Half the point of Glock is the grip angle. I hated it when I first bought one coming from Sig FN and the like, but I've found that I'm way better with that angle than any other. Every time I draw I'm on target, instantly and naturally. I love the angle.
I'm not sure I understand the hate on the grip angle either. The idea is it forces your wrist to point more downward to put it more inline with the bones in your arm. More straighter means more soaking up of recoil and less chance of limp-wristing your way into a malfunction. Comfort ain't really a factor in the design.
Not sure why people want the grip angle to change when theres a very large group of people it clearly works for. There are many, many options that are just as good if not better than a glock with differing grip angles.
Gaston knew what he was doing when he built the G17. A newbie will always hate the grip angle of a Glock, most likely disgusted by it but having some ulnar deviation makes you have a stronger grip.
The Shadow Systems love is wild. The mr920 is literally lighter than a stock Glock, less reliable, and none of the upgrades are actually executed in best form.
They're okay. The features are well executed imo. Mine have been reliable in terms of mean rounds between stoppages aside from a higher rate of parts failures. I have like 18.5k rounds on a DR920. Factory mag catch wore out and stopped retaining magazines at 9.5k, and then locking block pins sheared in two at 11.5k and 14.5k rounds. Really bizarre failures. As far as reliability in terms of stoppage rate it's been comparable or better than my experience with Glonk brand Glonks.
My PD banned them after over a 50% catastrophic failure rate over a dozen guns over 2 years. I followed up with them and they said they had never heard of the issues. Loca PDs to me confirmed they had the same issues, and SS told them “they had never heard of the issues” too. Then they blocked me on IG after they made a post about being approved all over the country, and I said they were banned at my PD. They said “we aren’t aware of being banned at any PDs”. They then attempted to dox me and post my PD name and where I’m from, after googling my name. Then blocked me.
Finally someone who actually shoots their damn guns coming in with some data. It's a shame though because on paper they are a better pistol, us company and all, it would be nice if they didn't suck.
@@jamesthrun3211 I believe it. They seem to have a couple problem areas that will fail at a high rate when actually shoot several thousand rounds through them (which tbf 99% of buyers don't do). The magazine release seems to fail pretty frequently and round/bevel off enough that it doesn't retain magazines. I suspect this is due to specifying the polymer for the Magpul mags that the guns ship with rather than OEM Glock mags. They also seem to have a quality control issue with locking block and trigger hinge pins. Reports of walking pins are quite common, and I've had two locking block pins shear in half. In both cases, upon examination, I saw that the little ledges that should be present on the pins where they retain on the slide lock spring had beveled down/rounded off. I think they have a metallurgy/heat treat quality control issue with those pins. It's worth emphasizing that, outside of the three incidents where I had parts actually fail on me, the guns have been perfectly reliable. They just don't seem to hold up to high round counts as well, which Is unfortunate, because the optic mounting system, serrations, and frame features are awesome. I think simply replacing the pins and mag release with OEM Glock would resolve a lot of the issues the pistols tend to have.
@@jackwicker trigger were a major failure point. Parts breakage and just weird like failure to reset stuff. Sometimes you could take it apart and put it back together and it’s good. Other times they had to be sent in. All times they were sent in, it was a “new problem they hadn’t seen” so I don’t expect them to change. I expect them to keep being surprised by it happening at an extremely high rate 😂
You know, I think you may be right…I wondered when they would bring their new rotating barrel to the rest of the lineup and that sounds like a great reason.
On the subject of Glock sights. I get why the OEM sights are a source of contention and it used to be for me as well. However, after shooting for several decades now I've settled into particular sights I like, and I try and keep consistent on all of my guns. So, at the end of the day, unless Glock is only going to offer the XS Big Dot sights that I like, I'm going to change them out anyway. In which case I feel much better about throwing those cheap plastic sights back into the case than I do tossing some expensive sights I never wanted.
That's how I feel about it. I'd rather have some chintzy sights that didn't add to the cost and are easy to replace than some expensive sights that aren't really what I want.
Why would Glock invest money into upgrading the gun when they know the secondary market is there for it already? Unless their sales start seriously sliding, I don't see them doing much
Glock partnered with Davidson’s and Gunsite to make a duty G45. I have one and love it so far. Suppressor height sights, optic cut specifically for the 509T Holosun (optic comes mounted as well), FBI mag release, and flared magwell. All done at Glock.
