I think that’s part of the appeal. As much as the comments would suggest they are offended by this, but Doug dresses very casual, not fancy, not outlandish or anything and it allows you to concentrate more on the car. Realistically, what should he wear and would the review really be better if he wore a freshly pressed button down with slacks and Gucci belt as an example? I’m trying to think of any car reviewer who I would consider dressing up or being a fashion guy. Redline reviews, Joe Raiti, The Straight Pipes, Alex on Autos etc, they all are very casual.

Doug's value is that he's remarkably consistent week after week, year after year. That consistency has become a standard from which we can draw an impression. I like the discussion about shooting with an iPhone. Because Doug is right, and I I think it's something that everyone misses to at least some degree: there is a difference between adequate and best and almost nobody *needs* best. (Best camera, best battery range, best acceleration, best storage space, whatever) Especially in the product video space, that focus on bests kind of happens naturally as part of the review process.
But when we focus solely on best, we lose sight of prioritization. Doug doesn't need a better camera and would waste money not to mention the time and effort to learn new tools, plus the additional overhead of running more professional equipment... There just wouldn't be any effective payoff for it.
Idk I just get tired of internet arguments about what's best and I really appreciate it when “because this is plenty” is the answer

Dynamic of two famous youtubers relating to one another about being yotubers is very interesting to watch. I feel like marques is very guarded (understandably so, weird world out there) but good to hear him talk on a personal level.

I will always remember the car reviewer who sold you himself. He travelled a lot, had a great dog, interesting friends of all walks and really appreciated a nice driving car. Reading one of his reviews was a visit. I’m not sure, but I think he originated 0-60, certainly popularized it. Doug definitely sells his response to the extraordinary too. I’ll always miss Tom but I’m glad you’re here now. Thanks for your show.

Do the "Grey brown fox ..." one that uses all the characters! My typing teacher at 13yo in the summer before HS (skipped a 1/2 grade moving from Watts L.A. to the OC) was the CIF Champs football coach, Mr. Boswell. He got some of us up to 75 wpm! He would tell us OG surfers that usually skipped his 1st period PE class that he knew where we were & didn't care so long as we worked out. A few years later, after graduating, came the first of the official surf classes. Thanks, Mr. B, we salute you!

And as amazing as Doug is his content doesn't cover it! Just see TopGear with and without the 3! Production isn't everything but when you have both it's literally a rocket!
