They'd better. Jim starlin is also a noted Batman writer, the burning logo was probably lifted from ZORRO into BOTH Batman and Daredevil, and "trending" is not a dated culture reference, it's just our CULTURE. So is "making headline news", I wouldn't call it dated even if it does date the production period.

And apparently they cancelled it quick as hell. I honestly don't know what's on TV now, nor do I care. And them cancelling a decent show that I might have enjoyed is exactly why. Even with that weird ass fucking disgusting voice they got for Uncle Scrooge. At least you can say that it wasn't Quack Attack. Which is a compliment to any form of media.
If there were no original voices used in the show, then I can see why this is anyone's favorite episode of the series. Hell, I started playing the Arkham series of games BECAUSE Mark Hammil and Kevin Conroy were in it. And I quit playing them when they quit. Once you've experienced perfection, fuck the new shit.
The same can be said now for post Endgame MCU. All they're doing is trying to appeal to other audiences now that the core of the Avengers is gone. And thus they have completely turned me off of ever watching a Marvel Movie again. And I laugh in their god damn faces if they think I'm paying for their streaming services just to watch old shit.
And oh my god, don't get me started on Matrix 4. EVERYONE was still alive and kicking. Hugo Weaving straight out said no because of something else he was doing, who gives a shit what it was. And they didn't even contact Laurence Fishburne. I'm gonna chalk up all those bad decisions that went into making the 4th movie as an insane eunuch director having a mental breakdown.
I understand that some situations can't be avoided like actors or voice actors dying, but at the same time I don't give a shit if you try to move the IP forward without putting basic common sense into the mix. I paid for your shit in the past because I liked it. I'm not paying for your shit now because I don't like it. Simple as that.

Whereas Darkwing, as a parody of Batman (and other similar heroes) only uses things like his gas gun, intimidation, and KUNG-FU ACTION that is more likely to subdue the badguys with a few bruises and broken bones (which two of the main four probably don't even have).

One of the best parts of this twist is that it feels so in character for Darkwing to sneak into a movie about himself so he can replace the actor. Like that genuinely sounds like it could be an episode of the original show. Of course in the original show he would probably see the error of his ways by the end of the episode thanks to Gossalyn or Launchpad (which he kind of does before the explosion).
I love one of DW's final lines in this.
    Launchpad : Gizmoduck does it.
Darkwing: I am better than Gizmoduck.
The delivery of that line was amazing and it showed that while the new Darkwing wasn't quite as proud as the old one he still has a bit of that trademark pride (and irrational hatred for Gizmoduck).

Instead they gave that uber rare honor to Star VS the Forces of Evil and it unfortunately didn't use it as well as it could have. Ducktales would have used that extra season super well, guaranteed, and we'd probably have had an even stronger ending than we did if the F.O.W.L. plot line had extra time to develop. And of course we'd likely have seen more Negaduck and Daisy, as well. If you really pay attention, Jim's voice starts off as the DW voice we all think of, loud, energetic, enthusiastic. But as the episode goes on, it slowly goes lower and lower, as well as getting gruffer and shaper, until that final scene, where he's fully tapped into that Nega-Duck voice. It's so brilliantly subtle, and i LOVE how it showcases Jim going off the deep end and embracing his villainous side.

I've never watched Darkwing Duck, I've only ever seen one or two episodes of the new Ducktales reboot (Woohoo!), but seeing Shady geek out and enthuse over everything that happens in this episode and explain in such loving depth WHY he loves it so much was just SO. FREAKING. ENJOYABLE.
Don't get me wrong, I love seeing Shady analyze and critique, and I know that when he does it's usually out of a place of LOVE for the source material, but hearing him just go full fanboy enthusiastic and spend basically an entire video telling you why he's bursting with love and enthusiasm with this was WONDERFUL. Personally I'd love more videos like this.

The sad part is it really WAS supposed to be Nega Duck's Origin. I talked with Jim personally about this and found out that until his wife pulled a #MeToo during their Divorce, Disney got a little leery about having him in projects. The original script for the Stealth Pilot of Darkwing Duck was going to have a disguised Nega Duck working as Professor Taurus Bulba's assistant and taking over the project, bringing forth his villains in an effort to destroy the new Darkwing... and then getting pulled back into their reality with them, effectively remaking it into the timeline of the Darkwing Duck show WE watched IRL.
While things got settled and he was in the clear, sadly Disney axed Duck Tales before its time. A shame because Season 4 would have given us a proper Nega Duck arc.

