- Walmart just released a $70 Dual Action Polisher and $7 Polishing pads. The question is if they are that cheap can they be any good? We are going to find out in this video.
If you are looking for compounds or polishes for look no further then my website where you can find hundreds of detailing products and supplies at a great price. Here is a link to my website: fabdetailsupplies.com/ - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I appreciate you showing some of the cheaper alternatives especially for us DIYers, thanks Brian 👍😁
You are welcome!
Thank u for a great video/knowledge. I wished u would have shown us u packing grease & running it after, but DID appreciate u taking it apart & showing us that. Sounds great for us DIY'ers. 👍
You are welcome! It’s a great polisher for DIYers!
That's exactly what I was going to say. I would have at least liked to know if it sounded different.
Thanks for the in-depth review Brian.
You are welcome!
Appreciate the box swirling method!
No problem! Been doing that for years
Nice thorough test as always! Looks shockingly good for the money.
Thanks and yes it is!
I just heard about the Walmart polisher yesterday and I'm glad you did the review. I'm sure a normal 5 in backing plate will work. Thanks FAB.
I out a Griot’s 3 inch backing plate on it and it fit perfectly.
Thanks for the review. Appreciate the honesty.
You are welcome!
Thanks for the review Brian, also love amsoil products been using for 20 years great stuff.
You are welcome! Yes Amsoil is all I use.
Thanks Brian for the great and honest review, that looksa great machine for the beginner/enthusiast
You are welcome!
Yes! Love the Platinum Series. Everything they do is 🔥
So far I really like it!
Good review. Just want to note that the HF Bauer long throw is a few bucks more and a decent proven polisher-especially with a regrease and 5" backing plate.
💯 Correct, and I totally agree. I use it for daily for car lot vehicles in the city
Looks like a good starter polisher and changing the grease is a great idea!
It’s actually a very good polisher
Very interesting video! I was not aware Walmart would sell anything like this. Might have to go pick one up just to add an addition to my arsenal! Thanks for the video
Thank you! Definitely worth taking a look at in my opinion.
Great review Brian. That was super helpful. Please provide an update in the future. Thanks.
Thank you and will do
Awesome stuff man!!
Definitely gets the job done👍🏻
Every year Walmart has clearance on detailing stuff.. I have found some pretty sweet deals..I can't wait 😁👌
Thanks! Yes it’s a good little machine!
great review thanks i've been needing one
You are welcome!
Thanks for the review.
You are welcome!
Cool video!! Thank you for posting!
You are welcome!
As you and others have mentioned it looks like a good entry level polisher. Use with something like One and Done and top with Flex Wax you could get a nice finish with some protection.
Nice review 👍✌️☮️
Definitely a great entry level polisher. Thanks brother
THANKS FOR THE REVIEW!! IM STILL USING MY CRAFTSMAN 7'' SANDER/POLISHER FROM SEARS OVER 25 YEARS NOW!!! MIGHT BE TIME TO UPGRADE TO A SMALLER POLISHER!!! THANKS...
You are welcome!
Great video and good info as welI. We have no wallmart here in Japan otherwise I'd buy it! I bought an Artisan DA from Amazon for $45. Doesn't stall cuts and finishes like a beast.
Thanks!
I hate soft start. 😂😂😂. Thanks for the demo. Good job.
I do! 🤣 You are welcome
Wow, that’s surprising. I’ve been thinking about getting a similar type polisher to use for applying for wax. This will definitely be a contender!
Yes I was surprised also. This would be a great choice
Harbor freight is THE place to go if this (in my opinion) over priced item is in contention for you. HF has their bauer 6 inch DA regularly under $60. Crazy imo to have to literally build/put together something like this
I'd go for the Vevor polisher personally
@@parker12chow come?
@@TonyVainoskyharbor freight has them for 70 and 90 bucks not to mention Walmart has way more stores than harbor freight
I’m happy to see Walmart carrying these things. You should review the HF Bauer Pads.
Me too! I have looked at the HF pads but never have picked 1 up to test.
Also do a video on the HF Bauer polisher. Maybe a comparison video vs platinum?
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing the cutting pads feel very aggressive, but I picked up their light cut and polishing pads. Those feel nice. That light cut is close to the Hex logic orange pad
I have hf polisher and pads work well
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing Well then...what are you waiting for...get on it!! Lol
Nice wanted one as DIY guy thank for sharing
You are welcome
Great video thanks for the info 👍
You are welcome!
