Alex, your sense of humor is unique, spontaneous and cleverly organized. I like the way you weave your past, present and future Alex together in your narration. It makes Curiosity Inc. educational, informational and spot-on entertaining! Keep up your exploration!
I found a personal record made back during WWII that men could send back to their family in a thrift store years ago. I doubt it has any value but for me it's a piece of history. I was also surprised at how thick the record is.
I love the rockabilly haircut! Great video. I'm glad you made it home safe from New York City. I love the whole story about the movie theater. That's absolutely great you got Melissa good! Payback is a you know what LOL
This used to be a great Sally Ann. All the fiction books used to be in rough alphabetical order so we could always find our favourite writers. Now they don't do that, so we don't bother any more. They also used to always have binoculars and cameras , but for some reason, not any more. We haven't bought anything there for quite a while and may not take the diversion to go there any more.
Hello Alex! Loved your Victoria thrifting! Head up to Courtney/Comox and Campbell River if you want great thrift stores! 😊 I am from PEI but was visiting my son and family in Comox! I love thrifting and found some great stuff! For example: Pyrex wheat pattern complete Cinderella bowl set for $45. Also I was in the pink when I found two pink Pyrex mixing bowls at the Value Village in Courtenay! Bonus! The area is gorgeous! Good luck!
At 1:54 there's a couple of Pyrex covered casseroles in the "Homestead" Pattern, locked up in the glass case lol. Not the most popular pattern but they have the matching lids and one looks to be a fairly large size. Can't make out the price tag but they would go from about $50 to as much as $200 for the pair depending on the size. The 4 quart ones go for a lot!
Antique alley in Texas USA! It's a highway that runs through the state of Texas during the year. If you miss it, totally missing out. Historic items, movie props, pop culture, EVERYTHING!
When you browse patterns, don’t forget to check for original 70’s Jessica McClintock Gunne Sax patterns. Those go for crazy prices, especially if they’re complete.
Whoa!!! blast from the past!!! my first stereo setup was AKAI!! then we graduated to a Pioneer system, now in storage.... You might have gotten tired from the Dad jokes?? 🤣😂👏🏻
I miss thrifting on the island. Duncan has the best thrift stores!!!!! Sassy Lions and the Mission Store as well as Salvation Army. I’m in Sask now and not a lot in my area.
I would have grabed the Eddy Arnold LP myself.... But then I'm a big fan of classic country music... Also that Thrift Foods pin might have been from the Thrifty's Drug store chain which was big in the U.S. up untill the 80's...
i hate to break it to you but you cant really see the island from the mainland its about 30km across and the piece of land that you do see is its own little island called Galiano Island... it runs the length of Vancouver
I’m from the island, and I find the Salvation Army very high priced. If you can find transition society, or hospital thrift stores the prices are better and you often find better items.
I was just about to add the same comment. Who knew that the "rockney" sound had ever reached Canada? And Alex just ignored it. Oh Alex, there just ain't no pleasing you
HI Alex thanks for showing the Salvos store on the Island. I sell sewing patterns as a business from all earas many of the patterns ou showed were from 70s to fairly modern modern patterns I swoop on them when I see them in such good condition. Shame I am on the other side of the world.
Chemainus and Ladysmith are suppose to have good thrift stores. My mom visited them when she was on the Island and she volunteers at a good one in Selkirk, Manitoba with very cheap prices.
Alex my love. I love going to second hand stores, Goodwill,Salvation Army, Antique shops. Especially now that prices are so high. Never know what you are going to find. Good to see ya again. Wish I could be there with you. Love ya. Please, take care and stay safe. 🍺❤️🌹🇺🇸🌞😇👍🙏🕊🌈
Hey, Alex. Welcome to the Island. I have a bag full of collectable coins, if you’re interested. And a house full of vintage stuff, if you pass back through the southern part of the province.
Please disregard a comment I put on one of the other Victoria videos about wishing for some exterior and landscape shots. I see there is some of that on this one. 👍💚
@ 1:35 what are those covered casserole dishes? I would have bought those to keep for myself. I've broken all but one bowl of my set of covered Pyrex. So many times I wish I had the lid but, oh, well, I guess.
