I love the episode and concept of "these are my favorite X drinks", I just wish we got more of the banter and history you're so good at presenting. That being said, I couldnt be happier to see you using rum blends in pretty much all of these cocktails, I love bringing together different types of rum with difference notes and character and making something truly unique and delicious.
Five cocktails in only six minutes? Who are you and what have you done with Leandro?
😅
😂
Trying new stuff. 😊
💯
The addition of the rhum agricole to the Mai Tai is genius. It really takes the drink to the next level. Well done!
Queen's Park Swizzle is my all the time favourite drink. I love the simplicity and excellent balance in this fantastic cocktail.
I really enjoy the cleaner editing style that this has, keeps the video a little more dynamic and helps me stay paying attention, where in other videos I've stopped watching because nothing happens for 5 minutes and then Leandro leaves the screen entirely for like a minute
I’ll happily make both styles of videos :)
Gotta love the diversity of rum
5 excellent rum cocktails. You just can't go wrong. thank you Leandro!
I love these quick vids going over several drinks, because there's always at least one I have the ingredients for!
These are by far my fav videos of yours
This is probably one of my favorite videos from your channel. I can tell you're trying to be a little more upbeat and friendlier than in some other videos lol I appreciate that. Thank you for this awesome content ✌🏻
Oh, these are all sooo delicious!!! Love these cocktails!!
All of these drinks are fantastic.
I never really liked rum cocktails until I discovered the Hemingway Daiquiri and its now one of my all time faves !!
So true. Instantly fell in love with it
Same with me! I thought, from bad college experiences, that I just didn't like rum, and the Hemingway daiquiri was one of the first cocktails to open my mind back up to it.
As somebody who lives in Puerto Rico I deeply appreciate this video. Thank you Sir!
thanks for watching!
Perfect timing on this as I have just started dabbling with rum more!
let us know what your favorite is!
Those are some tasty looking cocktails! Great job my friend.
This kind of videos are awesome man! Keep up the good work champ.
These look delicious and very enjoyable presentations, thank you
Great list!
These are amazing! Definitely gave me a few to try out!
Perfect timing!!
I like the format of introducing multiple different recipes and just going through how to make them. That said I still very much appreciate the deeper dives on a singular drink from your other videos when you're bantering with Marius.
these are just in addition to and to summarize
Appleton just makes my mouth water. Love that molasses smell on it.
Love the new format.
Rum. Yum. Tracy and I love your channel, Leandro. Thx! 🍹🍸
Thanks!
Your Queen's Park Swizzle is on my list of drinks to make. It looks beautiful, and I bet that it's also delicious!
🇬🇾 Rum from my home land ❤️
Summer's almost over here in Europe, but you can be sure that I'm still gonna make all of these
Mai Tai's are simply the best.
Damn, that was QUICK, bro!
Very NICE! 😎
Whenever he says a spent lime shell I can’t help but think that the lime just had the best time of its life.
😂
Great video
You’re really speaking my language with this one!
Thank you for making rum cocktails without pineapple juice! I feel like so many classically have it as an ingredient which I find makes most basic bar rum drinks taste the same. Personally I don't like pineapple juice- too sweet and takes away from the other elements. Thanks for giving me more than just mojitos now! 😁
Awesome
Holy crap. I just watched this video and realized you mentioned Two James Distillery, which is right in my hometown of Grand Rapids, MI where I bartend at.
I have to go check them out now and sample their products!
I’m not sure if you already have this video and I missed it, but I would love a video that deep dives into how all the different types of rum are different (and which might be basically the same), like white, gold, spiced, aged, dark, black, black strap, agricole, navy, etc.
My favorite is the Mai Tai !
Love Two James! Detroit Represent!
I need to try all of these! When you add different spirits in the future could you explain the flavor profile? Like why aren’t you just using one type of rum and not two? Just would like to learn more ☺️
Nice.
Looking good, like the rapid-fire format.
I have noticed when you build a drink in a rocks glass and stir in the big cube from time to time you pause, lift the ice a bit, check things out and continue. What are you looking for here?
Wow
Love the use of the swizzle stick! I’ve just realised I don’t know what I’ve done with mine??
