- Complete coverage of the Austrian Oak, Event 2 from the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic in Columbus, Ohio (March 3, 2023). In this challenge, each competitor gets one shot for max reps on the famed 430 LB log bar, and then a second run at a "lighter" 385 LB log.
Coming off great showings in the Wheel of Pain earlier in the day, Trey Mitchell and Mitchell Hooper kept the momentum going in this final event of Day One, while Bobby Thompson and Rob Kearney turned around their slow starts by leapfrogging back into the mix.

Thank you for putting this on CZcams you guys are killing wsm
giants live and wsm are garbage compared to what rouge is doing for the sport
Can i ask, what is wrong with WSM? I genuinely dont know. I always thought it was THE competition that most strongman try to get to?
It's a dope competition for sure they don't air it till way after the show not easy to access they should put it on CZcams sure they would make a lot because a lot of people would be stoked to see it there on some bullshit
@@aaronpedigo987 ohhh that makes sense. Honestly, i agree. I always hear about WSM but could never find videos of it. I do wish they would put it on CZcams at least. Thanks for explaining that, I appreciate it!
@CatchYaLater Fishing that's because GL is part of official strongman, WSM is to do with the cost, it costs more apparently to put together the event
Luke going nuts on the light log was such a great ending. Having a good time and putting on a good performance is what it's all about.
Mr Showman!
Super rough for mateusz you can tell hes holding back. doesnt wanna risk reinjurying that Tricep
So weird to see Luke struggling in the log
Big pause from lifting and he's little older.
I just hope he prepares properly for the next year.
Yep. Almost shocking. Wonder what's up?
Yep. And to this level.
@@demetriuscooksey7147 Sometimes you just have a bad day, mate.
He got smoked from his all-out exertion in the Wheel of Pain. I feel bad for the bloke; he left NOTHING on the table.
Mitch Hooper's press was rivetting! The mental fortitude to re-rack and save those reps. man, oh, man... I'm still freaking out about it :D
ZYDRUNAS Big Z did 4 with the 205 kilo log 450lbs . World record of 2015 if I'm correct
2015 and 2016
@@CWPWWRESTLING and still WR , 2023
Yes! 20lbs. Heavier than what these men are struggling with! Their not fit to kiss Zadrunas shoes! At 451 none would get even get one rep.
4:10 Thompson (USA 🇺🇸)

Appreciate the stamps
Thank you!
Tom Stoltman actually at 24:08.
Luke Stoltman in the retry at 51:05.
Thank you for streaming this on CZcams!!!!
Loz improves the commentary by 10 fold. So knowledgeable and intume with each competitor
The event organizers should have put the pure strength (log lift) event first. The wheel of pain, which they did just before this is essentially an overhead and leg burnout! I'm still grateful for being able to watch this for free though! Great job to the athletes.
@@SvenTheShoeBuyer personally I think wheel of pain should be the last event overall. Let's see who can truly push through that unbearable pain and endure long enough to pull out a victory after a long competition
Mitchell's 3rd is right out of the clean and press book from the 1970-1972 book there!
Awesome lift!
Enjoying having Jerry Pritchett on commentary! Looks great at the table too.
Love Jerry’s commentating. He’s one of the most experienced Arnold’s strongman classic competitors of all time. He knows his stuff and his cadence great. I never would have caught some of the things he is pointing out. I hope he continues doing it for many years to come. Love seeing the other strongmen involved that aren’t actually competing
Production quality is unbelievable
That new guy who won the amatuers, did awesome. I mean, they talk about wasted energy on a failed attempt. The second attempt was smooth. Great lift.
205 kg × 4 by Z will never be broken.
He is the strongest human ever born off of the shoulders and one of the strongest ever in everything else
Trey Mitchell!!! What a dominant performance. He made those four look easy - he had 5 in him if he had to. I'm convinced.
Luke Stoltman giving the crowd what they came for, but wauw Trey Mitchell now thats amazing.
Gotta think the poor performances on this event had something to do with the wheel being the event prior.. maybe the guys burned their shoulders out.
And legs.
It would have more been the legs and just the lungs. Can't get as good a breathe, can't get as get as good a leg drive which is just way too important.
The fact that zydrunas is still so far ahead on this even is crazy
It is crazy that they removed 450lbs , cause no one can lift it except Big Z
@@SilentTaljiGamingIn fairness it has been lifted by other lifters but Z was the only one to rep it.
does anybody know why iron biby never competes anymore?
thanks for uploading
Trey is such a monster
That log seems to have a curse on it. Last year I was rooting for JF Caron and he got a career-ending injury on it, this year I was rooting for Luke Stoltman and he got so dizzy he couldn't even make one rep.
The men's event videos are getting 10x the views 😂
Like in most sports
WSM needs to get on this level.
great video!
Good video.

