My favorite movie of all time. I watch it annually.
I would say it's the perfect star trek movie the acting is fantastic, the graphics still look good today and the music is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
the graphics??
this is my favorite star trek film. between the emotional weight and how the story was written as a whole. Kirk, Spock, Bones and Sulu always bring a smile to my face. anyway fantastic video Sean. keep it up!
+Cody Lamoreau Yeah it's so good. I think Star Trek 2-4 is one of the great forgotten trilogies
It is interesting how this movie, effects all the others that came with the original cast. The obvious right are the movies 3 & 4. But 5 we see a new Enterprise that has mechanical issues... Since we lost the original Enterprise in the last move when they were searching for Spock... all ties in with ST2. Also when Kirk, Spock and McCoy are camping and McCoy says " I like him better before he died" . Then in ST6 at one point Spock says "I've been dead before" I know it is minor but it is all a ripple of this movie. Love it! Great review!
It wasn't so much that Khan hated Kirk for stranding him on Ceti Alpha V, but rather the fact that Kirk never sent anyone to check up on him. When his wife was killed by the ear worm, that pushed him over the edge.
The original story was going to have Kirk fight with Kahn in a final physical fight. Due to an injury to Maltoban's back, he was unable to complete the fight scene. So they rewrote it where there fight is with their command abilities.
Well done mate, a great review.. I remember watching this movie when I was 10 and knew it was special even then.
My 4th favorite movie ever made:
Just watched it for the first time yesterday:
Rating: 10/10
Grade: A+
Positives: Story, Emotional, Action Packed, Awesome Action, Great Themes, Suspense, Intense, Villain, Entertaining, Violent, Bloody, Epic, Creative, Great Acting, Great Character Dinamics, Visuals, Musical Score, Thrilling, Over All Awesome, Dramatic, Iconic, Script, Plot, Dialogue
Negatives: None, it's literally perfect!
So I Just finished watching it for the first time, luckily at the cinema, and my god what a movie.
As a Kelvin incomer who's now watched all TOS and the first 2 ogs, I loved this.
I should say that I hadn't seen the show by the time I watched Into Darkness and that Kirk death still makes me cry! So did Spocks this time but thought I'd add that it did work well for some of us! 🖖
If only all of the Star Trek movies were as great as this one
thank you so much. you and i agree so much n everything you say here especially into darkness. finally someone who saw what i saw. also cheers for the props on Horners music. I soo agree it is iconic and very underated. not mentioned enough.
I love this movie. The story is very well written, the themes are rich, the character arcs are interesting, the dialogue is iconic, the death of Spock and Checkov were extremely emotional, and the action is super suspenseful, the visuals are stunning, the score is amazing. The entire movie my heart was beating so fast and I was on the edge of my seat. It mixes revenge with Sci Fi with mind control. What's not to love? 10/10 5th favorite movie ever made.
Happy 35th Anniversary Wrath of Khan.Awesome review Sean, The Wrath of Khan is the best Star Trek movie by far. It's an epic masterpiece, which includes the ebst performance from William Shatner, Khan is a awesome antagonist, and Spock's death is one of the saddest movie moments ever. The KHAN line is just classic. 35 years later, no Star Trek film has ever topped it since 10/10. Have a awesome day!
+Harry Thomas Pictures yeah it's such a great piece is sci-fi and Star trek
Wrath of Khan is my favorite Trek movie, I guess it's the big favorite. I was eleven the first time I seen it, I watched the movies first which may sound weird. I knew about Spock's death going in, I guess it's not a huge spoiler now.
+SirTyJensen Yeah now it's just kind of generally known. I've always known about. Just imagine how shocking that would have been going into it as a 15 year Star Trek fan in 1982? That would have been cool
Sean, I’m laughing at the superior review...
The reviews of the many out weigh the reviews of the one!
This is still one of my fave Trek films, luv'd it as a kid! They got the rhythms back, esp with Bones and Spock ;) The only downside were the Ceti eels take over your brain thingy - very 1950s xD Also wishes Kirstie Alley would've stayed on as Saavik. Thinks I've over watched this one, as I rarely watch it anymore lol
Sean I just got a box set of these movies on Blu Ray and this is the best one in the set, it's the Aliens and Empire Strikes Back of the Trek films. What are your thoughts on the rest of the Trek films after this and also The Motion Picture which everyone seems to hate?
