tickytock85 hello! To be honest as a young kid living in the San Fernando Valley in the good ol’ 80’s and 90’s, I had no idea how famous he was. His daughter was my friend and still is, she is and always has been super down to earth. His sons were also very grounded, kind, religious and very respectful. Philip never acted like a “ Super Celebrity” he always showed us by example how to be respectful, enjoy various cultures and different kinds of food and most of all he talked to us about life events & made sure he addressed even the most controversial issues as mentor & life coach! He wanted his kids and the kids they hung around with to be prepared for life & thus succeed academically & professionally! Amazing man!

Growing up as teenagers in South Africa in the 70's and through the struggle years, my brother and I collected all their albums from "Head to the sky" all the way up to their CD and DVD collections. In 2010, when my brother died, his last request was that no hymns be sung at his funeral only EWF's music. His final send song off was Fantasy. Thank you for 4 decades of amazing music and memories!!!!

My dad added this song to his spotify playlist back in 2018 and I told him loved this song. He always loved Earth, Wind, and Fire. He died in 2020. I will treasure his memory forever by listening to his favorite songs. I was greatly influenced by his music. 🤍

Never heard this version before .... I'm alone in my room, and when the song appeared to finish, and Phillip was improvising - and then breaks into the famous "Do-a-weeeee-ooh-ee-ooh!" ... I got out of my chair and clapped, before the audience in the video did.
And I know this song very well - but it's a different live version where he does a Q & A with the sax player ("he plays so beautiful! Don't you agree?") ... as a teenage trumpet player, I jammed along to this song so hard, especially the Q & A, that I was sure to eventually turn professional. Which I did.

Don Myrick on alto sax was my highschool classmate and was wonderful then and is still wonderful. Englewood Class of '58 is still in mourning for him. We were so happy to see his talents were utilized with such a wonderful talented group as Earth, Wind and Fire.
