- Ordered an SC PROJECT Adventure exhaust in titanium direct from the Italian manufacturers for my 2022 BMW R1250GS.
UPDATED 20TH March 2023
For a better sound video check my video out with my new dji wireless microphones . The SC Project sounds great .

Took just over 4 weeks to arrive.
Great sounding exhaust , euro 5 compliant. Won't upset the neighbours.
Looks amazing , much better than OEM
Easy to install, about 15-20 minutes, no install instructions from SC, bizarre !!
Make sure the bike is cold.......and you clean the exhaust with WD40 before you start it, to ensure no marks get burnt in to the titanium.
No issues with my SW motech pro side carriers being fitted and the SC exhaust is a little bit longer than OEM .
Makes about 2.9 peak hp more.
WARRANTY IS 24 MONTHS

Well done. You've now become the SC Project fitting instructions!
Congrats on the new exhaust, and safe riding.
WOW !! ... well done ...
Another excellent video...nice installation & I love the sound!
Just been out with the wife aka the boss on the back, she says it was fine and didn't think it was loud...result 🤪
Thank you for your previous & very recent videos on these silencers. Starting to research current sources of purchase.
Cheers 😊
No problem 👍Just be aware that if you have a plastic number plate ...it may melt .Apparently the Akrapovics do it too. Mine did.😂
Good job.Tnx
That’s a great looking and sounding exhaust. Every time I watch one of your videos it costs me money 😂
Sorry ! 😂
Thanks for the video! Just did the same to my GS and love it. The swap was more for the look but I do love the sound as well, just the right balance for me.

Glad it helped👍👍
Looking and sounding good old bean.
Cheers 👍 doesn't quite look like i've crashed it into Halfords shop window yet!🤣
I have the same can on my gs1250 with the baffle in place and its perfect
That sounds brilliant. Gotta get me one. Tks for the informative video.
Any time! Out on it yesterday....sounds great 🤪
Same here. Love the sound. Pop pop crackle pop!
@@rumporridge1 Just got new dji mics and have been out today on the bike to try them out....will put a video up on the sound that was recorded 👍
@@gsd32i will subscribe brother.
Nice vid as always I have the same bike with S3s and same couloir I opted for the Akrapovic black exhaust it’s nice and sounds and looks good but to be honest there not much wrong with the stock exhaust keep up the good work love ya vids 👍
Thanks 😁
Well done. I like it.
Have fun with the end can. Looks good and sounds fun BUT I bet you decide to put the OEM one back on when you're feeling guilty of annoying neighbours and people living in those lovely idyllic villages we love to ride through. You'll also notice your fuel consumption goes up and probably lose 20 miles range from a tank so not the best option for touring. Consumption probably goes up due to constantly trying to play tunes and pop bangs with the end can. You'll know what I mean after a few rides out. My FUEL end which I love, sits in its box on a shelf most of the year and comes out to play a couple of times a year for a bit of fun. Anyway I don't want to spoil your fun, ride safe and enjoy 👍. Loving your videos and channel BTW 👌👍
Thanks . All of my bikes have had end cans fitted. The only one I took off was the Arrow one that I had on my Africa Twin. That was road legal and popped and banged really loud. It came with the bike when I bought it used, in the end it was simply just too much and off it came and the oem one went back on. The SC is way nicer sounding and much more "village friendly" . As far as fuel consumption goes, where I live will be a good test for it and I will do an update when I have more info from the fuel consumption on the TFT . Ride safe....pop pop bang bang 🤪
Always very hard to record audio of an exhaust. Looks nice. Good job.
Tried a couple of ways. In the end I gave up and went with what I had as the torrential rains showers beat me !
So good! Thank you so much for the super complete guide. Do you think the installation is the same for an R1250 Rs?
Hi, I think it will pretty much the same . very simple to do.👍
I prefer the original exhaust note...Nice video! Congrats on your brand new SC Project exhaust! Best regards from Argentina!
Thank you 👍 the audio really doesn’t do the sc project any justice . Ride safe 😀
Yeah, it's pretty personal but I not only prefer the sound but also the looks of the original one. Maybe I'll change my mind some time, who knows.
The stock sounds more clean. Thought I'd never say that but, like u said it's hard to record noise.
Yeah for sure
Love the look of the sc project. Dont know if you found the same but the OEM exhaust is a pain to clean. Road grime seems to burn on to it and the material is really hard to clean. Hope the sc is easier to keep looking fresh.