Cool cocktails on this list. Fun to see people's favorite rum cocktails. I still like my Jungle Birds and Hotel Nacional.'
its hard to pick just five LOL
@@TheEducatedBarfly Rum will do that to you ;)
Looks like I'll be making a Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and Old Devil tonight!
These sound great. A good answer to "Why is the rum gone?"
awesome video!!! i would love to welcome u here in austria!
thank you!
I don't know what it is about this video, but I really want to try all of these. I might just be partial to rum cocktails, though. There's something about rum that I just really love.
what's not to love. Now go get started on those cocktails
The mai tai is way more simple and good than it ever needed to be
Good upgrade for that Sailor Jerry's can be Foursquare spiced rum. Higher quality stuff and still fulfills that occasional spiced rum craving
Yeah also chairman’s reserve make a good one and also lemon hart blackpool
Nice video, but I would like to say that I prefer when you don’t cut the video this video and few other recent videos look a bit rushed it’s better when it’s more chill
Unfortunately even though more hardcore fans like us might like the longer videos these 5-in1 vids are the ones that get picked up by the YT algorithm and get the highest views. Can't blame the boys for wanting to grow the channel.
we'll always have the single videos that are a little slower :)
For the “Queen’s Park swizzle” can we replace lemon juice and simple syrup with sweet&sour?
La menta si mette alla.fine!!
Nice :)
Must’ve been a helluva time drinking all those
Hey , could you replicate the Malekula from Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa ?
The old devil sounds yummy.
Watching this while drunk... "Your making words up dude!" (Seriously how I feel lol)
I've always wanted to try a Mai Tai, but I'm allergic to almonds. Are there any quality orgeats that don't use almond or alternatives to orgeat if I want to make one at home?
What brand is that Boston shaker ?
Five R(h)um cocktails - and you deserve 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆. Great!
Slappy poo crushy pants!!!!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
gotta get my bar to start doing that Planters Punch. No brainer
which version is this?
I read about the "fun magazine" poem from the planters hotel, and smugglers uses all-spice.
I will weigh in here by countering the below gentleman to say bravo to this compressed menu of rum favs. I enjoy elongated versions around the holidays - but when covering the waterfront of worldly news and info I enjoy an abbreviated and consolidated report - 6 minutes of most subjects is all that's needed - after all - anything longer begins to interfere with my happy hour. Grazie ! Love the channel !
Would be interesting to hear your 5 favourite cocktails of all time
That would be a hard one a really really hard one but maybe I’ll start working on it. 😉
I’m not sure I love the editing lately I feel like we miss out on yours and Marius’ personality which is a major draw to the channel in my opinion!
We’re not changing anything permanently we’re just trying new things.
The Educated Barfly glad to hear it! I do enjoy the occasional short form video but I’ve missed your banter lately!
I like the tighter editing! I still want a bit of the banter, but I like a video that’s straight to the point
@@TheEducatedBarfly the editing makes it look like you're hiding something
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my login password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
Tea in a planters punch? Wow i have never seen that. But i guess planters punch is like the mai tai everyone has his own recipe.
Planters punch is a very broad term, the "4 parts weak" doesn't just have to be ice or water, it could be tea as well!
Yeah I prefer tea for the weak
If I don't yet have a swizzle stick, what can I use instead? Would a bar spoon work?
Yes a bar spoon would work just as well use it the same as a swizzle stick :)
Please make a video of cocktails with black tea :)
I would never ever order a cocktail from a guy in an apron or smock. Too precious.
Small question. When you say Black Tee, which tee in expecific?
Really it can be any black tea you like. I tend to go for English breakfast.
As a bartender, I cannot imagine a cashless society without us being content $$$ wise.
i was was geniunely shocked by the second camera angle near the beginning. I actually went back to make sure i saw it right. hahahaha
Your “slappy pooh and crushy pants” comment earned you my sub
Love you guys to death! I have become the bartender in my circle thanks to you guys over the past few months.
One request I have would be to have a distinction of all the rums. Often times, the specs provided call for “Jamaican rum” or “aged Jamaican rum” and “dark Jamaican rum” and in each scenario, you’ve used Appleton Signature so it becomes a bit confusing at times.