Would you tell me where you stayed and if you’d recommend it? I know, weird, but I’m planning a trip from LA to Vancouver, maybe Vancouver Island, next month, for me and maybe a friend and I’m totally flummoxed. 🤷♀️ I think my focus will be a tad of nature but a lot of art, design, dunno. And dunno if you can advise but at a minimum, where did you hang your boots on the island? Thank you!

Good Saturday morning! I was just about to go thrifting myself, but now I'll watch you thrift before I go!😂
Nice too see you on the island! Next time do a meet a greet. Would like too meet you in real life sometime 😊

I always like piano background music 🎶, its very relaxing.

Where is a good place to look up Pyrex dishes?
4:45 I love that hummingbird feeder. 9:07 my son likes to look through the vinyls & every once in awhile he can find a good record
Fun to shop. You picked an enjoyable racquet.
Antique alley in Texas USA! It's a highway that runs through the state of Texas during the year. If you miss it, totally missing out. Historic items, movie props, pop culture, EVERYTHING!
Aw glad you're visiting our fair city! Welcome!
I found your channel when I was living in Leduc, I have since moved back to Vancouver Island. I hope you are enjoying it here! ❤
Always cool to see what other thrift stores have!!
Thanks for sharing ❤
You should try consignments near oak bay. Great collectable stuff.
When you browse patterns, don’t forget to check for original 70’s Jessica McClintock Gunne Sax patterns. Those go for crazy prices, especially if they’re complete.
Welcome to the Island!!! The wonderful left coast.!!!
First Monday at Canton {TX) is a neat place to visit.
A slooow Saturday spend watching Alex in the thrift shoppe....!
When the only thing in the store more valuable than the Kitch are the Stainless steel shelves...!
Hi Alex😊 nice to see you.❤
So cool to see you were so close to where we live. Hope you enjoyed your visit. If possible, next visit do a meet and greet. 👍⭐️
best thrift store I was in on the island is the one in Ladysmith! Great prices too! Since I have moved back to Sask, I haven't found one as good!
Just like back in prehistory Alexander, gotta keep hunting. No mastodon brought home occasionally, tribe sleeps hungry. 😮 Better luck next time. 🦣😂
1:45 footed bowls like that are called "compotes". Older catalogs (pre-1920) may also call them "comports".
Yes, compotes. Those are from Indiana Glass Co. in the 70's and 80's.
I luv carnival glass, pyrex, old glassware
Oh wow! That old PHILCO Radio looked like the one the Walton family owned.
Awesome again 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Whoa!!! blast from the past!!! my first stereo setup was AKAI!! then we graduated to a Pioneer system, now in storage.... You might have gotten tired from the Dad jokes?? 🤣😂👏🏻
A Genuine German Masskrug will usually have a Tin Lid on it...!
I love going through these stores. Always fun shopping with you.
They sell those hummingbird feeders at Home Depot
I buy patterns for Ebay all of the time. I get them at 3/$1 . Even newer ones bring $5 each.
I miss thrifting on the island. Duncan has the best thrift stores!!!!! Sassy Lions and the Mission Store as well as Salvation Army. I’m in Sask now and not a lot in my area.
Fun trip to the island!
Did anyone recognize you? I certainly would have! I hope you enjoyed your Island thrifting adventures. 🎉
I would have grabed the Eddy Arnold LP myself.... But then I'm a big fan of classic country music... Also that Thrift Foods pin might have been from the Thrifty's Drug store chain which was big in the U.S. up untill the 80's...
I see you got to experience our liquid sunshine.
The terracotta army in China looks amazing. Apparently every soldier is different, no 2 are the same
Good luck finding anything around here…..usually seniors day is jam packed…
When l visited Vancouver, l stayed literally right across from the island. This was back in 2014.
I never said l could see the island.
i hate to break it to you but you cant really see the island from the mainland its about 30km across and the piece of land that you do see is its own little island called Galiano Island... it runs the length of Vancouver
I live in Victoria. I find thrifting here on the island challenging. Prices are a bit high. I thrift more when I go back east.
I’m from the island, and I find the Salvation Army very high priced. If you can find transition society, or hospital thrift stores the prices are better and you often find better items.