Very easy to clean, wipe with wd40 as per SC's recommendation 🤪, it did melt the corner of my number plate, but that was after 4 days of abuse at high speeds, new plate has been fitted with heat reflective tape added to try and stop repeat melt down hahahahaha
Great vid! I'm awaiting delivery of my new R1250R and am wondering whether to bother replacing the stock exhaust, and if so, what with! I'm torn, my old R1200R had an Akra and Arrow straight through headers and sounded awesome. I'm not sure I love many of the aftermarket exhausts for the 1250 though. I'll see how she sounds when I get her I guess.
Choices, choices 🙈
What's in the cylindrical tube on the back of your licence plate?
Can sounds awesome :)
cheers. it’s my road tax disc.
excellent video!! I enjoyed it and I'm thinking about putting one like this on my BMW GSA. On my bike I also have handlebar rises (Wunderlincj) and I would like to know how many degrees you have it at. If I set it to 0 degrees from the factory, I get the tank. Thank you so much.
Hi, the exhaust is really good, I will try and do another video this week just taking the GS out for a ride. I have not got the risers on anymore as I thought I would do a bit of off roading but changed my mind as the bike cost me too much money to drop it....so the standard ones are back on 😂
Interesting. I actually prefer the stock sound.
Appreciate the comment , good job we are all different . Ride safe . 👍
Can I ask - did you consider the Akrapovic end can as an 'option'?
Keep the videos coming.
Didn’t like the shape of it! The sc is very nice, pops when it needs to and quiet when it needs to be . Wife has no complaints about it either .
@@gsd32i Thanks for that, I was curious because before I saw your video I'd only seen / heard of Akrapovic on GS / GSA's.
Good looking can - hope you don’t mind off point question - what’s the cylinder to the right side of your number plate?
It’s a Road tax disc holder .👍
Ah - got you - thought I’d missed an accessory update - 😁 thanks for the feedback
Hi, I've just got the same exhaust because of your video! I've just used it for 3 km from workshop to the garage, but I found it much quiter than yours, didn't get that many pops and craks than yours... Did you notice a better sound by the time? Thanks in advance! Greetings from Spain
hi. unless they have somehow changed the design/specification I would suggest ride it at the higher revs >4000 . it can be ridden slowly through towns at lower revs and it is quiet , so not to offend anyone, but open it up and it sounds lovely …..well mine does. 👍
Good video ta. Fitted my SC Project SC1-R GT....you up for a SOUND OFF fella?
Indeed 👍
Hi, nice exhaust and I am considering this as well. May I ask what kind of torque wrench so you use. I am trying to buy one to have on my bike but none of them seems to work. I need to fasten my M10x75 as I install a rear hugger from puig and I cannot hear the click sound and I believe that I need to unscrew.thanks is in advance
Apologies for the delayed response ! I use a Norbar TTi50 10-50nm torque wrench . Sometimes have to borrow a friends one for the bigger stuff though .
Hai again ..need to know what type or brand Torque Wrench that you use or best torque wrench that you prefer
This is what I use, from Amazon :
Norbar 13841 Torque Wrench 3/8in Sq Drive 10-50 Nm 8-35 lbf.ft
Nice 👍👍
Thanks 👍
It may be my Christmas gift
@@tassiosgiotas2457 Yup, a great gift .👍
@@gsd32i do you spot a little difference in power?? Or it's early??
@@tassiosgiotas2457 Too early...certainly there is no loss of power. Sounds great though.
Hello, is the bracket welded at a slight angle, or is it parallel to the exhaust
Greeting
I’ve just had a look and it’s pretty much parallel to the exhaust 👍
Good video, considering an SC Project for my R1250RS, so that's a good representation of what it would sound like. It's a bit raspy at tickover? (Nice wall by the way).
Hi Becksy, in initial start up the exhaust valve does it’s thing so it revs about 1400 rpm when it is a bit “ raspy” then it reduces to 900-1000 and is fine . Noise is a bit fruitier than standard but the exhaust sound is great and rising through villages you aren’t going to upset the locals it’s not that kind of exhaust . I would buy it again and I am quite fussy when it comes to noise etc . Some exhausts like the jekyl and Hyde system sound great but are nearly twice the price and you have to have them fitted by an approved dealer ( I think !) good luck in your final choice . 👍
@@gsd32i thanks, I don't want anything noisier, just a bit slimmer, the standard exhaust on the RS is enormous. I think this is the exhaust for me or rather the Xplorer II which is the equivalent. What was delivery like from Italy, and customs charges?
