Hellloooo! My name is Clancy and I'm originally from Long Island, NY, whch is about 40 minutes from NYC. In 2017, I moved to Ohio to become a TV news reporter, but after waking up at 2 a.m. for 5 years, I decided to leave that job and pursue CZcams full-time.
I recently bought a house in Cincinnati and love making all kinds of videos, focusing on everything from money and finances (saving, budgeting, and being financally independent in your 20's) to health, fitness, and nutrition, to beauty and fashion. I'm getting married next summer so I also love providing wedding updates and showing you exactly how I'm planning my own wedding.

Love this. I always agreed with your choices of no bridesmaids, wedding planner, flowers. My daughter got married at the beach 5 years ago. The ocean was a beautiful backdrop as was yours with downtown Cincinnati so a bunch of flowers..just a waste! So thankful it didn’t rain and you had a beautiful day/night!
Married now for 43 years. Vows and Mass in a chapel, no aisle runner, flowers and ferns from MIL's back porch decorated the chapel. Had a Best Man and Maid of honor, BIL sang at the Mass. The chapel seated 75 people. The reception, had a dinner, no dancing, had a student from CCM play background music with guitar and lute. Budget $15000, only used $5000, pocketed/saved $10,000!

I got married last October and one thing I’m really glad I did was having a faux bouquet. I decided on mainly succulents for it and it’s still on my mantle! Also, my brothers best friend recorded the entire wedding and we have two hours of raw footage. I’m so grateful for that!

I love watching all of your wedding content. My husband and I had a very nice, but simple wedding 26 years ago. Church wedding, cake & punch afterward. My mom found silk flowers on sale and made all of the bouquets and boutonnieres. We rented some candelabras and that was about it. My cousin video taped it and we had a photographer. At the end of the day, we were married. The wedding is only one day--the marriage is forever. ❤
Yup, I’m one of those people who regret not having a videographer at my wedding. How fun would be to have shown my son mommy and daddy’s special day. I’m glad you were able to have one at your wedding, and excited to have you share it with your viewers. ❤
Yes to the wedding planner! We didn't have one either, and had a day of coordinator. We did have a cash and normal registry. Kinda like you and Zach, we've lived together prior to married. So we decided to add upgrade things that we have already.
Thank you for your advice! I’m planning a small wedding and will do flowers but will order some from Costco and have a small budget and make my own decorations in mason jars. But I love how relaxed you are about it. All I want to do is have a small ceremony (20 mins ) and then eat lol 😂 maybe do a dance but just want to do it in our backyard. Still want a photographer and a videographer. Also planning to have a food truck

GIRL im so so appreciative of this video! There are lots of things you did that I genuinely thought were kind of nonnegotiable! But I know, if I ever get married, I won’t want it to be super traditional and expensive. Not having flowers or bridesmaids are things I used to be worried about because of the cost vs value of them. Instead, investing in photos, a photo booth, etc seems like such a better use of your money!
Yesss! If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that you can truly make this experience your own! Don’t ever feel the need to do anything or buy anything just because “that’s the way it’s always been done.”
I had a small wedding many years ago. I had lots of flowers, which I love, because my husband's aunt used to be a florist in a different state. We went to the flower markets to get all the supplies and spent a minuscule amount of money on them. Had a buffet rather than a plated meal, for variety. My BIL took photos as he is a photographer. Had one bridesmaid and one groomsman. My bridesmaid made sure I had something to eat and helped me when my wedding dress straps stretched (she shortened them using fishing line!). I do regret not having a videographer. It was not common back then. I also love that you had a photo booth. Would be so much fun to look back on it.
This video totally changed my mindset about flowers.. I’m getting married in summer by the beach and thinking of getting some flowers BUT this video helped me decide not to coz it’s a waste of $$$$. Thank you!💐💓
I love your video and I completely agree with you on a lot of these things thank you for the advice. I am definitely looking up videos for advice and regrets and unique things that people did that they don't regret. Because I am planning my own wedding as well. I agree with the registry thing I'm not going to have one. I plan on instead using honeyfund where people can donate money to your honeymoon or money to the event being planned I guess and I feel that is more important and would serve both me and my fiance better
You picked one of my favorite views for your wedding. The Cincinnati skyline shines from Drees. I don't feel you need to do anything you don't want to do when you get married. I honestly didn't care what tradition was I did what I wanted. Brides have to pick what is important to them and go with it.

By the way, I was noticing the headboard for your bed behind you and I was wondering if you could tell me where you purchased that at. I have an adjustable bed that I have a real problem with the mattress, as big and heavy as it is, i’m having issues where the mattress will practically try to slide off to the side, and that headboard looks like it would help keep it In place!

I'm so glad you're happy/content with it, but I highly recommend being joined at the hip with your new spouse from ceremony onward. I would've been so sad if I felt like I hadn't spent the day with my new husband since that's what the whole day was about. We tried to talk to each guest as much as we could, but that was not a priority for us. The day was about us and for us, not our guests. We didn't have people traveling from super far away though so I understand wanting to prioritize the guests more when they travel from far away!

I knew going into this video we were going to have vast differences because of the past wedding videos BUT I cannot miss a Clancy video 💜 AHHH I loved my bridal party and couldn’t have done it without them! Getting ready together and then helping me (throwing a shower & Bach party) but I do agree with you I only had my wedding planner for the month before to make the schedule and contact vendors and then on the day of but then I did everything else! My husband is a crier so he def broke down during our first look 😅 ALSO the flowers budget is ridiculous! We ended up with fake flowers all silk and they were great! Plus like a fraction of the price.
Omg I’ve seen so many brides do the fake silk flowers and I seriously cannot tell they’re fake at all! They look beautiful!!!