Great video on a home DIY machine. My only suggestion would be to hear the difference if any after you repacked it with grease and which grease you used.
Thank you! Didn’t change the noise but did make the machine a little bit smoother. I use Amsoil grease. Part number GLCCR
If you’re not an amsoil customer you would have to sign up to be a preferred customer and you will save money. If your interested I can get you my code to use when you sign up
I just seen those today..and was kinda impressed they had it..did snag a portable Hart pressure washer in discount isle new. Lol
I love Walmart clearance isles for that reason. You never know what you might find
For the DIY car owner its great.
I'd be happy to get the hard water lime scale off the porcelain tub....
Thanks for showing us! I need a smaller machine for Pillars, Bumpers and the like. I bought a budget one sometime ago and although it works I've wanted to throw it across the garage more than once. Can you tell us the Thread Diameter and Pitch for Backing Plates?
You are welcome. I’m not sure of the threads but during the livestream I was on tonight I took it apart and a Griot’s Garage backing plate fit it perfectly.
Those pads look like they would work on my cordless Vevor polisher machine too. Not that I use it much.
Interesting and for about half the price of the Maxshine M8S V2.
Early in the video, you took a decibel reading with the factory grease. What is the decibel reading with the Amsoil grease?
Yeah it’s a great deal! I didn’t take a decibel reading with the new grease.
Right?? WTH, that's what I was waiting for also!
@8:03 I'm super stingy with the thumbs ups i give to videos (maybe 1 every 2 years) but you deserve it. i will be picking up one of these soon. thank you.
also, you earned a new subscriber.
Thank you I really appreciate it! Welcome to the FAB Family
@@FABAutomotiveDetailingI did buy it and just like yours they had plenty of grease but none was on the gears. I put the grease on the gears and put it back together. I’d love to see your results with the db meter again after greasing the gears to see if it did quiet it down so there isn’t 3db noise difference.
So here’s the kicker, this or harbor freight, either the 8mm or the 20mm. The 8mm is less than 40 right now and the 20mm has gotten down to $50 before. Pads honestly look great though.
Nice job on the video!
Thank you!
I'll have to pick one up and compare it to the Harbor Freight polisher.
Good idea!
Thank you! I use hexlogic pads but I would like to try something a little cheaper. I will look into these pads. I am afraid of Harbor Freight pads.
You are welcome. These seem to be well made pads!
I just picked up a bargain at harbor freight for 40 bucks(sale) a short throw Bauer was impressed, not bad for a diyer machine
That sounds like a great deal!
My thoughts are it would be good for applying waxes and sealants. Also if you could swap out for a 3 inch plate it looks like it would be a great 3 inch polisher. Thanks FAB just wanted to put my 2 cents in.
Oh it’s way more machine then just applying a wax or sealant. This thing has plenty of power to correct any paint. I recently took the backing plate off and put the Griot’s 3 inch backing plate on it no problem at all. Worked perfectly
I've been looking for a new 3 inch. I may have to give it a try. And as you said a backup is always good to have.
Thanks for showing this product cuz I'm in the market for a polisher and don't want to brake the bank
You are welcome!
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing i was also wondering if you can use othe brands of polishing pads with this polisher as well
@@paulkandas2768 Yes you can
What’s the link for this?
I made my own...lol. I couldn't find a six inch where you could use the foam pad, so I made my own and it works gteat.
I’ve never seen any polisher that is pad specific. Every 6 inch polisher I have used uses a pad be it wool, microfiber or foam.
@FABAutomotiveDetailing The velcro pads, bro. Most six inch have the bonnets.
@@stangedude5646 A long time ago they did but all polishers from the last 15-20 years are Velcro. I have a 6 inch Griots Garage Polisher from 2005 that is Velcro.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing Got to Oreilly...lol.
Do you have a link?
How about the WM pads on a more expensive DA Polisher? I usually use Lake Country, but needed some pads the other day and needed some, so I went and bought the WM versions.
They would work just fine on other polishers. They are well made pads
How much better did it run when you changed the grease?
I haven’t used it on a panel yet but it felt smoother when I ran it for a second.
Solid video
I think put a 3inch baking plate and have a 3inch buffer
I tested it and Griots 3 inch backing plate off the G8 fits it
Looks and sounds like the Harbor Freight Bauer polisher I paid 39.99 on sale.
