That's why you don't buy Yamaha Tracer 9 - the biggest marketing flaw

  • Yamaha's flagship motorcycle, Tracer 9 GT, is one of the best-selling motorcycles in the world. Unfortunately, the entire Tracer 9 lineup is being judged wrongly because of the wrong marketing Yamaha does in their most developed markets. In this video, I want to share why you might want to buy the regular Tracer 9 over the premium version of the Tracer 9 GT or GT +.

    Wonderful topic. Just before deciding for the base model I test rode (also filmed it) the GT model and I completely agree about the suspension. Just two modes and both too hard. At least for me. :) Anyways the base model has everything a usual riders need. I am a happy owner just like you. Take care and keep going bro.

    I completely agree. I got one of the few non GT Tracer 900 in the States and switched out the suspension with RaceTech suspension and modified it to my personal needs and riding style. I still came out way cheaper.. However, I do miss the quick shifter, heated hand grips and cruise control.

      I think Yamaha tried too hard with this electronic suspension. Probably, if they have more extended travel, that would work better.

    Thanks for your take on the Tracer 9 suspension vs the GT. The problem for us in the USA is Yamaha dropped the Tracer 9/GT from its lineup in 2023. Currently they have brought back the Tracer 9GT for 2024. With all the new goodies added to the GT I would buy it over the non-GT if were available here. I will see if the new active suspension works on rough pavement when I take it on a test drive.

    • @SergeyVikultsev
      @SergeyVikultsev  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi! Thanks for watching. I guess the non-GT version doesn't make much sense for the US. I might be wrong, but my perception that you guys ride highways rather than backroads (not talking about adventure riding). So you don't really need a "manual" version.

    • @Hooner77
      @Hooner77 Před 2 měsíci

      @@SergeyVikultsev I can understand that perception as people from other countries think we all ride Harley Davidson motorcycles. That is so far from the truth. Consider this fact. At 6,803,479 km the US has more roads than any other country. Those roads run from large multi-lane freeways to dirt tracks that will test the most experienced adventure motorcyclist. When I plan a long motorcycle trip, I pick a route with lots of twisty roads and as little freeway as I can get away with. I think the Tracer 9GT is great motorcycle for that type of touring. I am sure it would be better than my 2017 V-Strom 650. But it still puts a smile on my face running a twisty road.

I couldn't aggree more with your arguments nevertheless i have ride a GT version and what I conclude is that GT is totally different bike. The biggest "Flaw", if you live in N. America, is that Yamaha North America don't support this bike. While Yamaha dealers in Istanbul, London, Paris, Adelaide etc etc, have them lined up & ready to buy, in the USA you can hardly find one & there's NO OEM accessories. They give the lame excuse "Supply chain problems" yet dealers i the rest of the world have accessories on the shelf, ready to buy.

      I was quoting you. ;-) It's not that electronics are bad, but like anything, having more (unnecessary) things will eventually cause more maintenance and potentially repair cost. EVs usually have an order magnitude less parts so your reliability should increase, if you just base it on the potential of any part failing randomly. However, reliability is only as good as as the most frequent failing part, especially in a critical system. @@SergeyVikultsev

    The problem is that Yamaha does not have touring in its offer. Tracer is a pretend tour, people treat it as tourism, while the competition offers real tourism for similar money.
    GT+ version is a scam in my opinion. For much more money you get a radar and a repaired dash which should be the same in the standard model because the current one is not different but broken. I dont want pay this price for repaired dash and radar... why do i need radar wtf? At the same time, I don't want broken clocks in the GT. Now I have to buy the extremely expensive gt+ version. But for this money I already have other motorcycles.
