Another step worth adding is after you have connected the battery you need to close the bonnet/hood, there is a switch on the bonnet catch that needs to be in the closed position to get the amber light to the green state.

Kept getting the flashing amber istop light instead of the green. Went ahead with the next steps anyway - steering wheel lock & the rest. IT STILL WORKED - i-stop re-enabled successfully - so if you don't get the green flash don't lose hope, try the rest of the steps anyway.

Thanks for the video,i have just fitted a brand new battery, (Q85 MF Century) and i have a 2018 Mazda 3, with the 2.5L engine, i found i only had to do the first few steps and it worked, i disconnected the negative terminal, unclipped the sensor, waited 5 minutes, connected the terminal, waited 10 seconds, connected the sensor again. I got in my car turned on the ignition, waited 15 seconds, pressed the istop button for 10 seconds, the istop dash light stayed flashing on amber, i thought something wrong with the battery?? i turned the ignition off, tried the same procedure with the ignition again, this time the istop dash light did not flash, but stayed on a solid amber color, i pressed the istop button again and the istop dash light went out. i pressed the istop button again and the istop dash light came on and stayed a solid green. I took the car for a test drive and everything back to normal, istop is working correctly, warning lights in the dash gone.

If I-stop isn’t working your car may need a long uninterrupted run on the motorway for at least 15 mins to clear the DPF filter. Don’t use the brake, keeping the revs over 2.000. Mazda recommends this about every 2 weeks to keep the DPF filter clear (improves mpg too👌🏻)

Didn’t work for me as per few others here. I can get i-stop light flashing green after reconnecting the negative terminal and battery sensor (and closing the bonnet - tried that at 2 different points in the sequence). However the battery malfunction light never turns off. It’s a brand new battery and we’ve been driving all week without i-stop. When I start the engine it goes back to flashing amber - nothing works from step 8 onwards for me. By the way second time in the lifetime of the car we’ve changed battery as it’s a 2018 CX-5. Maybe the car’s just weird.

@@CalThePal True. We’ve changed battery twice now - once every 3 years. My old Camry could go 5-6 years per battery. Couple that with the labour cost of recalibrating a new battery at a Mazda dealership = $$$$ that could be saved without the pesky i-stop. I think Mazda just does it to comply with Euro emission standards.

No doesn't work. Tried for 3 hours. Something is not adequately explained and the procedure is not consistent with some of the comments anyway. I just get a steady amber istop on the display, even with a brand new fully charged battery. So I never get past step 7. Did that loop about 14 or 15 times. Even ran the car for 30 min to make sure engine hot and went back to the start of the procedure. Same outcome.
The whole istop concept is seriously flawed, you just wreck batteries faster = more battery waste, more cost, more money for garage workshops. There are no savings at all.