I have so many comments 😂 I didn’t do a church. I didn’t do a planner. I did our own flowers and center pieces. My own bouquet, my bridesmaids ones and boutonnières. Saving money is totally doable. We did add an extra hour for cocktails and an extra hour to stay order. I also did our own back drop with 50 yards of fabric lol bc I hated how the brick looked where the dj was going.
I worked for marketing for a casino. So I was able to get a flower seller. We picked up 1000 roses and they gave us free greens for $700. Which is incredibly cheap for even 8 years ago. If I had not done that I wouldn’t of gotten flowers. I met with one florist and just my bouquet was half of the price. Insane!
I agree with point #1, i have a full time job and most of my wedding planning for June 2024 is done. I do admin work so planning is a big YES for me! I could see if someone hated it well maybe it'd be better to hire someone else to do it lol

Even though everyone will have regrets and non regrets and everyone who's will be different its also nice to hear others regrets and non regrets cause sometimes it maybe somethingthey didn't of doing or not doing (and I'm with you on the whole just give money and say a list of what gift cards from where because if your combining things you don't know what you will end up with)

Thank you for sharing Clancy! As a food allergy sufferer myself another option is to get a small dairy/egg/ nut free cake from Whole Foods for $40-50 & add a few flowers and topper so you don't miss out on dessert 🎂 also helpful if any guests have an allergy or are vegan.

They were becoming popular in the last 90’s when I was married, but like you, I had a day of coordinator. That was all I really needed. Thank you for sharing so much Clancy. I am so glad you made this video! However I do want to say, for my personal wedding I’m going to do pretty much the opposite of what you guys did lol! I really genuinely appreciate all of your input and it helped me so much at the end where you said “it’s just a day” because it literally is just a day. I have pictures of our wedding where me and my husband cheer our drinks and the next sequence is us walking away drinking. It really is a crazy busy day and you barely see each other besides for pictures and sitting down to eat

Ugh my husband and I were supposed to do a private cake cutting but then the dj announced “it’s time for the bride and groom to cut the cake” and then we did it in front of everyone on the dance floor with a huge spotlight on us😅 that’s the one thing that went wrong but none of the guests even realized.
We didn’t do a first look and that was one thing we were both 100% set on. We got married at a church so it might’ve been easier than if we had the ceremony and reception at the same place. We were able to leave some time in between and got all of our pictures done in a decent time. We also extended cocktail hour to be 2 hours and we were able to attend an 1.5 of it! (Plus we were able to have some time alone and we sat in the empty decorated ballroom and they brought us plates of every appetizer for us). We had a 2pm ceremony and 4pm cocktail hour. I wish we added an extra half hour to the reception though, I didn’t realize how long it would take people to move from the cocktail hour space to the actual reception space/ballroom. We were waiting for 30 minutes before we did our entrance. I felt like we wasted time we could’ve been dancing or hanging out with everyone.

I don’t hear a ringing?!?! It’s the same audio setup as my regrets video because I filmed them back to back!
At :18 is a good example. I’m wearing headphones and I usually don’t. It’s a ringing on your audio peaks, and you’re loud a lot haha. I don’t hear it on the last wedding video though so 🤷♀️ Its very subtle but I’m sure it’s there.

A venue coordinator and wedding day of coordinator are two different things. I’ve planned my wedding myself and the wedding coordinator will be there on the day to make sure everything I’ve planned happens and the day runs smoothly

I did most of my planning (booking all vendors, booking dates, et .) when I was working full-time!

Please please be careful discussing your allergens and how you treat them😩. Eating them can be soo dangerous and stating that can give people the false sense that because you survived others will. Allergies are still soo misunderstood and a lot of people don’t know about Epinephrine and how it can save lives. I encourage anyone who has read this comment to look up Red Sneakers For Oakley😭💕.
I would never eat or experiment with tree nuts, which causes me to go into anaphylactic shock. Of course you just have to know which kind of allergy you have - a stomachache from eating dairy if you’re lactose intolerant isn’t a huge deal, but anaphylaxis is!

As Clancy said, not all allergic reactions are at the same severity. If someone knows they go into anaphylactic shock after having something, then don’t be dumb and follow the advice of a CZcamsr over your physician 🥴

You are a “people pleaser” generally. I think you should do individual videos on the more controversial decisions. I think people would enjoy them. For instance no wedding party or registry? Does that mean also no showers, bachelorette party, etc?? I’m assuming so. It was such a money saver for your friends. I love no flowers, wedding party, wedding planner, take home favors/junk, I am 56 and if I ever get married again I want a diamond but I want a “used” one (pawn shop) due to diamond mining exploitation. I have made that wish known to my partner and she doesn’t get it. I want to pick it out together too. I want a very very smaall wedding with very very close friends and family. I want to rent a 25 person cabin or a couple condos at either a local state park or at the beach. We will pay for it but I want it bc to be a 3 day weekends with our pets and e bc eeything. Those people and things we love. We want pie instead of cake. Everyone can help bring food and aalcohol for the weekend but the night of the wedding have it catered. It just sounds safe, fun abs C like bc you said getting to see people that we often don’t. I want to play cards, cook out, swim. A relaxing weekend. I want to be married in comfy clothes, I’ve even considered pajamas. Lol. We might do “first look” on a completely different day.

I have zero regrets about not having a videographer. They're soooo expensive and not worth it in my opinion. We just had a relative in charge of recording the ceremony, speeches, and dances, and he ended up even getting some behind the scenes moments and it just feels way more special than an elaborate expensive professional. Another turn off about videographers for me is that it's more people clogging up your space and following you around during intimate moments.
My best friend is doing the same for her wedding that’s coming up in October! I’ve been helping her with planning her wedding and those are the things she really cares about recording.
