Omg yes John, that “all for you” performance is hands down my favorite Judy performance as heartbreaking as it is, she delivered and is utterly brilliant and beautiful.
Thank you so much John for keeping her legacy alive ❤❤
What did you think of the interview?
Thank you so much dear Harvey for this amazingly informative interview which was so incredibly helpful and indeed interesting to hear for me, as I thought I had known so many facts about dear Judy, yet learned so much more here. A beautiful soul she was, yet sad, as she gave so much of herself, and she had never truly found for herself a person not to take advantage of her. I miss her to this day. Your questions were once again spot on, and John was exceptional with being a fountain of information. All in all, an immense amount of great memories and a joy to listen to. You my friend, are the cats pajamas! I absolutely love your incredible interviews, and you! This woman will never be forgotten, ever. She was and will always be, a legend, into countless millenniums. God’s blessings to you always. Once again, I thank you, most sincerely. Love and Kisses xoxo 🥰🤗😘💕❤️⭐️❤️✌🏼😎🥰🥰💙❤️🥰❤️
Frankie you’ve brought tears to my eyes!!! Thank you so much, from my heart to yours. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow, I did not know people still used the "cat's pajamas" as a slang anymore. No offense, I am not trying to age anyone. I am in my 50's. But I know the slang is from the 20's.
@cocoaorange1 did someone use that phrase in the interview? It’s been so long
Now this is a priceless interview . This is what matters in an interview . I hope for part 2 - . Thank you both .
Thank you so much for watching
John has done more for Judy’s legacy (other than her) than anyone around. Just fantastic!
That is very true. He’s a walking encyclopedia of Judy’s life and career, and his books are brilliant. I absolutely adore him.
John Fricke´s research and real care about Judy´s talents and legacy is a joy to behold...the interesting thing here is he can be both pragmatically objective without losing his endearment for the star.
Thank you for the interview, Harvey.
This was one of our earliest shows and remains one of our most popular to this day.
It was my second viewing @@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980
Wonderful to see this - such a wonderful interview of the Great John Fricke who is the greatest expert ever on the Wonderful Miss Garland. So enjoyable and informative THANK YOU Both !!
Thank you so much!
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 You are very welcome Mr. Brownstone. Mr Fricke is one of my dearest, dearest friends. I have been collecting on Miss Garland for 50 years and if you would ever like to see some of my collection, over 30,000 items, please go to www.judygarlandcostumes.com. I plan to watch some of your other videos as well. My best to you
This was excellent! Learned so much about the Great Judy Garland. What a fantastic and yet sad life she lived. So glad that John and you Harvey have helped us learn so much about Judy. What a professional interview about a terrific lady. I look forward to more interviews with John.
Thank you so much. I hope you’ll check out more of our great interviews and consider subscribing to our CZcams channel 🙏❤️
So much I didn’t know about this incredible woman. John Fricke has so much knowledge and love for Judy Garland. A wonderful engaging interview Harvey.
Thank you so much Ella!
I read the Coyne Steven Sanders book and enjoyed it a lot. I wanted to read the most accurate story about Judy, because I think that's very easy to find some kind of tabloidish books about her, just as the great majority of videos there are in CZcams where you hear about her "tragic, drug addictive, life she led", and almost nothing regarding her humongous talent, her wit, her intellligence, her fabulous sense of humor, her profound feelings... Now I'm looking for John Fricke's books. It's great to learn more of Judy from those who, of course, know all about her demons, however balance this hard information with the power and wonderment she was..
Thank you for this video 😊.. 💜🌿
Thank you so much for watching our show. I hope you’ll check out our other great interviews and consider subscribing to our CZcams channel. 🙏❤️
Harvey Brownstone is my family and I’s favorite interviewer. An amazing guy!
Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate your very kind feedback about our show. It means the world to me!❤️
John is absolutely wonderful!
Brilliant! Finally, a definitive, intelligent, accurate AND appreciative analysis of one of the greatest entertainers in modern history. The legacy of Judy Garland will always live on.
It's rare for both the interviewee and the interviewer to be on the exact wavelength but these 45 minutes reflect that superbly. Well done and thank you to both.
Thank you so much for your very kind feedback. You make all of the hard work and preparation SO worth it!
Amen! So much nonsense about Judy out there but John is the Wizard of the truth!
When she was on a talk show, she wore this gorgeous gown, she stated she designed it. I think she should have went into fashion design.
She had such immense talent
Judy Garland was born and spent her first 4 years here in Minnesota where I live. The house she lived in is in Grand Rapids, MN, and is a museum.
I’d love to see that museum one day.
Come on up!
Thank you...an amazing interview✨🌟💖🌈
Thank you so much!
What a nuanced and interesting conversation! I thought I knew a significant amount about Judy, having an entire week-long lesson on her story in high school, but of course, an entire lifetime such as hers would include so many side plots and details.
Thank you so much for watching this very special episode of our show. 🙏❤️
Crying at the solemn "thank you" John received
John Fricke is a national treasure
John Fricke has done, and hopefully continues to do, so much for “ our girl” Judy. ❤️ Thank you for this Treasure Mr Brownstone.
