People give this episode a lot of shot for being too “kiddy” but I thought it was charming. Being in band myself for the past 10 years, it was nice to see a story of a small little band playing a rinky-dink club we bust it up by Boba Fett only get it get involved with mob bosses and executions, and then turn it around to get said my boss to be their sponsor. How creative, enjoyable, and wholesome.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the voice of the singer?!?!
Note to self: If I'm ever a Padawan fleeing from death and my lightsaber smashes on the ground after falling a long distance, I'm going to at least check whether it still works at some point during the months/years that I'm hiding from the Empire.
What you didn’t see was their music incited a slave rebellion, and that’s how Tatooine was freed.
Japanese version blows this one out the water vocally you guys should give that a listen!
My only complaint is that Jay’s alt rock yelling white boy early 2000’s Star Wars song was TOO SHORT. I need a whole album. A song? One verse. I need something to replace Boba Fett and His Best Friend Slave One being on a loop in the back of my mind at all times always.
I wouldn't be surprised, if We see this band somewhere in The Mandalorian Saga. Esp. on Tatooine.

This plays better in its native Japanese, the tone fits better as does the songs, English dubs don't always fit well and for me this is an example of that, still a great reaction.

I have a huge soft spot for Tatooine specifically, and also the whole idea of exploring what the 'normal' people in the Star Wars universe due - art, recreation, etc. I'm also really into music and rock specifically (my parents were active in the local nightclub circuit as musicians). One thing that I would have found funny was (depending on when in the timeline this is - I get the impression it's somewhere between RotS and ANH especially given they make a point of showing Kenobi's hut) if in the montage they showed something like Luke and his buddies in Tosche Station or maybe at the Lars homestead annoying the shit out of Owen and Beru with his loud music.
I also kinda wish the seismic charges had shown up simply because they are so musical :)
Anyway, kind of a silly story and not hugely profound but I do really love the idea of some poor Padawan who is in over his head escaping a battle and Order 66 by basically leaving the Order to join a band and spreading the light through music :)
The best part of the episode was Boba just jamming out in Book of Boba I NEED to see him and Fennic jamming out to the radio in Slave 1
The music really reminds me of The Pillows, who did the music for the trippy, coming of age, mecha anime FLCL
This series has been a blast. I can honestly say that if they wanted to expand any of them into a longer series I would be there for it.

This was the most anime episode but I KNEW Jay was going to love this one! I kept saying that through the whole thing!

I think my favorite part of this episode was the tiny little droid that basically just acts as a hype man, zipping around the stage and waving its little arms.

This episode especially seems to work better in Japanese, especially the music… although it is nice to hear some of the English voice cast. Personally I prefer the Japanese but I’ll check out your reaction later either way!

I actually thought the music was horrible in English. Going back and switching to Japanese it sounds s much better. And I grew up on punk music then later more pop punk stuff as I got older.

I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a good job, IMO, given he's never put out an album before. And Bobby Moynihan gave us the first Hutt we could actually jam with. I think you guys are being too hard. Then again, I know nothing about showbiz and singing so I'll defer to your collective wisdom.

I started out not liking this episode but it slowly grew on me. I'll take this band over that nightmare fuel they inserted into Jabba's Palace in Return of the Jedi. As far as the other episodes it seems like they are very loose when it comes to the lore. Which I think is fine. But I can Imagine hardcore fans screaming, "That's not how that works!".
Overly-invested, gatekeeping super-fans ruin a Property.
The song is 10000x better in Japanese, because it was written in Japanese. The translation+voice actor made it really rough in English. It was a fucking banger in the original Japanese. We started watching it in JP on the concert part of this episode, and the whole series is overall better in the JP audio.
People are making good points about the choice of dub. But then again, we got so mcuh comedy out of this one!

Didn't care for any of the characters except ... boba And a three headed guy was pretty cool idea.. Out of the whole series I think two are good and I wanna see more of Episode five and eight did it for me ...the rest were quite out there and ahh Boring to be honest...Bunny girl and sabersmith daughter Would love to see more

My least favorite episode. In fact I kinda hated it.
I hated it.... all of it.
As a guy who'd seen the original Star Wars in the theater back in the 70s.... this episode was off putting. It wasn't meant for me. I get it. But it left me scratching my head and wondering how far these "Visions" were going to go off the ranch.
As far as they can. They gave them to a bunch of *Japanese Animation Studios--including **_Trigger._* Just what did you expect???

Interestingly, of the 3 I've seen so far, this is the only one that could actually fit inside the canon as far as I know. The other two, while more Star Wars-y in their stories/themes/aesthetic, clearly take place in a universe where stuff with the Jedi/Sith played out very differently. But this totally could have been some band that showed up on Tatooine circa ANH (or maybe a bit before) and Luke and his buddies jammed to it in Tosche Station.

There were things I liked about this episode and things I didn't. Still would rather watch it again than repeat a single episode of What If.
This episode made me worried for the series. I guess I just expected it to be something else.
Ep1 started so strong. I dont want to say I hated Ep2. But like... I couldnt have cares less for it. I dont hate it because I mean... it doesnt offend me so why hate it. But I could not have cared any less for it and had I not seen it, knowing what it was, I would not have cared.
But now I worry with each episode thinking "is this going to be for me or is it going to be made for some 12 year old anime fans?"
I dunno. Im being a hater. Im just not an anime fan. But Ep1 was amazing and I wanted more... only to then get Ep2 and respond with "wtf is this shit?"
I think you should continue with it. There’s some really good gems in there.

I definitely agree, there’s just not much about the plot that makes it ‘Star Wars’. But some of the later ones like episodes 5 and 8 are very good.

Honestly really didn’t care for this one, while it wasn’t offensively bad like some later ones it didn’t need to be in the Star Wars universe. Nothing about it’s plot hinges on something Star Wars related.
This was my least favourite Episode in this Series and the only one that I realy didn´t like.

Might want to watch these in Japanese... not to be cliché but the voice acting is better.
I agree that not all dubs are great, mainly because they over-emphasize or don’t put too much effort into it, but no Japanese dubbed version of Boba Fett will ever be able to be better than Temuera Morrison at the role. That’s my statement.

They watch them in English so they can react to them better, Jesus Christ! As are pretty much every reactor out there. I'm sure the Japanese dubs are great, but y'all need to really chill with commenting on the videos to watch them in Japanese.
They can do that in their own time, at home. It just doesn't work well for this medium.

The first ep felt like a well written short story. I want to know more, but it was complete. This one was the mediocre pilot of a series. I have so many questions, but I also don’t really care.

I'll never watch this horrible episode ever again. Already seeing questionable fans willing to die on the hill of this episode, those same people who think Jar Jar is fun. Worst Star Wars anything since Phantom Menace.

And anime fans wonder why new fans often get turned off. Insisting people watch in Japanese for a reaction CZcams video doesn't make sense.
I understand where you're coming from, but you also need to take into account that they have to go with which version works best for what they do. Pretty hard to be cracking jokes and riffing off the content if you have to spend the entire time reading just to keep up. They're not implying that the dubbed version is better just because that's the one they're using.