Yeah so some of those ideas are good but I think gen 6 will come out soon and there might be some flashy marketing about a new grip texture or a new optics mount but the MAIN thing Glock will be changing is they will somehow change the striker design to prevent the addition of a 3d printed auto seer. Glock is a European company at heart and they're already being sued by the State of Illinois because they're easy to convert to a machine pistol. It wouldn't surprise me if whatever they do to prevent full auto makes the trigger "even worse" (I put that in quotes cuz I really don't mind Glock triggers).
Get the sig chassis system away from my beautiful Glocks. Those cause so many issues with reliability, lungevity, rusting etc. the only thing Glock should do is make the plates better, better iron sights, offer different stippling. Flocks are unironically almost perfect, just leave them be.
Standard rails, better stipple on the grips, standardize an optics cut better than the mos system, a more aggressive front and back slide serrations, and better sights. They can also have a pro or comp series like how m&p does.
I’d update the G34 as a 5” slide and typical comp stuff (their performance trigger((or one that actually works)), their OEM magwell, fibre optic sights, extended mag release etc) which both makes it IPSC legal and competitive out of the box. The magwell just clips on so if Standard Optics finally gets ratified you just put it on and your ready to go. And yes the MOS plates need attention too.
Biggest thing for Gen 6 is increasing the capacity of the 43, 43x, and 48. Then, more aggressive stippling. I work at a gun range/store and 90% of guns with grip tape are Glocks. Also, AR-15.
I recently got a Matrix Arms MX19. Gen 3 G19 clone with Aluminum frame and hand stippled grips. 1911 grip angle with a Timiney trigger. Trijicon sights, direct milled Rmr cut on a heavily serrated slide. I absolutely love it. Any complaint people have on Glocks this has it fixed, for real. But I love plain Glocks. They are super easy to shoot.
They need to revamp the MOS system. Slide cuts for specific optics would be nice. Shouldn’t have to spend $550 on a Glock then send it off to a 3rd party for a cut
I feel that Glock does not have to do very much with the sixth generation, i shoot a Glock 19 mos pretty well with the standard trigger and know a lot of people who do, it comes down to training, Even with companies like Walter, Smith and Wesson, and even Stacatto offering better triggers, grip textures and sights, people still end up changing all those things, I bet even if Glock included all theses thing people would still change em up
@@coolgr3y997 That would be different. I think there are enough cavities in the current design to place tungsten or tungsten infused polymer into that would add quite a bit of weight.
This is off topic but have you done a video on your thoughs with steel challenge? I mean like do you feel its good practice or campy? How do the rankings compare with shooting prifociency to you? Etc.
Honestly for a gen 6 glock i'd really just like to see a factory raised/rearward extended slide release (like the Kagwerks, so its out of the way for a high support hand position but can still be reached via thumb without compromising grip) plus a slightly wider or different shape mag realease for the same reason, and even more ideally, high texture on the sides and back of the frame, and perhaps some slightly angled texture in a few spots based on what the gun wants to do during strings of fire with sweaty hands? I feel like with how modern and efficient production can be, that shouldn't change the price much. Holster and mag compatibility with gen 5's would be perfect. Keep the same overall profile of the gun and the same mags. Just with ergonomics/grip texture that are polished up so you don't have to change any controls or feel the need to stipple it. Basically a gen 5 that you only decide on your preference for triggers and sights, and whether or not you want slide cuts and a different recoil spring, and roll out with that.

I’m just shooting from the hip here but do you think one reason (other than what seems to be Glocks aversion to change) is that there are so many patented modifications for Glocks that it has made it difficult for Glock to make their own changes?
I have heard how awful the MOS system is since day one and though I use an after market plate, my SRO hasn't budged screws haven't budged nothing since I installed the red dot. Maybe just luck and know it's not the best setup but it's been solid for me.
The specs of the OEM plate and screws are the "only" things off with it. Get an aftermarket plate and the issues disappear. Then again, I understand people who grief over it - it shouldnt be wrong in the first place when you're a manufacturer of that scale and notoriety.
glock needs to do raced out versions like shadow systems. everyone has comped race guns except glock. but a trigger module im betting wont happen since that will be a huge redesign. also a factory pcc would be interesting.
