We SMASHED this guy.
"I control my anger better because I get cat called and sometimes mansplained to", didn't Bruce have a physically abusive father? This writing is so tone deaf
As a woman I am tired of female characters in media like MCU She-Hulk that crap on men for no good reason. You can have a girl boss that still respects men...Princess Peach did that in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and I appreciated that.
That "Hm" from Hulk when She Hulk claims she's better at controlling her anger was beautiful. Probably wasn't meant to but it sounded like he's calling her BS without openly stating it.
I just love how Cosmonaut suggests that She-Hulk is barely antagonistic towards men, when the clip of her calling her suicide survivor cousin who was hunted by the military for a major portion of his life, a b*tch who doesn’t know what struggle even means because he’s a guy, was the clip Marvel used to PROMOTE the show. They used that as their first foot forward. They WANTED people to have the worst moment in the show as their first taste of it.
Probably one of the worst things is how Jenn responds to getting her powers. In the comics she LOVED having powers. As a human she was shy, self concious, had an inferiority complex and basically was a mess. Once she got her power she finally felt confident in herself, was able to appreciate who she was and that she was a genuinely likeable person and most important while she was grateful to Bruce for giving her said powers, she still understood that she lucked out in getting a weaker, more controllable Hulk transformation Bruce would've likely given anything to have and was very understanding and compassionate towards Bruce, always being there to give him a hand, a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen to.
Jenn criticizing heroes with "daddy issues" seems kinda out of left field for me personally. Like so they had a rough upbringing and still managed to become more than the sum of their parts and want to play an active role in helping the world, what is wrong with that? It's something both women and men go through and it sucks for both and isn't the fault of either.
I will concede that She-Hulk is not completely the worst show ever. After all, Velma exists.
She-Hulk is the most accurate comic show every, is FALSE.
Wait did....they demonise that guy who dated She-Hulk because he has sexual prefferences and wouldn't date someone he's not attracted to ?
The only merit to Cosmonaut’s statement of She-Hulk not being the worst show is that Velma exists
It’s funny that everyone complains about that speech but no one ever points out the irony that he was just sitting there with a smile on his face while she was yelling at him that he’ll never be as good at controlling his anger as her.
If even Tumblr says it's cringe, you know it's bad.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how classy Shady was being in this video by letting his guest star have the limelight in most joke segments? He wrote this and was cool with being the butt of the joke in the closing segment.
Also what makes it worse is She-Hulk is a likeable character. She's strong, smart, confident and the likely in the comics, but is also compassionate, considerate and even humble at times. She is NOTHING like this wine chugging, work obsessed, ego maniac we're stuck with.
"I can totally control my anger" she says after nearly killing some guys the night before for catcalling her and being a bit pushy. Later on I'm pretty sure she makes fun or mentions all his trauma in a derogatory way as if the fact that it still effects him is his fault and not because he's deeply scarred by traumatic events and tried to self delete himself. Has her life ever been so bad that she tried that? Nope. She lives a privileged life as a lawyer in an expensive apartment and is somewhat attractive but can't find a guy to date because her writers wrote all the guys to be
Keep in mind that even Doug, who had a more measured opinion about She-Hulk, straight up admitted that he stopped watching the series because he just couldn't take it.
I think this could be boiled down to one statement: "Just because you like something, doesn't mean that other people are 'stupid' for not liking it"
"People just don't like it because Jen said 'dudes don't rock sometimes'"
Cosmonaut is notorious for being annoying. He does bare minimum research ( and is still wrong) and usually tells others how dumb they are.
