    Dozens of young environmental activists, including a toddler, have sued the South Korean government for not tackling climate change. The public hearing, held on April 23, 2024, included four petitions from children and infants dating back to 2020. Swiss activists won a similar case against their government in early April.

    The record 2024 heatwave hitting East Asia must’ve evaporated all the logic out of South Korea as climate change is a global crisis that cannot be solved by one country.

      I don’t think so. In East Asia, my parents don’t really talk about climate change, but I learned it when I was young at school anyway.

      Because children have to live with the consequences of a changing climate? I hate arguments like “why can’t they fight for their beliefs in effective ways?” in what effective ways? Voter turn out is high in SK. They protest. And the government largely ignores them… usually the “why can’t they fight for the beliefs in effective ways?” argument means you just don’t want to hear them or don’t want to inconvenience your lifestyle. It’s always done in bad faith.

    It's not a governmental problem. It's a global problem
    As big a country as South Korea is, it's still not a solving climate change on its own. Even if it was net carbon zero, its sister country will transfer all that carbon downwards with its warmonger methods.
    Multiply that to bigwigs like China, Russia, USA... Their carbon footprint ain't going down anytime soon.
    Future generations gotta prepare to suffer. We're feeling the effects now.