They actually look different from each other and most polishers sound like this. They may very well have the same internals being they are both made in china.
I would love to get one of these polishers. I paid way to much for a polisher from Chemical Guys and it bogs down alot.
It’s a nice machine!
Wonder how a disassembly next to a bauer will look?
That would be interesting
I can’t find it on Walmarts website or in my store. Do you have a link for it or item number? Thanks!
I don’t have a link. It all depends on your surrounding Walmarts. All of mine in Indiana show in stock.
How did the new grease affect it? Any change?
Made it run a little bit smoother but didn’t seem to change the noise level.
Thanks for this review. Machimpex USA is the company that owns this brand and other brands. Walmart may have some interest in them as well, who knows...but they sell a lot of things that are probably made in China and rebranded with some of their custom requirements.
You are welcome. That’s understandable and probably the case.
what is that vibration like sound? Before you tried to bog it down. Of course it got worse when you put orrsdure on it. Definitely would swap out the Grease for a higher temp better quality grease
It was the thin metal the hood is made out of it flexes so easy.
What kind of machine would you use to buff?A diamond plate tool box on a pickup Truck, I am very curious on what you think.Thank you
This machine would work but a rotary would be faster on diamond plate.
Where can I get one of those@@FABAutomotiveDetailing
@@martinneps9387 Harbor Freight sells them. If that’s all your wanting to use it for there is no reason to buy an expensive brand.
Are they louder with a pad on? Just curious cuz you tested the decibels with a pad on one and not the g6
No the pad wouldn’t change sound of the motor.
I go Walmart all the time I not see there maybe a super Walmart anyway awesome video and review
Keep checking I’m sure they will be at yours soon. Thank you
Can you put a different backing plate on it
I put a Griot’s 3 inch backing plate on it no problem.
I drink every time he says you guys 🍻
You will be drunk before it’s over. I don’t know why I say that all the time and I laugh at myself when editing my videos. 🤷
...or, when he says 'ex-specially' 😆
Not bad for the price , do you have the link for the product. Not bad price for a diy
Not bad at all actually. I do not have the link but it should be in every Walmart
Brian, have you ever used a Porter Cable? I hear that it vibrates. It's loud and ergonomically uncomfortable. It's not that cheap either. I still see suppliers selling them in a bundle.
I'm asking because I'm looking for something to compare it to. I wouldn't buy it because I already have too many polishers. It's borderline insanity. Right along with the polishes, compounds and ceramic sprays.
Nice demonstration bud.
I have not used the porter cable so I can’t answer that. I don’t need another polisher either but couldn’t pass up testing this one.
Ill stick with the Bauer from Harbor Freight that's seemingly always on sale for under $60
Nothing wrong with that
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing to be clear - didn't intend for my comment to come off as stand-offish. Video was good, 👍
@@TonyVainosky It’s all good man I didn’t take it that way
Thanks for the review, but I bet the problem comes about an hour into using this polisher when it gets too hot because it's under-powered.
You are welcome. It’s not under powered at all!
Im going to get one based off your reaction. Did the amsoil quiet it down & which exact grease would you recommend ?
It’s part number GLCCR. If you sign up as a preferred customer you will get 25% off. The first 6 months should be free and then it’s $20/year after that but you will save that money easily throughout the year. They have the absolute best oils on the market. @FABAutomotiveDetailing thank you very much !
@@marquisethomas5611 You are welcome
Can I swap out the backing plate for a 5 inch plate?
I tested this just the other day on a livestream and the Griot’s garage backing plates fit so yes you can.
can you use this to wax your vehicle too? And what would you recommend for the wax to put on it (assuming it is higher viscosity?)
Thanks
Yes you can and any liquid wax would work fine
Thank you for the review. I've only used cordless polishers. When using this polisher do you need to use a special extension cord to keep it from disconnecting?? If so how to avoid accidentally unplugging the polisher? Thanks
No just a regular extension chord will work
Thanks
What kind of warranty? Sorry if you mentioned and I missed it.
thought he said new company so it was prob a lifetime whatever that means.
The paperwork with it does not state a warranty. My guess would be 90 days but I don’t know for sure
Thank you for the info, anyone have a link to this polisher ?
You are welcome. It’s apparently only available in certain markets.
looks like the Bauer from Harbor Freight
Are the pads worth getting in a pinch.
In a pinch absolutely. They actually aren’t to bad at all
I can't find it om Walmarts web sight? Any help?