Nonetheless I love everything you guys do! I have a love for mixing thanks to you!
Will do! But that rum fills all of those “categories”
thats a really cool planters punch recipe, super different from the smugglers cove version. what kind of black tea did you use?
also would love to see more of your favorite cocktails!!
I used English breakfast
Yes it’s a new series
lol i guess this beats my rum and coke.
I don't think I've ever seen a Planter's Punch recipe, let alone any cocktail recipe other than one I came up with, that includes plain black tea. This seems to be different from what you get if you just search "Planter's Punch".
For the record, the cocktail I came up with has probably been done before, it's just that it hasn't been shown here or on Cocktail Chemistry, How to Drink, or Distinguished Spirits before. It's basically the love child between an Arnold Palmer and a whiskey sour.
1/3 oz lemon juice
2/3 oz simple syrup (I use a 1:1, the balance might be thrown off if you use a higher ratio syrup)
2 oz bourbon (dealer's choice, but I've take a liking to a 100 proof Knob Creek 9 year)
Shake with ice. Pour over cracked/pebble/crushed ice that fills about half of a pint glass. Top with unsweetened black tea (ideally, you want at least four ounces).
Great video as always, although I love the history and banter in other videos. You have really inspired me to expand my collection of spirits. Sometimes when I go out for a drink, it can be meh, and I think to myself : Leandro would give me a better drink at home to make than this! Sante!
Was expecting an over-proof garnish to make an appearance.
I love how all rum cocktails are basically Daiquiris with some variations.
And a daiquiri is just a sour with rum 😉
What's the difference between a queen's park swizzle and a mojito?
The addition of bitters and technically the Queen’s Park originally used Demerara Rum but I enjoy it most with White rum. It’s more striking and much sharper in flavor but both are good :)
What, no El Presidente? 😉
is there any other differences between curacao and blue curacao other than the color?
No, it should be the same but some blue curacao have a lower alcohol content
The Educated Barfly what about triple sec?!
Just drank a cocktail - rum based, lime, 43 liqueur, yuzu, and a demerara chili rim. But icannot identify the other ingredients... saddddddddd I loved it.....
I'm sorry, but there shouldn't be any Rhum Agricole in a Mai Tai, especially if you say it's Trader Vics! If you read the excellent description in the book Smugglers Cove, it's detailedly written there why (my source). Cheers
What can I use instead of the almond syrup? I am allergic 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
You can make Orgeat out of avacado pits and it’s really good
@@TheEducatedBarfly thans for the tip 🙏🙏🙏
I'm a gin drinker, but we've gone through 3 bottles of rum this summer!
I am also a gin drinker, but I've gone through 3 bottles of rum this morning.
jaczekdertuerke 🤣
FYI in the video description it says lemon juice for the mai tai
Fixed. Thanks!
The Educated Barfly 😘
What rum should I buy if I want it to be versatile? There are so many types in the video alone😂
If you buy a bottle of white rum you’ll be able to make a lot of drinks. So I’d go with like a general rum blend like Plantation 3 star or banks 5 island
Ahh the old slappy poo and crushy pants😋😂😄
Oh please Leandro, you knocked StheB waaay outa my ballpark long ago! DO NOT stand sideways and smile, not even for a moment... I'm begging you...😭
I miss the good old days, when the recipes were included in the description……..😢
The first one can you call simply a mojito???
Great video but how can you not have a Mojito in your top5?
Because the Queens Park Swizzle is basically a Demerara rum mojito with the addition of Angostura bitters and it would be too similar in the same vid also I like it better. More complex
@@TheEducatedBarfly I add bitters to my Mojito anyway :D
Did anyone notice the stove vent all of the sudden appear at 4:08 ?
Yeah we mask it out of our vids and sometimes we miss a spot LOL
@@TheEducatedBarfly haha that's hilarious and I love it :p
How do you just have an orchid sitting around
No mojito?
Eventually there will be a new video on the mojito. Was saving for that one
Wish I could get into rum, I think there's just a bit too much of a sweet bite in it for me. I'm trying to learn more tiki these days, but there aren't as many tiki drinks without rum. That might make a cool video sometime.
Oh I’ll definitely put it on the docket! That’s a great idea!
