    First of all, I say thank you for taking your time to making this video my eyes were opened and my ears listening and I had a smile from ear to ear. I just got home from a long day at work and wanted to see you first and wow. You did answer my questions and I am so appreciative of what you said. The community of bass anglers have been more than beyond grateful to my questions and you are so right this has been a very thoughtful and giving of their knowledge and experience out on the lake. I have been so itching and getting the bug to start my experience out in this huge lifestyle of bass fishing. From watching videos from the most important items you need first to how to rig your kayak and then all the gadgets to put on the kayak then to have your whole tackle collection in your crate…. Brain overload for sure. In even getting ready to be a member of the bass university to get the pros point of view soon. So, thank you sir u will continue to watch your videos on my feed root you on to victory and respond to encourage you and hopefully when you are ready to create your own merchandise start supporting you that way as well. The day that we compete together in a tournament together shake your hand and say thank you. Take care my friend and God bless. Tight lines!!!!

      That's awesome! Thank you my friend! You will certainly find a lot of stuff out there about rigging out your kayak but what I will say is.... make it yours man. Go out in it some. See what you like. See what you don't like and start making your adjustments from there outside of the basics that you'll need, only you know what works best for you my man. Good luck, tight lines and let me know how it goes! I really appreciate your support, that means a lot.

    thanks,YM. I retired 2 yrs ago and joined a local bass club as a co-angler. Like you, I'm competitive and was spending hrs on CZcams. thankfully many of my boaters are willing to teach if you are receptive. unfortunately, as a kayak fisherman, you will not get that experience the same way. I do both, fish my kayak or plastic electric boat as well as local tournements with the "big boys" as a coangler. after a year, i'm finally holding my own. my newest challange is how to slim down my wish list of lures. I've endulged it all..top water, ned , tube bates, carolina, wacky, crankbaits, jerkbaits, buzzbaits, spinners and so on. i fish with 4 rods and two plano boxes and my backback with personal items and tools. I've learned to read the shore line and read fishing reports of the lake i'm fishing. I tend to catch more on my own than as a co angler because I'm willing to work a primising area longer than the "big bass guys" . bottom line...most of these anglers have been fishing since they were kids. co angler etiquette and good conversation ( not too much) and offer to help..bring ice, back in the boat, water, energy bars...will win you knowlege. The key is to have a good time. Even the "best" have days they get skunked. Love your honesty and humility. and btw..another rabit hole is gear, knots, lines...ugh. I'm trying to beware of the sponsored youtube guys and trust my gut more.

      @howardb4 thank you so much! It sounds like you've done a good job of getting some real experience and that is where I want to get to as well. You can absorb information until the cows come home, but nothing beats time on the water. You said something very interesting to me... you talked about reading the shoreline. I'd love to know what you mean and what that is exactly. It sounds like you are able to see something and make decisions based on what you see... I'd love to know that. Thanks again for watching and for the kind words. Good luck with future tournaments and win one from the backseat! That'll be cool!!!

      @@yakkittymack thanks for the reply YM! reading the shoreline is subjective and objective for me. nothing specific I know, but a combination of things I've read, seen, and learned from others. First I look for primary and secondary points, especially if they lead into a water source (creek or river) I love to see current and of course lay down and cover like trees, docks or any other structure over,under or into the water. I look for wildlife: birds, turtles, snakes, and yes even squirrels and deer. I have an old downscan sonar that will show me underwater structure, baitfish, etc but it's amazing how often I catch a nice fish while my sonar shows nothing. so if I see nothing on sonar I ignore it and still fish if it looks promising above the surface. If i see stuff below, I'll work that area longer. I like areas that are in the wind, especially if I'm in the mood to throw a chatterbait or spinner. Lastly, If I'm fishing my "home lake" I pay attention to wear other fisherman hang out and sometimes cover that area later that day or another day. That's all I can think about at the moment. I'll probably remember something else next time I'm on the water.

    I can relate with a lot of your where, how and why you do what you do. Hi there, Billy from the south western part of Indiana, near the confluence of the Wabash and Ohio rivers, also little Wabash, black, patoka, and the green rivers round about me. I'm retired from a large grain farm and nearly half of the land is along the Wabash river, I have had to fight the river a few times. Every year when I was pumping seep water while the river was on the rise, all the fisherman and women would show up back in the middle of the property, old river channels and slew ponds spread out over the property where I grew row crops, there is miles of dirt roads to get to all the different clearings and when they would see or hear me coming with a big tractor they would shake a leg to move their vehicles out of my way. You see when the river is on the rise the fish bite like who wouldn't have it, and these river rats know this. It is private property, no one ever had asked for permission all them years I was the tenant, but I never policed it, the people where respectful about staying out of the way and I never seen any mess left behind. I live in Indiana but this farm is in Illinois, and I couldn't afford any enemy's because at the end of the day I had to leave hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment parked there. I have always wanted to go fishing with my friends and or just myself but I have always been a farmer and had to work a hundred hours a week during fishing season. I always got to go ice fishing, I have everything you need for that, even a depth finder you lay on the ice. And the river rats would have five gallon buckets full of one pound crappies, I never had seen such big pan fish as I seen come off that old river channel, always wanted to join in but I had to make hay when the sun is shining. I'm yapping a lot but this day I have my first kayak coming by UPS, special order, I have been doing some reviews on the how to fish, but I have to wonder if a man has to have some special gift to get fish to come at you like a magnet, I mean I have been with friends fishing and I can be in between them with the same bate bucket the same line and the same everything, I even have prayed for them to come to me but it's like a walk in the dark, but my buddies can't keep there lines in the water because soon as their line hits the water, another bluegill takes the bait, while I'm just standing there watching. It's been this way to

      @user-cv6zh7fp8z thank you for sharing Billy! I am from Indiana so I definitely know the areas you are talking about. I'm from Indy, so I'm more familiar with the reservoirs and lakes closer to central Indiana. I moved to the south nearly 10 years ago. Getting your first kayak is exciting, I also ordered mine online and had to wait for it to be delivered, so I know that feeling. I know sometimes it can feel like you are doing everything and yet the fish won't cooperate, but luck really is a factor. We just can't see what is going on down in the water and why they choose one bait over the other, but your day will come, trust me. Be careful on those rivers, current can be tricky in a kayak. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! I hope to hear more from you and let me know how your fishing trips go. You've worked hard...now it's time to play!

    Rubber worms are one of the most versatile, effective, yet forgiving lures you could throw.

    • @yakkittymack
      @yakkittymack  Před 2 měsíci

      @fishntools yes sir, you are 💯 percent correct. That was the first new style of lures that I learned a few months ago and it has become my go to. So far I've only fished them Texas rigged, but I plan on learning wacky and Carolina rig soon. Thank you for watching!

    Good video buddy, I like the off the water reflection style stuff. Learning new baits and techniques is a slow process for sure. With every trip we get a little better. You mentioned the ned rig, if you ever want to learn that one easily go out and throw it in salt water around creek mouths and grass lines. Flounder and redfish are suckers for small baits hopped on the ned.

    • @yakkittymack
      @yakkittymack  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you friend, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I've got so much to learn but I'm impatient as hell. I went Sunday to Byrnes, tossed a toad, worm, and swim bait and couldn't get anything. 6 hours of throwing my arm out and nothing but 1 pickeral. It was full of lily pads but I couldn't get bit. I have no idea what would have worked or if they were even there. That's the part that gets me frustrated the most....where the hell are they? 😂 Once I can figure out how to find them, then I'll work on new techniques. @Eightmile_Drifter
