Regarding the "fake terrorist attack" if you were wondering why there was no punishment, the whole thing was part of a protest/public gathering that was formally announced to the city and was approved, they stated that part of the protest would be a "theatrical performance" and informed the city that airsoft guns and sound effects would be used during it which was also approved and the police apparently inspected the airsoft guns prior to the actual protest. Even tho I doubt the city would approve this if they weren't so vague about the "theatrical performance" they were going to preform.

I have been told by a local that tourists should be extra careful with their belongings when watching the Astronomical Clock on the hour, as pickpockets like to place themselves among the crowds of people who are looking up at the clock. When a chemical detector procs, it is set to alarms (emergency services and army). Usually, army is ordered to supervise the decontamination in the metro. Firefighters do have the equipment, but they have limited resources for that (some IR or FTIR detectors, decontamination mixes, etc. but they lack equipment for specific gases).

    • @matejbosela9093

@@karelstanzel9510 Menší dekontaminaci jo - úniky kapalin a pevných látek, únik zemního plynu do tunelů. Detektor v metru měří plyny, takže následuje evakuace prostor a většinou dekontaminace aerosolem (pro představu mechanismus sprejů) - pro chlor a těkavé kyseliny stačí voda, na jiné plyny dle rozhodnutí velitele zásahu. U těchto zásahů jde spíš ve výsledku o spolupráci hasiči (první kontakt) - armáda (velký průšvih) - policisté (pomoc u evakuace osob).
Proč má armáda velitelskou nadřazenost u tohohle typu útoku - př: Tokio 1995. Došlo k útoku sarínem, sekta Óm Širjiknó (nebo něco takového) do prostor Tokijskeho metra vypustila cca 600ml této látky. Chemická jednotka HZS nebyla připravena, neměla dostatečnou výbavu. Výsledek - kvůli zpožděnému zapojení armády 12 mrtvých a cca 3500 zraněných.

I'm surprised about the complaints about trash in the subway. In traveling around Europe, regardless of the country, it is difficult to find trash cans anywhere. Why? First of all, Europe is not a fast food and disposable society. You don't go into a McDonalds and walk out eating a sandwich and throwing your garbage on the street. Secondly, Europeans have more civic pride than Americans. Trashing your city just isn't done. Now I know that there are exceptions, but largely, I'll stand by my comment.

I am a Spanish living in Central Europe and things differ a lot between countries. Here in Austria it’s a similar case: it’s really difficult to find where to drop your trash and people complain if you use their bins on the street, even for recycling a newspaper. Most of them are actually locked in some kind of shed. That’s really shocking for us Spaniards because this is not true in the case of Spain, however. There are public trash bins everywhere and you are also allowed to use any big trash or recycling container belonging to blocks of buildings if it’s on the street. Even the smallest of towns has public bins, something that cannot be said of Austria.

    • @siriusczech

No, their simple idea is that by placing a bomb into a normal one and setting it off from a distance (so you as an attacker won´t get killed in the process) means tons of flying shrapnels around (including pieces of the trashcan itself) kills many people and creates a chaos, while with those heavy babies this won´t happen, because they can contain quite a strong explosion.
Yes, there is still a possibility of a gas bomb that will suffocate lots of people or other nasty suprises, but those are a lot harder to make home - unlike any cheap explosive package with nails around for maximum effect, so favourite in use in Middle East.

    • @nicfab1
      @nicfab1 Před rokem +3

Has something to do with the intention. If a failure has a lighter punishment than success, then someone who fails has the chance to decide "I don't want to do this anymore, I can still escape the harsher sentence". If it's punished the same, that opportunity/fear isn't there, instead it becomes "my sentence can't get higher anymore, might as well try to finish it and get rid of the witnesses"

Thanks for letting me know that Prague is in Czechoslovakia, only thing I really remember about your country from history class is that the Brits and the French sold you out to the Nazis to keep peace in their time. I think it was called the sudetenland that was given to Germany? Damn your city looks really nice. Thank you and thumbs up.

Road blocks might actually make sense - they are placed where there is highest risk, i.e. where a car can actually achieve some serious speed and "appear" without warning. Other entrances wouldn't really allow for that, would they? (Genuine question, I'm not from Prague, only visited few times, so I might be wrong ;))
And regarding trashcans - I wonder if they took into consideration the fact, that by using these, they are essentially shaping explosion so that most energy goes upwards, right towards the ceiling. Well, I guess/hope they did indeed ;)

    Just visited Praha, Sep 2023.
Loved the city. Enjoyed our stay very much. Not a very friendly city, but happier than the German folk. But....why should they be happy with the oh so many tourists.
I got all my scam tips and warnings from you.....thank you so much.
Discovered a small underground restaurant called Tlusta Mys.....The Fat Mouse. We loved it!!!!
    We never felt unsafe ever....

I always though the worst attack on Prague was by Swedish army in 1648, when Prague has fallen and many artworks were stolen. Well, actually the german occupation of 1939-1945 was worse.

about security, what is the reason the beautiful guards in blue uniforms at prague castle were replaced by armed soldiers, and mostly, controls were introduced at the entrance? its just hell on crowdy days... i think it started in 2020 witht the check point at the entrance opposite the tram station...

My dad was an undercover green beret during the Prague spring. They would be taken away from their base in germany and sent into the woods to cross into czechoslovakia. About 3-4 of them would stay for a period of 30 days and have to complete whatever tasks they were given spending their time in regular clothes with no backup and if caught they were going to be abondoned and say they deserted. The messed up part is they would help the local militias and help sabotage the russians but they would also blow certain things up or cause problems and blame the russians so then they can say look what those dirty russians did. One story I remember is they blew up a train or train tracks and as they were running he looked back and one of the guys he was with was throwing out russian propaganda posters to make it look like the russians were doing it and cause further tension and unrest. My dad went on 4 or 5 of these 30 day missions. It was this or Vietnam for my father, god rest his soul.

Do another one about unsolved murders in Prague and Czechia started from the 60's up to now!
If I remember well in the late 70's or early 80's there was one student in Prague that went home for Christmas, and She was found on the train with her throat sliced.
    Was the murderer found?

Hey Honza, really liked the video, but found the thumbnail quite out of touch considering the War in Ukraine, where people really find bombs like the one in the street on a daily basis. We are lucky to live in peace right now in Prague and I think it’s a bit tactless to use such imagery in the thumbnail, especially considering the amount of Ukrainians that Prague has welcomed.
