When would-be producers Dr. Schlenna (S.Z. Sakall) and Farnsworth (Edward Everett Horton) want to sign Dinah Shore (Herself) to perform in their war effort fundraiser extravaganza, they are forced to deal with Miss Shore's problematic bandleader boss, Eddie Cantor (Himself). Enter a wannabe star who looks like a twin of Eddie Cantor (also Eddie Cantor), a band of Hollywood Indians and dozens of stars out to and entertain the GIs and fun is had by everyone, including the celebrities on stage.

I don't think I've ever seen Olivia in a comedic role. She had the chops to do comedy here and it's too bad we didn't see her do more.
It's Love I'm After and The Great Garrick are excellent comedies with Olivia. She also did the screwball comedy Four's a Crowd with Errol Flynn and Rosalind Russell, which is quite funny, although a bit of a mess.

Yep. George Tobias was his name, and he was a character actor who appeared in dozens of motion pictures, from the 30s to the 70s. A great many for Warner Brothers. It's a shame that this channel wouldn't bother to give him proper credit.

They should have dubbed him with a truly magnificent speaking voice, such as Percy Helton's.
It's comedy so Olivia moves like a drunk and mugs like crazy. Ida dances groovily and looks pretty throughout. We watch her.
NO WONDER de Havilland sued to break her contract. Two years in court had to be less embarrassing than... Well, this.
I don't think she'd have minded this as it was an all star Warners cast mainly made as entertainment during WWII with profits going to the Canteen & war effort
