  • Someone asked me if I had any casual decks. And how I build them. I started building on this deck during neon dynasty when we got some really cool new legendary lands with channel. It is a sisay 5 colored valakut deck!

    Cool! Years ago I had a very similar deck with Golos (r.i.p.) as a commander. The basic idea was the same: tutor valakut (or urborg, coffers etc), usually with Golos, and "hack" your lands to make them do what you need them to.

      I actually did make a varient with this with Golos to actually.

      I am still mad about the Golos ban, the reasoning and everything around it was just stupid

    Really interesting and funny deck idea. If you can come up with a way to kill the table that also makes them laugh and be ok with getting killed you’ve made something truly great.

    Love this deck idea. I was already running sissay gates, but now I’m going to include some valakut shenanigans.

    For some extra jank:
    There is a red Urborg, it's Blood Moon! Of course, people would rightly point out that Blood Moon also shuts off Valakut. BUT, only if Valakut is nonbasic land. We need to get rid of the Land type while keeping its abilities. The easiest way to do this to animate the Valakut into a creature, then use Swift Reconfiguration, One with the Stars, or everyone's favorite Mutate a creature on top. Valakut now works with Blood Moon.
    Of course there a many downsides such shutting off the rest of the land tutor package, but just tossing this out there :P

      hahaha fun! I don't like it. But I mean. If your going to play casual you should suprise and impress. Stupid combos are the best sometimes.

    Hi Mans, it's very funny that I'm rebuilding my Pako/Haldan Valakut list right now! Currently, I am putting together a 5c Valakut deck with Kyodai (to give indestructible). One of my win cons is milling myself out, and casting splendid reclamation from the graveyard with underworld breach. Great video!

    Great VDO Love to hear a new content from you but.....
    I Just Wonder, How you define "Casual deck" ? To me this deck still look like at least low level competitive deck

    • @cedhtv
      @cedhtv  Před 2 lety

      Yeah I know. This is somewhat high powerd I think. I think it is hard to define casual honestly.

  • @Serouzo
    @Serouzo Před 2 lety +1

    Here's a super random and probably really bad idea: Can you run Orvar in the 99? It's tutorable by Sisay (probably really hard or impossible to achieve that condition though) and then it turns all your hack spells that make copies of Valakut/Field of the Dead as well so it makes them less useless depending on situation

    I feel like if they were gonna print another one of those lands that give a land type it would be white since blue would be too strong for merfolk and red would be too strong for valakult sadly. But white would be okay I don't see it getting broken.

    • @cedhtv
      @cedhtv  Před 2 lety

      Yeah white should be fine.

    • @mckfencer
      @mckfencer Před 2 lety

      They could maybe print something red/white/blue urborg variants in an eternal product. Something that doesn't go into modern. I doubt that would cause many problems

    • @cedhtv
      @cedhtv  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah I could ask people if they are OK with urbor say mountain instead of swamps. Some might say yes. I think the deck will be decent and far from broken so they should be OK with it.