Delivery took about 3 weeks I did chase them up but I guess like everywhere at the time short of parts etc who knows . No issues with it and quality is brilliant . I had to pay about %5 import tax off the top of my head. I guess you could contact your local customs folks and ask about import tax for an exhaust manufactured in Italy as there are loads of codes for items now here in the Uk for specific bits all thanks to Brexit ! Sounds lovely on the bike and just gives it a bit of character that the original is lacking in my opinion . Wipe with wd40 is sc projects advice to keep it looking like new ( for my exhaust anyway ) 😀
That was easy, I thought my original exhaust was welded on
Great video as always, quick question are you in the UK?
I'm thinking of buying the same exhaust and based in the south west of England.
Could you tell me how much UK import tax/costs you had to pay on top of the original purchase price please?
Cheers Mark 👍
Hi . I only had to pay 5% tax as I live in jersey .
I had an Akro fitted to my R1200GS LC, I removed it after c1000m as the droning noise drove me mad. I sold it. I then used the money to pay for petrol. Everybody to their own & I hope whoever swaps their end can enjoys it just not for me, I couldn’t justify the cost.
I know what you mean . SC is very nice and we will see if my wife agrees as we head off to Wales for a few days 🤞🤞🤞
Hi - I am seriously considering fitting one of these to the GS - anything untoward to report after extended ownership?
Hi .
Nope . Quality is awesome , sound is enough to be different with being offensive . Only issue was a trip I did when I rode the pants off the GS on the motorway ended up melting my plastic
Number plate with the heat 😂
@@gsd32i Thanks, that's helpful - I will order the tin number plate in parallel 🙂
Great video very thorough where did you order it ? Direct with sc project could I ask the cost?
Thanks . Bought direct from sc project . €639 + €70 delivery and then any vat applicable. Very nice exhaust 👍
SC in black finish is best choice for me too, how did You keep on with waranty??
On dealership they told me that only with Akrapovic i Will keep on with waranty etc etc....?!??
Well if that’s the case then all the parts I have fitted have voided my warranty ! I guess if the engine blows up (unlikely) then I may have an issue with BMW trying to void the warranty . I have a good relationship with my dealer so not expecting any issues with them or indeed the exhaust/ warranty . Good that we have different colour tastes, life would be boring. If you’re that concerned re exhaust / warranty , speak to your dealer or get them to fit the exhaust. The oem exhaust can be back on in less than 5 minutes ……
@@gsd32i iz seems to me that on Croatia on dealership they dont have understand for customers , waranty only with Akras can, i Will send email to BMW motorad with this problem 👍🏻, many thnx for reply...
What bike helmet do you have on in the video
Hi, its an Arai Tour X4
I notice that they claim a 45%reduction in weight compared with the OEM exhaust. Did you test that claim?
Hi Mark, it is lighter but no I didn’t 😀
Went to order one and it says doesn’t include custom tax , does it add a lot to the price ?
Hi, whatever your VAT area is plus any other import tax, in my area that was 2% plus the VAT.
That sounds perfect! Is the SC project exhaust the one that burns the stock indicators? Any long term feedback? Thanks for the vid 🙇🏻♂️
Edit: also is there a removable baffle in this slip on?
Not removable unless you drill it out as some CZcamsr did 😂.🙈only thing is that the exhaust gases melted the corner of my plastic number plate !! Bit this was only after a 4 day tour recently where I had the bike flat out ! New number plate fitted with heat reflective tape on the back 🤞
@@gsd32i haha 😂 melted the reg. I’ll order a smaller reg too. Thanks for the reply brother 🙏🏻
A great video, but I must say that would drive me barmey all the time.
To be honest it is a very nice sound. Even the wife doesn't mind it.....always difficult to get good sound on the video.🤪
Can I ask if you needed to apply any heat deflector tape to your number plate after fitting the SC Project exhaust? If yes, could you advise what you used?
Thanks
hi. can’t remember where I got mine from, it may have been Amazon , had it laying around in my garage . just make sure it has a self adhesive backing , or get a metal number plate 👍 to be honest it only melted it after i spent 3 days thrashing the gs on the motorways in France . 🇫🇷
@@gsd32i Thanks for the quick response, appreciated 🙏
@@PrinceyBhoy no problem have a great new year .