I think it all depends on the area where you live. In Indiana it is available ale online and in store.
I gotta check out the wal mart isle next grocery trip 😤👍🧼
Yes sir!
Walmart released it where? Just got off Walmart website and could not find this anywhere.
It’s on the shelves at my Walmart in Indiana.
www.walmart.com/ip/Platinum-Series-Buffer-Polisher-6-Speed-Dual-Action-for-Car-Detailing-6-inch-5-Piece-Set/5018588282?from=/search
Link you sent says page cannot be found. Sorry bout that, but ain't seeing it anywhere here in Arkansas. Maybe they are doing some kind of test roll out in some other places.
@@mhawk8264 It must be I’m not sure. When I put in my zip code on Walmart’s website they pop right up
Ayo have you tried the bauer 20mm throw polisher? How does this compare?
I have not. Sorry
With it's size it looks like it be a good 3 inch
Yea it would be and very powerful 3 inch at that
Looks pretty much identical to the Bauer random orbital polisher from Harbor Freight at $69.99
All these polisher kind of look the same to be honest. Most polishers have the same design to them. I’ve heard the Bauer is good also
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing on a different channel, the reviewer took it apart and added a high quality red grease and it was quieter, smoother and ran cooler.
I’d bet a lot of these polishers come out of the same factory and are just rebranded.
Harbor Freight has them for $39 on sale.
There are a lot of polishers out there this is just one of them. They are not all created equal though
If nothing else, it looks like it would be a cheap polisher for applying waxes and sealants.
Yes it would be good for that but it corrects paint just as good as the big boys.
I think I wanna buy this one 😂
It’s surprisingly good
Whats the amsoil grease PN
It is GLCCR! Are you a Preferred Customer already with Amsoil?
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing i havent pulled the trigger yet on any amsoil products but i need to swap the grease is my Bauer n probably my hercules polishers so ill definitely be looking into and signing up

@@KtotheK34 You are welcome! If you have any questions about any of their products feel free to reach out on IG or Facebook
It looks exactly like the one that harbor freight sells.
Most polishers on the market have the same framework. I have a polisher that is 25 years old that looks like the harbor freight one also but that doesn’t mean they are the same.
Was it quieter question mark you never did so that part
Not really but it did run a little bit smoother
Rather get the diy detail brand , than waste my money on that lol
I love DIY products and there is nothing wrong with you wanting their polisher but it’s not like it’s only a few dollars more than this polisher. It’s $170 more. Is it better? Most likely but this thing has some power for the price and will correct paint very well.
Is anyone else having a hard time finding this? I've stopped at every Wal Mart I can and it's not online!
It’s in stock in Indiana. Use my zip code online. It’s 46140 and see if it pops up
This is a nothing burger, Harbor freight has the 8mm throw DA on sale this week for $39 and has tons of good mods.
I disagree! I have used the Bauer and this definitely has more power. This one also accepts Griots backing plates which I found out last night just to see if they would fit. The 2”,3”,5” and 6” all fit it.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing The Bauer also has a universal fit backing plate system. I have the 5" maxshine on mine. Also, when you move way down in backing plate size, you have to change or modify the counter weight or you'll deal with some serious vibration.
Price is right, probably all china. They never mention where product is made.
I though I did mention it. It is made in china just 95% of all polishers on the market
First!!!
I'm glad your FILTHY RICH, but in my world, $70 is a LOT OF MONEY!
I am rich but not financially. Rich to me means something different than most people. $70 is a lot of money but for a polisher it’s a good price compared to the price of them in the rest of the market.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing .......> IF < I were any good with them, I'd get one. My wife's 2019 5th Gen RAM 1500 Bighorn 4x4 has that Black Diamond Crystal Paint that shows EVERY DARN swirl, scratch, nick, ding and dent.....I'd be puffing on that thing for a months straight...LOL!!!
@@JeffreyStrader Yeah that’s a beautiful color but man they are hard to keep looking good. They swirl just breathing on them. 😂
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing brother, I GAVE UP!..LOL!
Save your money until you can afford a mid grade machine.
This is just as good as all my mid grade machines. I have around 8 machines and this one is right up there with them and you can save money.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing All that matters is that you are satisfied with the purchase. I learned hard lessons buying the very cheapest or the most expensive. The first will not last long term. And the second has never been worth twice or three times the money.
