dont be scared to crash or hurt yourself and keep your self calm and collected
Do or do not. There is no try.
beer give you confidence :P
MTB coaching/skills building clinics. Talk about super confidence boost and immediate ability to hit the trails after and practice practice practice!
If you can't visualize how you're going to successfully ride a feature, don't attempt it.
Through practice, you can eventually expand your comfort zone. However, I do find riding with friends gives me the biggest amount of confidence, especially when they are slightly better or more daring than me. But then thats my competitive nature coming out. There's definitely a lot to be said for personally types within MTB skill level.
Depends about the riding with friends being beneficial. The distraction, competition and encouragement beyond ones MTB abilities, can sometimes be detrimental, although good advice and direction from friends is most often useful.
I got a very nice taste of OVER confidence today, overestimating a familiar trail and brutally busting my @ss. Going to need a new handlebar and somehow my back tire popped off. My worst crash to date. The hard part, I suspect, will now be rebuilding my confidence
I feel like the bike you’re riding can inspire more confidence or less if it’s crappy or just a bike you’re not fully comfortable on. Also the fear of what could go wrong like you mention.
You're right, Alex! To an extent, the bike you ride will inspire a certain amount of confidence. 👊
That gap at the end was very friendly, almost "no consequence" zone. I'm scared of those gaps where jump and landing pads are built from rocks or wood logs that create sharp ledges. Hitting those ledges is a high consequence situation, which scares me a lot. Watching MTB fail videos on CZcams does not help either.
Include, don't over-estimate your abilities and skill. Injuries and crashes are a confidence killer. Also, learn how to crash. Blake@GMBN did a brilliant video 1-2 years ago about how to exit your bike safely/minimal injury.
I love how you went through it step by step. Makes me eager to improve my riding because it all seems possible. Thanks!
We're so glad you found this useful! Thanks for the support! Legend! 🙌
Nice one rich, keep them coming, it’s a lot about positivity while riding I find, we all get good and bad days on the bike, some days you just feel like a squid
Loving the collaboration between the GMBN lads and Rich Drew/The Ride Series in Bentonville.
This is great Rich🤘
Huntley Gravity Zone in the mountain bike capital of the world 👍🏼
Sure is! ;)
"the area you're not to good at" that will be the mountain biking bit haha
Haha! We've all been there! Keep up the practise and safe riding! 👍

Sickkkk
Hey, you guys should come check out Hamsterley forest in the north east. some awesome trails and even some pro downhill tracks.
For me, confidence reduces comfort braking, which makes the ride flowy and easier. For some, I think confidence would reduce panic braking, which is rarely the answer on features, and why I see so many bite it. Spot on Rich, with getting off your bike and walking it. I would also recommend quality gear, including a full face helmet. Proper technique never hurts, either. Now, how about another video with your Dad?
I just got excited thinking this might be the start of bath bike park……… then Google told me it’s a bit more than a drive away 🙈
Drops I don’t have a problem with , gap jumps make me nervous
I stared at that drop quite a bit last week. Didn't do it as I was out on my own and had already bashed up my left side. Should be easy with correct technique and speed, but the rockiness of that trail messed with my head more than the gap.
Hey Jason! Yeah, in those situations, it can be best not to try new features! Go back and smash it with a riding friend! 🙌
I live a block away. If you want to be towed in, hit me up! That drop is good fun once you get it. 🙌
I just wanna be able to clear the Fort William river gap! I just get flashes of fear thinking of my son, paying the rent and even being able to make the 3hr drive home and what happens to my car if I'm taken to A&E!
Most the drops where I live happen just before a turn. If I go off the drop with enough speed I won't be able to make the turn so I end up just walking around them.
Dear gmbn, how could I make solo riding a bit more fun since I relocated to South Yorkshire and don’t have any riding buddies
Hi Gmbn! I am a begginer cyclist, just buyed a cheap mtb! 🚲
I just wanted to make sure that..
Is it normal for bike disk brake squeaking after a rainy ride!?
Anyone see the video where the skilled mountain biker breaks his neck and is currently paralyzed? Look it up. That was enough for me. Be careful out there guys and gals!!!!
You should make a video about overconfident it’s something we all do Including myself.
👌👌
That moment when you realized you built a jump that none of you and your friends will send
This one hurts! We've all been there! Safe riding! 😂
