Today I head to our local French town to get delicious food from the market and to shop for Christmas in the antique shop and brocante...

It's the Vlogmas time of year again - CHRISTMAS AT THE CHATEAU has begun! Happy Advent!
Follow all of us as we get the chateau ready for a spectacular French Christmas.
Each day will be filled with decorating, cooking, gift buying, carol singing and discovering ancient Christmas traditions from around the world.
Ah! Yes, it’s pretty clear to see that Amaury gets his charm and sense of humor from both his parents! Lovely family! The market, the antiquing, the Moules-Frites-…thanks for these daily glimpses! They are a delight!
Your Aunt and Uncle appear to be lovely people, as is their son! You managed to find some lovely gifts Stephanie and Phillip! I can't wait to see everyone at the Cocktail party and more!

I had never thought of using an empty mussel shell as tweezers to eat other mussels. This vlog was worth watching for that tip alone!
Mussels with fries are a really common dish in Europe especially Belgium. Using the shell to eat the mussel is the normal way here in UK and in Europe.
Wonderful that your Aunt and Uncle could be with you for Christmas - we can see how much it meant to you to have them there.

So enjoying your advent vlogs here in Melbourne, Australia. Your Aunt and Uncle are delightful and we can see where Amaury gets his patience, charm and confidence from. You are blessed to have such a lovely family. Love the trips to the market and the brocanting. Is that a word? You have chosen the presents for your Aunt very well. Beautiful things. I wake up every morning here in Oz and the first thing I do is look to see if you Vlog is posted. Now I know it is 8.30am Oz time? Dan usually beats you but not today. I am presently in hospital recovering from a knee replacement so look forward to any and all distractions.
Get better soon. These blogs will help for sure. They are so charming.

I had a knee replacement last year, bending is important, not walking too much in first couple of weeks I say, lay and rest for first couple of weeks between exercising as with sitting I had too much swelling, ice packs of course imperative. I wish you a speedy recovery. Tracey, Surfers Paradise.

I love that Phillip found the Warmie (hot water bottle) turtle, we sell Warmie's in the little shop I work at and we had a Hedgehog one, I wanted to get it for him. I have a pink llama Warmie, it's so cozy and smells like lavender!

I love it - Mussels, "the dish that comes with it's own cutlery!" I've eaten Mussels for years, but my family didn't and NOBODY TOLD ME! I will never struggle to eat mussels again! And the tea pot for your aunt! Amazingly beautiful!

Wow we now see where Amaury gets his handsome dna. Both parents are gorgeous and very elegant. One of my fave videos cuz Stephanie is hilarious in the car like a kid riding in a convertible for their first time and the ear muffs, lovem! 😂
Another fabulous advent log! One amazing thing I learned was the tip for eating mussels. I’ve always eaten them with a small fork. This method is much more civilized.

P.S. My grandmother still washed at the lavoir in the 1940s/50s because the two World Wars and the Great Depression left very few with the means of buying machine washers. I'm not sure she ever owned one. The building is still there and the water very cold even in summer summer. But it was a good place to socialize (get gossip). My grandfather was very angry when the women started to use "modern" soap (with phosphates....) because his garden was downstream from the lavoir and he relied on it (even when it was soapy wih Marseille soap) for watering the family vegetables.
Amaury looks like his Mom and has his dads eyes! They are so sweet! So happy we got to meet them. 💕

Part of me was surprised that Stephanie did her Christmas shopping about a week before Christmas? I know a lot of people do but that makes me so anxious so I try to be done by the time we get out for school here in the states. Which is actually, usually a week before Christmas now that I think about it! Lol. But for any shipping that I have to do I try to have that done by the first week of December. This is a perfect video to watch as I am wrapping my own gifts this morning on December 19! Joy to all!

What beautiful weather you are having! Taking a top down, ride in a stylish car to the farmers market in December is nothing short of amazing. We just got.a thick blanket of snow here in Southern Ontario Canada, a brisk -5C… it’s lovely to look at (a Christmas postcard) but less pleasant to drive through. ❄️ Your aunt and uncle are delightful.
