@@5jjtOne, HKs will hardly ever need any kind of parts replacements. Second, taking apart HKs is not hard at all. I used to think anything other than Glock was complicated. But after a simple CZcams video I fully disassembled my USP40 and put it back together with absolutely no issues. It’s not hard at all and it’s not required to be performed often. Most people never fully disassemble their guns ever anyway.

@@5jjt I disagree... You can find EVERY single part of a P30SK, and I mean all the way down to the last pin and small spring. Then, completely taking down a P30SK is not more complicated than a full takedown of any other handgun I've seen out there. You only need a couple of punches, a plastic mallet, and some patience. There are a couple of videos on the net that show the complete takedown of the P30 family and they're extremely easy to follow. THAT SAID. It's very unlikely that you need to do a complete takedown of a handgun in normal conditions. Normal care and cleaning only require field stripping (which is very easy) and ye olde common sense caring. There are a couple of things that would prevent me from buying this gun though:
1- It's expensive for its class
2- It's very difficult to find (even some online stores have it back ordered for long periods)
Setting that aside, this is a purchase you don't usually regret.

Enjoyed this video. Love both my V1 LEM P 30 sk and my VP9 sk. I’ve been carrying striker fired pistols since 1989 . I’m also left handed so for me the LEM works great and feels like a striker fired pistol with the added safety of a hammer. The new 12 round flat base plate and 15 round extended mags from HK are nice too.

I installed the Gray Guns Short Reset Kit, and it made a positive improvement in my speed, as I was used to the short reset of Glocks. My accuracy remained the same though. I also installed Trijicon HD Night/Fiber Sights. Really love the gun now.

I usually run mine with the 13 round magazine, makes it about the same size grip as a P2000, which has also become a regular in my carry rotation. These may be older designs by today's standards, but I still love hammer fired guns for ccw, the ergonomics are great, the recoil impulse is great, you really can't ask for more, the micro compacts like the shield plus and p365 are all the rage these days but I love the fact I can slap a 20 round full size magazine in here and it works with the larger guns, it's a complete system IMO. Great video as always.

I have a p2000 started off in da/sa but switched it to 4.1 lem, light hammer spring, short reset kit from gray guns, and even got the slide milled from wright armory for a red dot. 45c mag release, tlr7a light feels like it was made for it, slim slide releases, flush mag for ccw with a 17 round p30 mag with x spacer grip for backup / home defense. I really think it is the perfect do it all gun. always liked the p30's, but felt no need to trade in the p2k for one. especially after all the upgrades.

I carry a P2000, for similar reasons to what you describe here. I used to carry a p365 because I liked how small and concealable it was, and its size wasn't really an issue for me to grip because I have small hands. I liked the 365, but after about 400 rounds some of the roll pins had moved and I had to recenter them, and it looked as worn my VP9 that, at the time, had probably closer to 2500 rounds. Not to say that I'd call my VP9 "worn" but it seemed like an inappropriate amount of wear for 400 rounds.

I call it my 11 round revolver. Never liked any semi auto till I got my hands on one of these. Hammer fired with a striker fire pull. But second strike capable. You can put your thumb over the hammer when holstering, the trigger is much safer and has a well defined wall. Slide release is the most accessible I know of and the mag release anyone can reach. No fumbling for it. I use my trigger finger so you don't even move the pistol from the firing position. I have a p30L with factory night sights, I like the luminescent better. The moon light makes them glow.

I've never saw much light in putting your thumb over the hammer while holstering, as if that's the only thing that is paid attention to while holstering.
The way I see it, when holstering, visual checking of the inside of the holster, the surrounding clothing, and leaning backwards should always take place no matter what kind of pistol one uses.

i’m a very big fan when it comes to subcompact firearms with my top two favorite subcompact firearms being the Glock 26 specifically the combat master TTI company modifications to it to make it the John Wick, two subcompact gun, and then the subcompact HKP 30 SK with the compensator attached to it to decrease the recoil a bit to make it basically the small replica version of the John Wick, one pistol. both of those firearms, especially since they are subcompact. They are very reliable. and I think that the HKP 30 SK is possibly one of the most reliable handguns. You can get your hands on. now if I were to go with my personal top three in order, it would be the combat master Glock 26 then the HKP 30 SK and then I would choose a staccato CS, which is the subcompact version of a staccato 2011 handgun.

I bought a used A3, not LEM, but the trigger is well broken in and quite good. I have a VP9 that has a better trigger and i love to shoot it. But for pure carry, I've grown to prefer DA/SA over striker and i started with striker fired guns. The P30SK is a goid size for concealment and the human ebgineering of the grip on the P30 and VP9 are outstanding. I also shoot the P30Sk similarly to a bigger gun. Its that well done. Also the DA first pull does afford you an extra layer of safety IMO. With the focus on lighter crisper first pull on carry guns DA affords you an extra safety buffer and makes accidental discharges a bit less likely. Ultimately the best safety is between your ears, but i like DA. Especially Hk's, which is quite smooth and not too heavy at 8 lbs give or take. The difference betwee DA and SA isn't as stark as the Beretta 92's with a really heavy (yet smooth) and a really light hair SA. It actually took me a while to learn it. But I digress, I feel the designers of the P30 really took time to think about what a user really needs in a carry gun when they designed it. It is excellent for that purpose IMO, it is comfortable to carry and it shoots like a bigger gun. I shot my friend's P365 and he agrees the P30 is a tack driver.