2-4 are a trilogy of films and I think they're all great. 3 has some weak elements, but as a whole the right things work. SO I still love it. 4 is actually a fish out of water comedy where they go back in time to the 80s and look for whales. Its so wacky, but it's actually a direct sequel to 3 which is a direct sequel to 2. I really like all of them and I think they make for one of the best cinematic trilogies of all time.
1 isn't' bad it's just boring. There's plenty of things to love in the film.
5 is a mess of a story with cheap special effects. Some of it is really embarrassing There's some nice character moments though.
6 is a great send off for the crew and has some nice social commentary done right. It's from the same guy who did II. Very solid entry. Maybe my second favorite.
....I'm actually shooting a Star Trek ranking video tomorrow with my sister.
I think you need to see EC Henry's video "JJ's Reboot Krik is Amazing". It makes Pine's Kirk's death better. No not equal to Spock's, but it makes the death scene more powerful
Nah, that film is utter and total lazy shit script wise - absolutely one of the worst big budget scripts ever put to film. The whole copying/mirroring WoK thing is a typical bullshit Jar Jar Abrams/Klutzman/Orcrap "can't come up with anything original, so slap some lazy callback bullshit together" just like they did with Star Wars. Those three assholes should never be allowed near another franchise.
I haven't seen Rogue One yet, did they use some model work?
It doesn't look cartoony. I don't know if it's models or CGI for the space battles. It's the most exciting space battle I've seen since Return of the Jedi.
I have seen this once. Dont remember much of it. Not a big Star Trek fan. Great review!
Oh come on how do you not like Star Trek. You probably like Disney Star Wars and transformers
@@lukeschroter9389 Transformers no. Never watched Star Trek growing up. I would like to at some point.
@@JustinWatchesMovies well I just watched Wrath of Khan last night and I loved it dude I teared up at the end when Spock died. And like you I just started getting into Trek
@@JustinWatchesMovies well I just watched Wrath of Khan last night and I loved it dude I teared up at the end when Spock died. And like you I just started getting into Trek
@@lukeschroter9389 Star Wars is better.
I haven't seen these yet, I've only seen the 2009 film and it's sequel, therefore Into Darkness is my favorite Star Trek film that I've seen.
Some are great.....others not so much. Very different tone and pacing from JJ Trek
Sean Chandler Talks About So, I'm about to watch Star Trek beyond for the first time, what's your opinion on that one?
This film and Undiscovered Country are the two best ones of the series I do agree about Into Darkness that it wasn't the same impact with Kirk dying then Spock. Also the Wrath of Khan has one of the best villains and is so much better the the first one which I remember watching on TV and falling asleep as it was so boring . Any chance you could do a review for Gonnies another 80' classic
It's very possible.
I've actually only seen it once. I didn't grow up watching it. So for the most part I'd be reviewing as a fresh set of eyes.
Who Knew 22 have not seen The Wrath of Khan, therefore I think Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan is one of the greatest villains of all time.
While I enjoyed a lot of parts of the film and loved Khan as a villain, the motive for the plot didn't feel compelling for me. It's still a pretty good movie, just not my personal favourite type of film
I don't even care for star trek and still really liked this movie
1. Undiscovered Country is better
2. "doing life with"? Really? My eyes almost rolled out of my head.
3. That scene in Star Trek Into Darkness was so incredibly horrible, and I had someone try to argue it worked, and I didn't even know how to respond to that.
Side note, I remember this being watched at the Pohlman's house, and the big scene I remember is the Chekov and Kahn scene and having to leave the room when that happened, and to this day I still can't watch that scene.
4. You have to wonder why Kahn isn't thinking 3D, our current fighter pilots fight in 3D, and timeline wise he should be thinking in 3D. Though, I think in the books on Kahn (there's like a 3 or 4 book series) and now that I think about it, he was mostly a land commander.
5. He never got back to you. 😏

Khannnn lol
Khhhhhhhhhaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!!
lol
You like Into Darkness? Literally & objectively one of the worst scripts ever made into a big budget film? The writing on Into Darkness is "Lucy" (2014) level bad, but worse because at least Lucy was an original property, not a sad steaming dump on a beloved franchise. I was just about to subscribe, but sadly that single statement means I can't trust your opinion on anything, even if I agree with you on Wrath of Khan.