I was basically like you the whole episode, loving and praising Jim Starling's Darkwing voiced by Jim Cummings, and being adamantly against the "imposter" until it dawned on me, wait a second.... Jim's being a lot like Negaduck right now. *Oh no*. And the reveal that this "imposter" WAS Drake Mallard all along was so clever. And then, to top ALL OF THAT off, Jim Starling revealed to be the origin of Negaduck right when Darkwing becomes real too... to say I fangirled just like you is an understatement. That ending with both of those reveals ALONE is what elevated this show to become my #1 top show EVER, and it kept that honor for several years afterward.

It was so wonderful to hear the same passion and love for the show Darkwing Duck that I feel coming from you. And you're dead on. This show is the prime example of how to do a reboot, how to make something that you love as good as what you loved. And it's deeply ironic that this is coming from the House of Mouse.
Honestly, if the people who worked on this show were to tackle the other Saturday morning Disney shows with this sort of style, I would be ecstatic. But I also know that's not gonna happen. Those old shows are bound to where they are, and for better or worse we're never gonna see another Gargoyles, or Tailspin, or Darkwing Duck.
And with how Disney behaves right now? Yeah it's disappointing. But maybe that isn't the worst thing in the world either.

Disney would do better if they put all of that Disney Snow White remake money toward continuing this version of Ducktales... or at the very least this new Darkwing Duck crew's untold story.
I know that, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have worked on questionable projects in the past, but they did reach out to original series creator Tad Stones so who knows, maybe it will be better than we initially thought?
Besides thanks to IMDb we now know it has reached Production - which means it is in the stage of being recorded/ animated this very moment.
My only hope is that they bring back Jim Cummings or Chris Diamantopoulos to reprise the role of Darkwing Duck.
However, if they get anyone else beside Jim to voice Nega-duck... I can't even imagine anyone else who could fill the role. AND THAT'S A FACT!

13:11 this hits especially hard. Fictional characters have always played a big role in my life even to this day. They can be role models, or sources of comfort. Of course they're main role is for entertainment, but I goes beyond that. Fictional characters have played such a major role in my life that it nice hearing someone else expressing this

Dude, I'm going to be honest. I was fanboying every single moment you did in this video. Honestly I was a fan of darkwing duck as a kid and watched it every chance I could because I was always a fan of heroes. This was the truest sense of a love letter to the fans.

Didn’t know that was your favorite show. (Great show to have as a favorite though!)

This may sound strange to Americans, but to me and surely many other European 90s/early 00s kids, Darkwing Duck was literally THE superhero franchise. It's not because it was so huge (well, Donald Duck is way bigger in Europe than Mickey Mouse), but because things like Superman comics and cartoons just were nowhere in the cultural landscape. Only other superhero show that could compete with the Duck was the Batman Animated series (when we read comics it was stuff like Asterix or Tintin).
Ask 10 German-speaking guys and I will ASSURE you you will find more than one that can still remember some words or hum along the Darkwing Duck opening.

two, in Russia this animated series was very popular. I remember how it was shown on TV at 7 in the morning. Any person from Russia will be able to sing a theme from this animated series.By the way, in Russia he was not called darkwing Duck, his pseudonym was "black cloak".

Crazy idea, given that it's getting closer to Halloween what are the odds you'll do a review of any Halloween themed shows or episodes?

While I'm too young to have been a fan of the original Darkwing, this episode quickly became one of my favorites. Fandom's a huge part of my life, and seeing this love letter to it in the form of Drake and Launchpad's genuine passion for the show really got me in the heart. And watching people who actually WERE fans of the original has me grinning so hard from pure secondhand joy. I felt it every single time you fangirl-squealed gskdkf
(And yeah, I do have plans to watch the original cartoon at some point. I wanna see what all the hype's about!)

You know they are some rumours about making a new Darkwing Duck show with the version of the Ducktale reboot; which are maybe just the hopes of some fans who want to see more of these characters, but you know what they say : hopes bring life.