You are so very welcome. Hopefully John will return to our show soon. He was a joy to interview.
What a wonderful insightful interview.
Thank you so much!
How I wish this man had been a husband of hers. To have someone so devoted to you is a gift. I think I would come close to running out of adjectives to describe this man and my admiration for the way he carries himself.
I agree 100%. I absolutely adore him.
This just never ends for me with these marvelous interviews. I have a feeling this one will be among my favourites. Apparently it's going to be another late night.
Please do let me know what you think of this very special conversation with the fabulous John Fricke. He’s become a very dear friend and I absolutely adore him.
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980I loved it! I can't get enough of these interviews. I've become a rabid fan. Not to worry, not in an Annie Wilkes way. ;-)
This interview puts me OVER THE RAINBOW. Txs.
What a beautiful thing to say! Thank you so much!!🙏❤️
An absolutely terrific interview. I felt like it could have continued on twice as long!
Believe me I felt the same. Hopefully the fans will clamour for a Part 2
And even longer than that! I have read his books, watched him on TV many times, and he always brings something wonderful and new- just when you think you've heard and seen it all!!!🤔🙄😱🤗♥️
Great interview
Thank you so much
Harvey, there were multiple pairs of red slippers in Wizrd if Oz. Some are at the Smithsonian. Others at her museum in Grand Rapids, MN, and were stolen but recovered several years later.
Yes there were 5 pairs. One is at the Smithsonian. One is at The Hollywood Museum. One is at Judy’s museum.
❤❤❤ this interview & Anything Judy! My favorite interviews were with Jack Parr esp. the one with Robert Goulet. She was a great storyteller & funny.
She was the BEST
wonderful - I wonder if in that short moment Judy had with John there was kismet because John was instrumental with ‘The Concert Years’ in showing people a Judy, that at that time, most thought didn’t exist. Thank you John and great interview!
Thank you so much! This is one of my all-time favorite episodes of our show. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and to post your lovely comment. ❤️
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Harvey - you also deserve great credit for your compassionate and insightful questions that allowed John to go deeper than I have heard before. thank you so much!
Thank you so much for saying that Randy. “Going deeper” was the exact reason I decided to start our show. Feedback such as yours means more to me than you can ever know. Thank you so much. ❤️
You have done it again and again. Dont scold me but I have never been a fan of JG - not her voice in singing or her films (exception A Star Is Born where she is great) although I of course know that she is considered one of the truly great artists.
But your incredibly eloquent guests, your straightforward and intelligent questions make me listen to the programs anyway. What a professional show this is!
Thank you so very much for your very kind comments about our show. That means the world to me. I truly appreciate your support.
Love this.
You do? I’m so happy!!
Very good interview. Sid used Judy as an ATM. There were no savings, no investments in property, etc. that would allow her to stop performing. Sid gambled it all away at the race track.
Yeah, just like colonel Tom Parker notoriously did with most of Elvis Presley's money!!!🙄
Thank you so much for watching!
I HATEEEEE Sid luft!!!! Just like I hate lorna luft for me and my shadows.
I read the book, it was OK, so was the movie. The movie "Judy" with Renee was intetesting.
I do not know much about Judy Garland - never really followed her career that much. Found it interesting your comment about her marrying many husbands who were gay......loved the look you gave when your guest said that at most they were bi-sexual.....right LOL. Anyway, maybe that explains her daughter, Liza, marrying David Gest....like mother, like daughter perhaps.
You are VERY perceptive! I generally try to maintain a poker face, but that comment about Judy's husbands made it very hard to keep a "straight" face (pardon the pun)!
Considering they married her, maybe they were bi. I heard rumors David was bi, but was he really?
@cocoaorange1 yes probably bi
Hi John...
Hello from Harvey
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 you could interview joe luft son of judy garland son
Did you ask him of Judy and JFK..
I’ve come to think that Judy was SA’d while at MGM. The intense hatred of her mother, some of her behavior, why she didn’t take advantage of the psychiatrists provided to her and instead made up stories to tell them.
Disgusting that Sid Luft & Vincent Minnelli did not give Judy child support for their children.
I had no idea
Wow, how worn out was Judy in 1959, that doctors instructed her to quit the biz? In addition, I never knew her last spouse Mickey Deans was bi. Did Mark ever remarry? I don't think Mickey did, he died a couple of years ago. I think Mark has passed too. Did Sid remarry as well? That is tragic Sid stole and wasted her money like that.
Yes she definitely had no luck with her marriages
Not a real fan of Garland, but her 1964 TELEVISION series is quite good.
I’m impressed - and grateful - that someone who isn’t “a real fan of Garland” took the time to watch this episode of our show and post a comment. Thank you so much!!
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 She is a fascinating, tragic figure. Like all icons of their time, they are usually betrayed by those close to them, Judy, Michael jackson, Elvis... etc.
Such a deep dive... excellent
@theessentials450 thank you! I appreciate you so much!❤️
