I was having a hard time getting in my wheelchair from my bed I told my husband to make me a transfer board. So he brought in a board and I tried it. Omg it was so much easier with out pain. Now I’ll have to try it when I get my shower and Thursday when I go to my doctor appointment wheelchair to car. It will definitely make my life easier. Yay
That’s funny that you posted this video today. And I just thought of using a transfer board today too. All I need to do now is figure out a easier way to pull my pants up because it’s not easy and is painful on my left arm. I was thinking maybe using a pair of suspenders on my pants just to pull them up. It’s just a thought I’ll have to try it either borrow my husbands or buy a pair

Also, regarding transferring in your shower, I hope youre using the transfer board with a bath bench! You also have to praise the therapists who help people discover these and learn how to use them. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS. We are NOT physiotherapists, and we don’t do boring stuff. We basically help individuals be able to participate in activities they may not be able to do or perform as well, by changing the task, modifying the environment or teaching the person a different way of doing or coping with something. Can you please highlight what we do and make a video explaining our important role in healthcare please? And constructive feedback, I’ve always been told to say occupational therapy instead of OT to help bring awareness to the profession! My job requires that I sit for long periods of time and, therefore, I experience swelling in my ankles and feet which also appears to be related to edema. So I'd like to ask about the footies - what kind of support item is it? Are they considered a type of compression sock? If so, which brands/style did you and/or the patients find useful?
In New Zealand we are very lucky to get tendon transfers in our upper limbs. I’ve have triceps transfers and about to under go key pinch surgery where they pretty much give u finger function back and you can write or grip pretty much anything. Hope cole and charisma can see this comment!!
Sarah: good luck with the tendon transfer surgery! Are you also quad? what level? im a c4-c5 with less function than cole. i decided not to go through surgery, but would love to know a succesfull story. as you know there are not to many tendon transfer surgerys...
luis sebastian ordoñez yes I’ve had a nerve transfer which now lets me extend my fingers, triceps transfer and soon finger tendon transfers to give me grip. I have so much more independence and would recommend getting all the surgeries you can

Cole and Charisma I learned somethings from the video and I myself use a grabber/reacher and a cane and a Walker, I found the information you shared to be quite helpful and informative I look forward to seeing how you have adapted your new home to suit your needs.
I'm a T-5 paraplegic and I absolutely cannot live without my grabbers! I keep a small one in my wheelchair van and 2 larger/longer ones around my house to help me out because bending down or forward is very difficult for me to do but with those it makes it so much easier! I absolutely love your channel! I am also in an interabled relationship and my husband is just amazing, we just get each other so well. Right now I'm in the hospital and have been for the last 3 weeks because I had a UTI that went septic and now I'm trying to get my strength back so I can get back into my wheelchair confidently so I can go home. It's been very hard because I'm so used to being very independent and knowing my routine so well that it's just become like muscle memory and I don't need to think much about it but now I have to get my strength back so I can get back into and out of my chair confidently so I can go home. My 12 year SCI anniversary is coming up on October 17th and my goal is to be home before then! Keep the videos coming, watching your channel while I've been in the hospital has been a lovely, positive distraction!

In that time I got a BA and an MS, certified SCUBA diver, got married, had two great kids who are now great men. I worked for twenty years in supervisory positions. I wouldn’t change a thing.