Is thread locker needed?
you don’t need to but I guess if you want to make sure you could use some medium strength stuff. I just checked mine after several days. only one fixing came slightly undone and that was one of the black small screws attaching the carbon fibre heat shield on …👍
Lovely sound from that can bud.
2 things did you find out why your bike was pulling to the left with the road 6s on?
And could you tell me where you got your frame fill ins from please?
Didn't find out, but they are a fab tyre! Infill panels are from BMW they come with the radiator guards as a kit and not expensive (for a BMW) 👍
Maybe you can remove the silencer tip.
I will be leaving it as it is. Seen a few CZcams videos of people trying to remove baffles etc and they end up failing and making a mess .
How much does it weigh, i missed that part
Hi . 3.6kg 45% less than oem 👍
Hi hope you don’t mind me asking but I’ve just ordered the same exhaust. Could you tell me how did you pay the import taxes on it. I have the exact same bike, had it in October and only done 600miles so thought its time to treat it to a new exhaust 😁🏍️
Hi John . I live in Jersey UK so I only had to deal with my local customs to pay the vat into the island . If you live in England etc you may have to contact your local customs area and ask them exactly what’s needed . Sometimes people are lucky and the item slips through ! Been out on the GS today , sc is lovely 👍
Thank you for getting back to me. I went out Sunday to get the bike miles up for the first service. I can’t believe how good these bikes are. I love watching your videos thank you 👍🏻🏍️
@@Wjross Pleasure , absolutely love my GS. Out on it today in the cold,( for me).More content to come soon, suspension, brakes , traction control, etc keeping it very simple, like me!!! 😂
Great video. Can I just ask the following: 1. Did you get any warning messages on the dash. 2. Did the ECU have to be re-mapped. I'm looking to swop the standard for a Remus 8 on my GS250TB
Hi, nothing at all . No re-map. Obviously I can't comment about the Remus though. Enjoy the extra character when you swap👍
@@gsd32i 👍 Thanks for the reply. Enjoy your video's both riding and maintenance/products, simple easy to follow and informative
Great Video, but to be honest. I think the Stock Can sounds better. To each his own though. If you like it, that’s all that matters.👍👍
Thanks , yup each to their own , out on the bike yesterday and definitely better than stock in every way. Ride safe in ‘23 👍👍
why do you twist the throttle when you shift down?? I see you have the quickshifter for up shifting, that means you also have auto rev match for down shifting.... you down shift with the throttle at 0% and it revs match it for you, sooooo why do you twist the throttle when you down shift, unless you down shift with the clutch pulled in? I dont get it (2022 R 1250 GSA owner here)
Pretty simple really . I find the quick shifter is not that good on the way down so I don’t bother with it most of the time and go back to old school clutch n throttle blip . 👍
@@gsd32i yeah, I figured as much, cool. I have the akrapovic exhaust from the factory and it also has the sound muffler non-removable because of the new euro 5 or 6 or whatever it is now norms. The screws that hold the mufflers in place have a small tack weld on them (which I can get rid of using a Dremel with a small blade) but it's loud enough as it is, similar to the one you just installed on yours.
@@sunnycloudy1337 to be honest the exhaust sounds great and I wouldn’t want to take the baffles out . Just adds a bit of character to the bike . Enjoy the bike and ride safe 👍👍
Hello mate ..need to know how much do you pay for it?
with local taxes etc it was £750. extremely pleased with it, not too loud and pops and bangs just enough. would definitely recommend if you want an exhaust that gives the GS a bit more character without being too loud, if that makes sense.
Hey mate, nice videos. I am plannig to do the same change / upgrade on my GS 1250ADV, why you chose SC intead of others brand like MIVV, Arrow, Akra and so ? What about fule consumptions ? I would like to ask you some other questions, are you able to give me an email address ? I am a collegue ;-) tks man
Hi, send me a message via instagram @GSD32i. Basically chose it because of the looks and quality. It does melt plastic number plates when going flat out though 😂 👍
Ah here it is, a little problem. Nice but it will melt your bike hahaha @@gsd32i
@@robynair123 😂 I just have to get a new metal number plate.....
I'd like that for 20 minutes then it would annoy the f**k out of me.

Charming 😂
Do you seriously need instructions to install a muffler? Two bolts?
