I was watching a reaction to a Fabian belting vid by a very trained vocalist who commented that Fabian's belts are "lush" - something that belts are not by nature according to him. So whatever he means by lush, it is not a quality of most belts. He went on to give a great mechanical explanation of it all - that went over my head 😆. Said her belting was remarkable & in a league of it's own.
I find this to be a silly comparison to be honest. Both of them are extremely talented vocalists, but Sohyang's voice is "thinner" and flourishes from Eb5 and upwards, while Lara's is so much thicker and her belts therefore sound much fuller and stronger in mid belts. I don't see any similarity in their voice except perhaps clarity.
There re a lot of Lara Fabian live performances that re so perfect, I dont know who created this awkward belting battle No body in this industry, past and present that can possess the kind of belting with resonance like Lara,I'm glad I met and discovered her on youtube,all her music is creativity, she is a master class artist, I'm learning some techniques from her and its working out for me resonantly,even though Celine was afraid that she will take her spot ,she block all the radio stations not to play Lara Fabian songs,but at long last, good music will surely reign bcuz its last forever, thanks to social media platforms,

Very good review. I think many of Sohyang's recordings were clearer than Lara's, perhaps because Lara's were recorded in a different technical age. There is no doubt that these two masters are among the greatest contemporary singers. Making an allowance for Lara's phenomenal and unique breath control, they are pretty equal technically. However, while my body resonates in sympathy to Lara's round tones I find Sohyang's piercing sound uncomfortable to listen to.
Lara and Sohyang are full lyric sopranos which can hit high notes easily, but the characteristics of their voice are different from one another. Lara has a Strong, powerful,clear belting range, that has a dark, heavy timbre. Sohyang, She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals with characteristics being a homogeneous, rounded, and bright instrument of remarkable beauty and meticulous control.
There is so much difference in the richness of the voice. Sohyang is more like Dimash in his vocal outbursts. Lara Fabian is in the voice style of Withney Houston, Barbra Streisand and the great singers. And yet, Lara Fabian is Dimash's idol. You understood very well the meaning of having richness in your voice. Thank you from Montreal.

The DEPTH from where Lara fetches her notes in addition to the amount of air she is able to take in (her lung capacity), and then how she combines these two as part of the mechanism to create necessary effect that's needed. NO-ONE does it even nearly the way LARA does it. The mechanism will include, essentially, every part from the larynx (with vocal cords/folds) to the lips. Professionally trained singers are generally aware of each part when they sing. The voice is their livelyhood and they would take great care not to unnecessarily damage any part. To this end, there is a huge lesson to learn from our Queen, LARA. Please, accept that she is the greatest who comes with the entire package. She is the source from which to draw...
Sohyang definitely has a higher set tessitura and a lighter voice. To my ears Sohyang has the more neutral/natural sound, but Lara's darkened round sound sounds more pleasing most of the time. I'm not sure about her training, but Lara clearly shows some classical background in her singing, Sohyang has a more "pop/church/contemporary" sound.

I don't know i always felt like Lara mixed 80% head voice and 20% chest very resonate but I never felt that extreme power people say or weight. Where as soyhang has a lighter voice but I feel like she sings with more chest and power she's just not as resonate if that makes sense.
Both technically proficient but I think Lara has something special. I think the other one has a little more resonance but it also makes it sound a little sharp sometimes. I also think that Lara sounds like she's screaming sometimes. It's a matter of preference they both have ridiculous talent. Miss Fabian still sounds good after 30 years let's see about vocal preservation and how the other one sounds because Velasquez sounds terrible now.
Sohyang has had a very healthy career spanning over 20 years and there has never been a time that she has ever strained let alone even falter. She is one of the most consistent singers on this planet. Lara has a great tone but it is evident who maintains a better technique as we go higher into their range.
Lara - please pronounce her name well - is musical and NEVER pushes, shouts, even less screams. The other one does... and is a singer. Lara always has a beautiful Tone, and she is an ARTIST !

Sohyang does not push whatsoever if she did she would have a constricted sound. She sounds nice and full throughout her range while maintaining great airflow. She always has natural vibrato on her belts and very rarely falters in her entire career.
Higher range does not make you more complete. Being able to sing higher doesn’t make you superior. There are plenty of mezzos that are far superior to many sopranos even though they can’t go as high.
@@debutriah2854 Sohyang actually has better lows than Lara and a more developed head voice and agility. In that sense, she's more well rounded regardless of her upper register.

I think it's nicer to hear a full, deep voice than a shrill, aggressive voice.
