve because I ran in to my own heat shield I ejected 30 seconds earlier. 2 years and I havenât gone back
Was it on hard?
Hey Matt, did you know you can limit the range of any control surface much like air brakes.
I been having the same issue with sound with stock and modded part with waterfall
Nice!
Early reply
@Plant random ass person caring about a mfing comment
@Plant just describing you
I guess you will have to do a debris cleanup mission now
