Nick big congratulations on the 1M milestone! I don't know if you will read this but you have been my motivation for years to push myself harder with running more than ever. I have a similair story of being in the military and hated the mandatory running cause i never felt i got better cause it was only go go go and never training smart smart smart. I've been watching your videos since you almost left the army and 2 year ago i made myself the promise to become the best version of myself running wise. Your videos and tips and tricks have helped me train smart, train harder and enjoying the entire process. I've been pushing the boundaries on the half marathons and got a PR for 1:45 right now. Next year im gonna run my first ever marathon aiming for a good time of 4 hours. Thanks a million for all the motivation, showing your amazing life and motivating me to be the best. GO ONE MORE!
Congrats… I’ve really enjoyed watching all your recent stuff since I’m training for CIM as well. I’m 63 and shooting to go sub 3:45 and BQ, so it’s been really cool seeing how you are training. I bonked at 22 miles last year at CIM and failed to BQ but signed up the very next day for this year’s race and went back to the drawing board. I’ve trained harder and smarter this year and feel pretty confident (maybe not as confident as you lol, but you are just crushing your workouts). I feel a little like Rocky in Rocky IV while you are Ivan Drago in terms of our training regimens. I carry a couple of original old lemon lime Gatorades in my pockets on long runs and snack on Lays potato chips lol (they’re light and I like the salty taste). I obviously don’t have a coach but really enjoy the process of researching and coming up with workouts to do, a lot of which are similar to yours (just at slower paces obviously). I do all my interval workouts on the treadmill because I like to dial in the paces exactly (and it seems all tracks are locked up these days). I always set the treadmill at 1% incline. I’ll make a deal with you…. If you go sub 2:45 and I don’t go sub 3:45, then I promise I’ll try all your GO products lol. I can’t imagine you not going sub 2:45, in fact I would bet money on you being closer to 2:30 than 2:45. Good luck… see you in Sac

Crazy that your coach isn’t setting your workouts up for you in Training Peaks. My coach sets all workouts up in TP. I really think with how great your training has been going lately, you’re gonna run way under 2:45. I would say 2:38-2:40. Calling it now
Honestly he’s in 2:30 low / mid shape with the 22 miler he ran in this. It just depends on how he paces the race, he’s well ahead of 2:45 shape but if he runs conservative then he will land in the 2:40-2:42 range just to hit the target he set out to hit at the start of the block.

2:31? That’s a massive order, I think it’s a bit ambitious to train for sub 2:45 and then go over 30 sec per mile faster than that on race day. I think sub 2:40 would be the stretch goal.
Yes 2 hr 31 is my prediction. He’s comfortably running at a sub 5.50 minute per mile pace on a training run lol

I don't think he is on a bunch of gear. I bet he uses TRT and growth hormone to allow him to cross train at this level. I do basically what he does but I am definitely not as muscular as him and I don't run quite as fast but I run 50 miles a week and am able to still lift 4 to 5 days per week at age 37 without being on anything
