Every rapper is a lyricist by definition, some are just good, some are average, some are bad, some are great. Most people are terrible at judging lyricism, they usually use one metric (just multis or just punchlines). But lyricism is storytelling, punches, similes, compound syllables, imagery, etc..
It’s all subjective.
Great convo. Let's say that lyricism is what's on the page if the raps are written out. Not the recording, not the performance, just the words on the page.
Yes but defining or judging the lyricism on the page is what determines good or bad or great or medicore and more times than not, the person reading the lyrics don't even know what to look for. A lot of people just look for big words or punchlines. But lyricism is far deeper than that.
Run the jewels deserved a few Grammys but I doubt they submitted it.
Let’s Go!
Well I guess I'm on the "liked slightly less" tier 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
