On today's episode of Car Trek, AutoTempest challenged the guys to test their cars on a dry lake bed. The only problem is that it's 130 degrees outside and these cars weren't meant for that kind of climate when they were new. Ed's Aston Martin V12 Vanquish is barely a 4-banger at this point, Tyler's CL65 AMG breaks in a new and hilarious way, but Freddy's Maserati has been reborn in the form of a 2007 BMW M6, graciously negotiated by Ed. With friends like these, who needs enemies?

The cooking scenes certainly had an overabundance of sound effects.
Not to mention the "smart baby" that was really just a basic $5 doll with horrible baby sound effects added in post, as if it wasn't cringe enough already.
Worst part is they are all carrying smartphones with built in accelerometers that could have actually done some real measuremnts with instead of that gimmick.
Hoovie did get a nice filter tho
This whole series could of been great, but they shortcut so many things, the whole scripted commentary and sound effects just ruin it,
I liked EP1 on season 2, but I do admit that the latter half of these eps feel more subpar or completely dumb.
Season 1 to me felt fine, just less comfortable due to them being new to this.
I don't know about you guys, but id much rather see Tyler, Hoovie, and Ed just do some car reviews.
Like they do a challenge on buying the BEST sports car under 10K for example, then reviewing them, giving opinions, etc.
Then taking them through their paces, maybe a track, regular everyday usage, comfort, whatever.
Explain why they truly think its the best, also exploring the other cars and giving their opinions, etc.
I don't really care for a high-production scripted TV-Show like situation.
I literally just want to see them being themselves as they would be in their regular content, just all 3 of them together, maybe with a higher budget, giving themselves purpose with the content, such as reviewing cars.
Even then, if you want to do challenges, that's fine, but maybe less dumb ones like; "Cooking stuff on a car" or "a babydoll crying". Like you couldn't come up with anything better, really?
I feel like I'm watching this show because it has all of my favorite youtubers, but then they're not acting LIKE my favorite youtubers.
It just feels like allot of chopped up ideas, tons of editing, tons of winging it.
My interest after S1 was like a 6, starting this season it went from like a 8 to a 5 easily.

Seems like Tavarish would’ve originally had the Aston, Ed with the CL and Tyler with the M6
140k miles, that's quite an achievement for the "worst engine ever".
L.E. if you buy an old M car and you don't replace your rod bearings and studs, you deserve what's coming. Because other than that, there are no known major flaws. And if you think about how high most M engines rev, it's more of an inherent maintenance thing, just like you do your timing belt or water pump.
Only god knows the repair bills...
It’s a ticking time bomb after 100k lol
It is very costly but not actually that unreliable, it has earned the rep because people floor it before it fully warms up which then screws the rod bearings which is what these are famous for, when *properly* warmed up, the bearings last for around 70k miles
Other main issues are throttle actuators ,smg pumps and vanos pumps

This is genuinely the most I've laughed at a car show recently. It has very good CHM vibes.
Ed is quick witted and loud with his opinion. Very Clarkson like yet original in his experiences and references.
Freddy is the smart one who makes bad choices. His comedy bits seem a bit forced/unnatural, but funny none the less.
Tyler is great with physical humor. There is no way the chicken stare during the credits was scripted.

I really like this series, but whoever's doing the sound design needs to chill. The sound effects laid on top are way too much. One example was that the baby noises were distracting with how fake they sounded, and how much they seemed like an afterthought.
I only say it because I care, and I want the series to keep improving.

I don't think it's fair to compare them to Clarkson, Hammond and May. They have the chemistry we were looking for in a car show for sure but their personalities don't fit so cleanly into defined roles as that.

6:08 I have seen similar lamps glowing in a taxi in UK some years back - although that was a VW Passat. Before I had seen the lamps I asked the driver if he ever had problems with the car. His reply was something like: "I drove it for almost 350,000 kms [approx. 220,000 miles] and other than regular service like tyres and brakes it ran fine all the years."