I don't think the removable or modular fire control group is the way to go yet. I haven't seen anyone do it without issues that have hurt their brand. Better irons. Better trigger. Better mag release. Maybe upgrade the MOS systems. Not asking that much, and it wouldn't mess with internals.
How about a normal grip angle? Pretty much the only thing I hate about them. Can deal with the goofy trigger and stock sight / mounting platform (easy enough to mill my optic or replace sights). But I find it a bit hard to go from Glock to any-other-gun due to that grip angle being so deviant from the typical gun (the sig p320 by contrast is a bit to shallow than the typical gun). They could also bend to those who want manual safeties like m&p and p320/365 give you the optio of if you want.
I don’t understand why everyone wants to fuck with something that works leave the damn things alone if you start messing with shit you run the risk of making it unreliable there is not a handgun out there that I trust more than Glock ok do something with the mos setup maybe if you change the grip angle then you have to change the mags leave the damn things alone
What is the issue people have with the stock sights, besides being made of plastic? I have 3 and never noticed an issue, though I shoot with optics exclusively now.
I personally always have issues with judging vertical alignment. If I align so that the tops of the sights are even, the front dot is partially obscured. If I align so that the front dot drops perfectly in the rear U, I hit high. I much prefer three-dot night or hi-vis front, black rear.
want market share? glock drops the 1911 grip angle. other then that.. REAL metal sights and a texture on par with M&P 2.0 id be fully on board with the lighter//
Glock reminds me of Nintendo, loved but has a complete refusal to give customers what they want, even when it would make them a fortune and increase their popularity and overall ownership within the market. I would say for the Gen 6. Its a complete mystery why they would not go to a chassis system, if they did that, fixed the optic situation to be standardized and better and improved the trigger, anything anyone would ever diss the Glock for would be gone. Like the PDP and many cheaper systems already have better triggers better sights and optics cuts and are cheaper with similar reliability. They are losing the game here. I have no idea why the P320 is even liked at all other than its chassis system, Glock could completely blow them out of the water due to its aftermarket support if they had a reliable working chassis system. That plus the improved optics cut and better trigger it would be a no brainer for everyone to own a glock, even the glock haters. But nothing will change much no doubt.
The thing is crazy because the conversion to me is pointless in aspect to a stock Glock… stock 34 gen3 nice stock gen3 17 horrible your finger gets tired from trigger slop so fast it’s only a functional shooter not an easy gun to use especially with stock iron sights lol I had to spend 2000 near 3000 on my gen 3 34 lol 😂 just for it to be what a Glock should be lol
I think I am the only person in the world who likes stock Glock sights, especially since they finally got the dot and U sizes matched up properly. I understand that the durability may be an issue for some-specifically those who like to use the rear sight as a charging handle. As for the front sight, it can wear down during many draws against the holster. But a modern holster with a tall sight channel would pretty much negate that problem. The sight picture itself works great for me, and is fine for hitting someone in the chest at 20 feet. I’ve seen some pretty old Glocks with original sights, so the typical owner isn’t breaking them off, either. My new Gen 5 Glock 22 shot a tiny bit to the right when I first got it, and I realized that the rear sight was slightly off center. But that was easily remedied. Of course, if an optic is going to be fitted, something taller needs to go on anyway, so that is just a non-optic gun problem. As for the MOS, I am running a 509t on mine. I think that a sight such as that doesn’t have a lot of the typical MOS problems. First of all, you are going to be using an aftermarket plate made from better material. Secondly, the plate screws down nice and snug into the slide and then the optic mounts to that by means of a crossbar-type setup, so you’re not likely to shear off any screws. There is no worry about how much thread engagement on the optic’s screws.
Integrated beavertail, steel sights, direct mount for rmr footprint, slightly nicer trigger, more rounded grip with a slightly reduced circumference and aggressive grip texture.