Deam Luke lift was heart breaking
Trey has to win WSM soon.
Aaargh, Luke. God damn, he just doesn't have the luck on the day. Real bad order of events too - wheel of pain shouldn't be the opener for the whole event.
Trey killed this one even more
Gutted for Luke 😢
Polish terminator not quite there. 😣 maybe its mental. Im certainly not anywhere near this level, but i hurt my back deadlifting. Spent the night on the floor. Spasms with the slightest movement. But the mental toll.... it took me almost an entire year to even attempt a deadlift. I did trapbar deads to go easy on my back. After another 6 months, my mind clicked over to positivity. Years later, and i was getting quite strong and then bam covid. No gym. Now, aftee covid ive hit a 160kg pull, 170kg off blocks and a 200kg rack pull at 78kg bw. Lighter and stronger than before. The body heals, but the mental battle takes longer.
wheel of pain should not have been first imo
Anyone watching this getting ready for this weekend? Btw, Loz was wrong about Zydrunas. Big Z lifted this log at 205 kg for 4 reps.
I miss the old-school WSM done in a parking lot of a casino.
Nice 👍
Strong
Bon courage 💪
WOW CANT EVEN COUNT LUKE STOLTMAN FIVE REPS LEGIT HE JUST DID 6 SO FIRE THAT GUY
Trey is in amazing shape, after this performance he didn't even look winded.
I don't understand why the organizers put the WOP ahead of the log, that baffles me, as well as the guys im sure.
Lol luke is just happy to get paid to train for WSM. But seriously hate when they start a day with a for distance event that kills performance for the rest of the day.
I'm just wondering if Hawthorne learn what double-dipping is
Mitch Hooper is a great strongman
where is iron biby
in a world full of opinions i just want to see big lads lift big weight, lets go
Trey breaking Big Z's log record AFTER the Wheel of Pain... just crazy.
Oh stop your incoherent babbling. Nobody's buying your B.S.
Who decided that 10 reps with 385 lbs are equivalent to 430 lbs? This is totally unfair! According to the "One Rep Max" formula, 10 reps with 325 are equivalent to one with 430! So 5 reps with 385 should count as one with 430...
What happens if he actually gets 11 reps on the light log?
Where is Novikov?
Trey hype
Why weight is decreased ? the hell I swear last Austrian log weight was 450 lbs ( 205kg) not 430 lbs ( 195kg), atleast when Big Z was competing and lifted it x4 times
Kielich dawaj
Could Vokivon not get out of military service to compete? Is that why he’s not there?
I don't think he has any duties in the military. He said he can do much more for his country by doing what he does best and not being a soldier.
@@maciejguzek3442 why wasn’t he at the Arnold, though?
@@trevorrisley5419 his recent vid titles say that he is preparing for WSM. So I guess he just made a decision to focus on the other big competition and not ASC this year. Guess he knows what he is doing.
Luke is still the best man for this Austrian Oak Log Press event. 6 good lifts in 90 seconds and he is 2 lifts more than Trey.. They should only organise one event each day so the men can recover and perform their best for the next event..
I think trey will win the whole thing and mitchel will come in second. As for who’s gonna be third I have no idea.
Didn't work out that way.
You would think Tom Stoltman who basically weighs the same as the log would be able to get at least 2-3 reps...
Unlucky for luke this time
Missing Big Z.
Get big z in there, and see him still do 600 points
This guys are obviously top level athletes and the best at what they do, but I feel like Eddie or Big Z in their prime would've dominated the competition.
Thor is gonna have an easy run next year...Pavlo is still young and has room to improve...
I agree. Big Z did four reps on the Austrian Oak at a heavier weight (451 lbs vs 430 lbs).
Eddie has placed low in the Arnold’s he’s done
Where is anatholy? 😂
Luke forgot to take his trenbolone injection
🗿👍🏻
Mateusz Win
Наконечный здоровый но слабый, по сравнению с другими, участник. Как раз, для бодибилдинга. Техники выполнения никакой, а это ключ к победе. Масса есть, а толку ноль.
Kearney is absurd with his LGBT propaganda lol.😷
Слава России 🇷🇺
Hafthor was not happy after the first crowd reaction. Luke warm
Zydrunas did 205kg like a toy, 7 years prior to this...
💪🌐🏋
Hooper only got 1 rep on the log look closely at his right elbow
I have the method for 500. Who wants to know?
America's reign is over with Brian gone🥲 we got half of the competitors in this competition from the states and only 1 of em are in the top 5 after first event
Shows how much of an all around athlete Brian was.
