    I owned one these in the early/mid 90's. I never had any problems with 'finger in the front of the lens', or with the 'rectangle in the viewfinder'. It cost me around £100/£120 new. It's a decent little camera, for its time. If you paid $100 for yours now, I'd say you paid well over what it's worth. Just to note.., Kodak Portra is a professional grade film. ( and rather expensive, especially at today's prices for 35mm film ). Olympus generally do decent lenses, but that film will have helped in your pics. Most people who used this camera back in the day would never be using a professional grade film in what was a mass market consumer point and shoot. Nice pics though.

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Thanks for the insight. I might add that based on current market values, shooting Olympus glass like this for $100 is a steal when the Mjus are going for several hundred.
      It’s a point and shoot and wasn’t meant for anything special when it came out, but now we are living in a world where point and shoot photos can make it into high fashion magazines and model books.
      Gosha Rubchinsky campaign photos were shot on a Contax T2 which is still a point and shoots. Times have changed.

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 3 lety

      What an absolute steal. I'm a big fan of Olympus's lenses and the Olympus AF-10 is definitely packing. The quality of image is so comparable to the mju series. Only minor sharpness in my pixel peeking experience. Now, if you get your shots scanned at high res, then you'll see that the difference is marginal and that the price difference is TOTALLY a matter of trend inflation. The same happened with the Konica BM201, which are dinky little things that have a reputation for irreparable breaking. Hope this helps! 🤙

    What’s the difference between the normal af 10 and the quartz date version

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 3 lety

      So the AF-10 is the Quartz-date, but often times the quartz-date is left out or shortened to "QD" because it is implied. So, they are the same camera. A major question is the difference between the Olympus AF-10 "QD" and the "Super" as those are the two major differing models of the AF-10 series

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 2 lety +1

      You CAN use a phone with a film scanning app and have no problems for instagram because your resolution will be okay :). I used a flatbed scanner called the EPSON V550! So basically you’ll have a roll of negatives after getting your photos developed and the next thing you need to do is find the best resolution for the lowest price! There are kits for scanning with household cameras, phones, and tons of economical flattened scanners for film. Otherwise you’d need to use a film lab! I hope this answered your question 🍻

    Hi, what do you think of MJU1 compared to Olympus af-10 Super?

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 3 lety +2

      The differences fall into DX code readability. The af 10 can go up to 1600 ISO while the Mjui can do 3200. The mjui also has a slightly better focusing system and lens. If I were traveling to Europe, I would bring the AF 10 Super simply because I prefer the durability of the body and the price on Ebay is still excellent IMO.

      It means that the mechanism for advancing the film is not automatically working. When you close the back after putting the film in, the camera should automatically begin advancing the film by three frames. As for P&S I am not one to spend much money on cameras as I am more focused on the photos themselves, so I try to stay within my means. I have had a lot of experience with Olympus P&S and I would probably invest in an XA2 just because of how well it performs in almost every situation and the price isn't nearly what a Contax T2 is.
      There is also the Nikon L35AF2 that I have used and enjoy shooting with, another brick! It is a less expensive version of the L35AF with a 3.5 lens instead of a 2.8. I recommend that one for sure, too.

    Can you explain why do 35mm film photos look more clear/sharp than a $600 24 MP Mirrorless camera?

    • @Brandongorrie
      @Brandongorrie  Před 3 lety

      So theres a lot that can make an image look sharper both in the image and on the screen. First and foremost I can say that objectively the 35mm photos wouldn't compare to a $600 sensor. However, there are other factors that would make it seem so. 1.) Editing the photos for better quality with a youtube compression in mind. 2.) Adding some sharpness to the image itself. And 3.) That the image itself will look sharp regardless because it is compressed. If we compared a digital image of a mirror less camera to a 35mm image from an AF10 side by side, you'd immediately see that the mirrorless would be much sharper!