Hugs from Esquimalt. If we did meet up, then we would have seen each other from the East coast to the west!...
How can you flick past Chas & Dave! Absolute legends! Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit, rabbit...
I was just about to add the same comment. Who knew that the "rockney" sound had ever reached Canada?
And Alex just ignored it. Oh Alex, there just ain't no pleasing you
Probably never heard of them.
@effess8698 well it clearly did, and apparently they didn't like it 😄

How could you pass up Burl Ives?
Chemainus and Ladysmith are suppose to have good thrift stores. My mom visited them when she was on the Island and she volunteers at a good one in
Selkirk, Manitoba with very cheap prices.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Abigail, Jason and Stephen don't want you making any clothing for them to wear. 😍
LOL 😆.
Under the guitar - the depression glass is carnival glass
Modern carnival glass from the 70's and 80's.
Nice. I know those two stores well. Craigflower and the Old Island Highway. The Sally Ann usually has a few good bits of electronics.
That's one of my local favourites!! Wish you'd visited us at Thrift/Craft!
And he passed the creamer that was worth something. Alex! Haha
Yeah you have to go up island. The thrift scene is strong in victoria so unless you go day of when new stuff comes out ots gonna be picked through
Hey, Alex. Welcome to the Island. I have a bag full of collectable coins, if you’re interested. And a house full of vintage stuff, if you pass back through the southern part of the province.
I was yelling at my screen to check that robot 😂😂😂
Cool store!! Hey Barry Manilow 😀
11:44 there was a little Nemadji pottery vase there.
Thanks! I'm now inspired to go thrifting :)
Alexander,
I wonder what a Furby would be like today with AI...Scary!!!!!!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
You need to go to the Good Things Consignment down Oak Bay.
In the first store I think you were in the Salivation Army in View Royal. Used to live in Victoria.
The pattern for a reversible tie was interesting…
THAT was an ascot Dahling.
I would watch a video of you using an old pattern to sew a dress for your wife or daughter.
Please disregard a comment I put on one of the other Victoria videos about wishing for some exterior and landscape shots. I see there is some of that on this one. 👍💚
LOL Nana Mouskouri came up QUICK!
Alex, that's a normal size beerglas in Bavaria. Even for 15,16 year Teenagers 😅
Too bad you didn't go to the St. Vincent de Paul just across the street. I like that one the best.
Alex u accidentally called carnival glass depression glass
Hi Alex! Miss seeing Melissa and your 3 wonderful children. What have you done with them? Lol
We had school :)
Can't believe you skipped by Chas & Dave in the vinyl lol.
Looked right past the game boy! Easy $120
"I coulda had a Batbot!"
Always the village people albums
Do you ever come across HERO crochet hooks? They are no longer being manufactured as well sought after.
That is the problem with Salvation Army, Goodwill and other chain "thrift" stores, they are asking internet retail prices and more!
...as well they should!
What part of "Thrift" do you not understand?! Those items were donated, notpurchased!@@GuyWithTheDogs
@@danielulz1640 Irrelevant.
Just like your comments!@@GuyWithTheDogs
Hey A;ex , good to see you , I watch another CZcamsr who is based on Vancouver Island , he lives in his van
0:48 Sasquatch sign on the right.
6:03 they're all stationary aisles. have you ever seen one move?
Hey Alex remember your Gabriola Island cottage invite on us!
Carnival glass.
🥰🥰
You were right by me! You should have gone across the street just past the starbucks there is a better thrift store there.
Goodwill stores are crap now because they have an internet auction site that sells the best stuff.
You corked your shopping!
Can you deduct the expenses for the car refurbs that you resell in Canada?
@ 1:35 what are those covered casserole dishes? I would have bought those to keep for myself. I've broken all but one bowl of my set of covered Pyrex. So many times I wish I had the lid but, oh, well, I guess.
❤❤❤❤❤
7:55 I was shocked to see a René Simard and Renée Martel record in a thrift shop in BC I don't even know if people there would know who they are.
I remember Rene Simard!
Would you tell me where you stayed and if you’d recommend it? We have family on the island but there are a lot of amazing places to visit ❤
❤🌹❤️