FWIW, I had the Compact Carry (sold it), and replaced it with the DA/SA P30SK from LTT. The Beretta is a phenomenal (if ungainly-looking) pistol. But, it is noticeably bigger and heavier than the HK, though it also holds 15 rounds flush (the P30SK now holds 12 flush). The Beretta was just more gun than I personally wanted to carry, but what an awesome firearm. I shot really well with it, hated to part with it, but I just didn’t need another safe queen or nightstand gun. Beretta had a harder DA pull than the HK, but that’s not a fair comparison as Langdon worked on the HK trigger and lightened the hammer spring, while my Beretta was the stock Compact Carry.

One thing I've noticed about the P30 is it doesn't get near as dirty, inside, as most other firearms. Even after a couple hundred rounds. Anyone else notice this?

The P30SK is my EDC in the LEM variant, Grey Guns flat trigger and short reset kit.....the short reset is sick! My back-up magazine is a 17rd w/+3 floor and spacer. The LEM is the safest for appendix carry. Personally I jack a round in the chamber then ease the hammer down so my first round is a long heavier traditional DA/SA first shot feel. Try using a small black light for energize the sights, works was faster than a white light flashlight. Once you own and shoot an HK the rest just seem ....Meh. Just about 2000 rounds thru mine without one malfunction.

How would this compare to a p365x or p365xl if anybody has both guns? I really like the HK because of the DA/SA action but size wise I am thinking of the p365x due to the after market support in my country and HK being a difficult company to get hold of

    • @sdog74
      @sdog74 Před rokem +4

Compared to a 365 or 365xl, the p30sk feels chunky and heavy. However, it is easier to conceal than you might think because of its small profile (despite its thickness, being a double-stack). It's comparable in size to the Glock 26 or CZ 2075 RAMI. It also performs like a bigger pistol.
There's a large hole in the market for a p365-sized SA/DA carry piece in 9mm. The closest that I've found are the double-stack CZ 83 and the single-stack Walther PPK/S--both of which are in .380 (9x17), not 9x19. The Beretta 80 "Cheetah" series is another option in .380, with both single-stack and double-stack options. They just came out with a brand-new model.
Until somebody makes a 365-sized SA/DA pistol, we're stuck with either striker-fired, or .380s, or chunkier ones like the p30sk. It may well be your best option if you want a SA/DA.

I have a 365, a 365xl, and the P30SK from Langdon with a DA/SA trigger. I carry them all. The HK is noticeably bigger and heavier but still carries well. I like that I don’t need a safety. All are excellent firearms - it’s really whether you can tolerate the extra size and weight of a hammer fired 9mm to get the benefits of a DA/SA gun. If size and weight are more important, the Sigs are great.

First thing I got as soon as I was of age was USP 45. It wasn’t intended for ccw but it made me an HK fanboy. My carry rotation is primarily a P30 SK and a P2000 both in V3 variant. I very intentionally wanted both to be V3 da/sa configuration because I personally never carry striker fired anything. It’s a personal preference, but if I did I’d certainly add a VP9 SK to the rotation. People sleep on the concept of carrying da/sa and even criticize it. I’ve treated several patients who have accidentally shot themselves with their Glocks while carrying (and some while cleaning). I just prefer HK in general and da/sa for carry. Me and my father both purchased our P30 SKs at the same time and both agree with your statements.

Very nice video on the gun, it does seem like a good carry gun except for two things, one its 9mm and not .45 acp and two the hammer, as a died-in-the-wool 1911 type, both things would drive me nuts..

The finish on my relatively new p2000sk (vedder holster) is garbage, I’ve carried two stainless guns prior and a p365 and never had this issue. Otherwise I love it and will likely get it refinished when I go to a new carry gun.

I agree with the thickness. I was on the verge of buying this pistol then ended up picking up the Springfield Armory XDS-9 Mod 2 due to the XDS being significantly slimmer. The P30sk is even thicker than the Glock 26 which has the nickname “fat boy”.

@dv8322 I wanted to carry it inside my pocket like my LCP and S&W 642, but it was just too big. I really wanted to like it and keep it, it's a great pistol was very accurate and extremely well made. If it was slimmer and shed some ounces it would be excellent. HK seems to focus more on LE and Military.

As I understand it, the LEM trigger decocks the gun when you release the trigger all the way out. If you keep pressure on the trigger after you fire it, then it's in SA after the reset. But if you let your trigger finger completely off of it, then you're back in DA.
Disclaimer: I've only seen this explained in videos and have never used an LEM trigger myself.

    • @scooter5940