I was on the Glock platform since ‘99, switched out to nothing but Shadow Systems two years ago, with zero regrets. I just treated Shadow Systems as the Gen6 upgrade.😎✌️
I've got like 18.5k rounds on my DR920 and a few thousand rounds through other models. They're okay. Reliability in terms of stoppage rate has been comparable to Glock, parts failure rate has been somewhat higher, mechanical accuracy has been oddly a fair bit worse. Imo it shoots a little bit nicer than Glocks do, and the feature improvements are welcome and well executed for the most part.
Glock doesn't care what you think. A huge part of their market aren't gun people, that shoot >100 rounds a year. If Glock cared, they would have released a Glock Carbine in the 2000s.
what happened, got tired of Gen 5 shooting? One week he is all in on Staccato P, next week its CZ is dope, then its XC swag, now its "comps are too easy" I am a Gen 5 guy....next week it will be "quit reading comments as trolls are dangerous", cause the reddit told me and my 100th gun is a Gen 5, next week it will be "its better than golf". '....and round and round it goes. Perhaps he will buy another truck or something and diss toyota.
Sights are literally crap made from plastic. The WHITE DOT on front side is not EVEN CENTERED. I am pissed because i have two Glocks now and the white dot in middle of the sight is left. Really same crap on my Glock 17 and Glock 44. I am not sure if i can live with the rolling sponge trigger anymore, ever. Timney Trigger seems to be the best freaking trigger out there. I have two of them now. One on my Glock 17 and one on my Glock 19. I will try will they work with my Glock 44. I get no money or nothing out of this when i say: The trigger should be like Timney Alpha trigger from the factory. Stupid sponge triggers with creep should not be tolerated anymore. Morons should have option to buy heavy sponge trigger so they could not accidentaly press them to make the gun fire.
DPP optic footprint to match Army standard. RMR fans will lose their minds. Everyone else will tell them to lighten up, did they know they make larger optics now? Grip/chassis system so you can change grip modules like SIG. They'll say "not like ergo perfection? Make own ergos." Same shitty sights. Dumb people keep them, anyone who trains is going to put their own personal sights on it. Don't waste money on something everyone is going to change. XS Sights breathes sigh of relief. Completely redesigned trigger that defeats the switch but is somehow not even as good as the current trigger. Apex will announce aftermarket trigger 28 minutes after new Glock announced. Won't ship for first unit for 9 months. Gen 7 Glock ships before you get your Gen 6 Apex trigger. They'll sell millions.
Glock doesn’t care about changes for real bc they are still in all movies and TV shows, in rap music etc. plus, a lot of their money is made in horse semen.

Glock should have a Glock competition series many time ago.....it's late ... while competitors are just running fast......
They could just buy Shadow Systems
Colors other than black?
They do
want market share?
glock drops the 1911 grip angle.
other then that..
REAL metal sights
and a texture on par with M&P 2.0
id be fully on board with the lighter//
Shadow Systems is garbage by the way. - guy who t&e’d for them when they were just shitty barrel makers.
Wasn't this same topic posted 2 days ago?
It was, here is a sticker for paying attention
boberg pistol operating system
I hope these comments spur Ben to pick up a Shadow Systems option…
Change the grip angle 😂
You should buy a Shadow Systems and test it out.
Glock knuckle needs to go away forever.
what happened, got tired of Gen 5 shooting? One week he is all in on Staccato P, next week its CZ is dope, then its XC swag, now its "comps are too easy" I am a Gen 5 guy....next week it will be "quit reading comments as trolls are dangerous", cause the reddit told me and my 100th gun is a Gen 5, next week it will be "its better than golf".
'....and round and round it goes. Perhaps he
will buy another truck or something and diss toyota.
Absolutely deranged, Nick
Glock stubbornly refuses to innovate. Its almost like a plan.
DPP optic footprint to match Army standard. RMR fans will lose their minds. Everyone else will tell them to lighten up, did they know they make larger optics now?
Grip/chassis system so you can change grip modules like SIG. They'll say "not like ergo perfection? Make own ergos."
Same shitty sights.
Try an XR920P and report back to us
Yep!😎✌️
😂
Glock doesn’t care about changes for real bc they are still in all movies and TV shows, in rap music etc. plus, a lot of their money is made in horse semen.
The next generation should be a hammer fired DA/SA Glock with safety/docker.
I think Glock should buy shadow systems!
Shadow systems are garbage
