- The Type B isn't just another polymer-style duty gun, it is a duty gun with many well-thought-out features and technology that provide a fast and controllable pistol. See the Retro grip Type B and Gen II grip Type B in detail with this inside look into its mechanics.

I was always a big fan of Arsenal Strike One/Archon Type B Gen 1, but those were never sold in my country, Czech republic. So when Archon Firearms announced, that they're moving the production in to the Czech republic, it was a dream come true. I'm getting mine real soon, can't wait!
Wow I had no idea PTR picked up the Archon Type B! I live about 15 min from the PTR plant in Aynor, SC.
Iron Horse has the high end skus, think Zev for Glock Iron Horse does for Archon!
I have one of the original Archon Type B pistols from 2019 and its a great handgun. Super lower recoil and very ergonomic. Glad to see they are coming back on the market. Very informative video by the way.
Waiting on the type D. February can't come quick enough.
Do you prefer the normal-looking slide?
Thanks for the intel!
Very interesting gun matched by great overview. Thank you.
The Type B was meant as a Glock 19 competitor, but with the P365-sized micro compacts, that market is shrinking.
I would love to see a full sized 5" version for duty and competition. That's where this type of action shines most. Basically the Strike One Speed with all the lightning cuts, but a red dot cut, slide serrations, full size grip, and ideally no proprietary magazines but the ones from the Shadow2 or P10F. Or at least a threaded 5" barrel for the current Type B gen2.
You are describing the Strike One Dark Horse by Iron Horse Firearms, just released last week.
@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 looks like i did. But for $2000 that thing better be good and get some extremely positive reviews, otherwise i can't justify spending Staccato money on a polymer gun...
Great info, excited to participate in the relaunch. Ill be getting a G-Code Phenom Stealth Holster, mounting a Lead & Steel Pandora PB-3 Micro Red Dot, & replacing the rubber grip tape with Agrip by brooks tactical. velvety but very grippy.
I know my gen 2 Type B ACRO cut with the 4lb Shortened Reset Geometry Trigger Job wont disappoint . Thanks Jimi!
Awesome setup, even more excited to get yours to you, can't wait to hear what you think about the trigger upgrade we've created. It is so good with zero over travel and 50% reduction in reset. Appreciate you!
Great review thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I like the look of the old grip texture more than the gen 2. In my opinion they should release both if they can
They have. They're listed by the PTR, rain6, & Iron Horse online stores right now.
Great video! Can't wait to get mine! Could you do a video about the trigger mods you guys do?
Yes, it's coming very soon! 4 days eta
nice
imagine if they had a metal frame for competition.
It's coming!
@@ironhorsefirearms4593 hoping it's 2011 style with the steel frame and polymer modular grip. Heck add in the 5 inch barrel too! :O
@@SneakyBI think you just defined the Daniel Defense H9 to a tee lol I would rather have the Archon or Arsenal Strike One Regal frame
Woot Woot!! I'm so excited for this Gen2. Any threaded barrel options coming? You are the BEST Jimi 👊🏻😎
Oh they're coming, stay tuned, soon! TY!
The Archon Gen 1 Type B listed on PTR-US website shares all of the same internals as the Gen 2? I know you said this in the video, I just want to confirm because I do not see anything about that in the description?
I’m waiting for an all steel version. That would be awesome.
They make an all steal version of the strike one. Actually it’s an aluminum frame.
@@swiftaudi what version is it? How would I search for it to try and buy one?
@@jamesbroughton7870 it’s call the ergal. Ergal stands for aluminum or something. So the strike one ergal or ergal pro, both are a bit different. The ergal adds 5 ounces to the gun my sai version with a surfer x300 balances very well.
I wouldn't expect to wait as long for the steel as we did for the base model

❤❤Maybe you could put the pieces of pistol infront of the camera close so we can actually see what your talking about ,i really am totally lost with what i could see and what i could not see i just have to try imagine what your trying to explain ,i mean some close ups of what your trying to explain and maybe i could understand and it would not be a waste of time review
These companies never last.
I love the Archon but you never know who's gonna own it next or when it might vanish for good.
This gun is so good that it has gone through several different companies. With PTR it should now be available hopefully for decades.
@fredsmith8498 Haha. That makes no sense. Glock and sig are so bad because it's never been a shit show to find someone to make them? Oh wait....they've both made good pistols for decades and have never disappeared and returned under new ownership.
@@rkwjunior2298 it has nothing to do with quality, but capital. The Hudson nine fails because they did not have enough capital to finance the parts. With PTR, there should be no problems with capital investment, and the pistol should be one of the favorites for home defense, and every day carry.
Any idea of when the metal version will hit the market?
I have a few strike one’s love those guns. I was always intrigued by the grip texturing on the archon type B to counter recoil forces (I bought into the marketing). So the real question now is with the gen 2 grip it offers flexibility with length (capacity) but you lose that geometric pattern style). Is it worth it (IE changing length and adding capacity is a real and measurable value) but does the “retro version” make a noticeable difference in recoil or is it more on the marketing piece which does not overtake the value of the modularity of the gen 2 grip. The easy answer is “depends on what you value” - please give me your opinion as you are infinitely more experienced with these handguns. Thank you.
I've contemplated all things you've brought up since I've had these in hand and handled them at Shot Show. I see the Gen 1 grip is for the users that really want to stipple and may not have ever cared for the Talon type grips. Doesn't mean they won't like it, just means I don't think they'll try it. Now, the Gen 2 grip is head and shoulders imo above any grip (stock) due to the texture and flared magwell that like I say in the vid allows the purchase to torque down on the flare and the hand sinks (wedges) into the grip . I'd say the Gen 2 grip is an easy call for greater value... even if you leave the grip static. Really it's that good, not to mention faster mag changes.
🐉it’s perfect♠️thank you🐉🏴☠️🐉🎩🤌🏼
I live in NJ. Any word on ordering to my unfortunate state? I'd love the gen 2 but sadly I wouldn't get the benefits of the modular grips.
I think you just need 10 rds. mags and we're working on it. NJ doesn't have an approved list do they? I hate commie states. No fun.
@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle13110rds would be clutch. I'm in NJ too and I'm about ready to order my first Archon. I'm psyched. I want the Gen 1 frame though!
Will the Gen2 Archon Type B optics ready slide fit the Gen1 lower?
Yes it will
When is the tactical one coming out with the threaded barrel?
Soon. Very Soon.
Will the new mags fit in Gen 1 Type B? Also, can a Gen 1 get optic cut?
Yes, the mags will fit and yes there are several machine shops that can cut your Gen 1, our favorite providing the best work is Culper Precision in Provo UT.
Allegedly, these mags are really a CZ75 pattern. Is that the case? If so, there are 13rd mags shipping for the IWI Masada Slim that should let it work in the short grip configuration. The Masada Slim can take longer CZ75 mags, so it should be part of this family.
Also, do you know what front sight is compatible with the original Strike One? I know the rear is proprietary...
Yes I got CZ75 mags from a friend and they fit in my Archon Type B which is the Gen1 now I guess
Made in Germany, made in Czech Republic, I’ve heard made in Hungary and Italy, soon to be made in USA. But my question is what nationality is Archon/Arsenal Firearms originally? I can’t find anything and this is the first video I’ve seen that actually mentions where it was made. Why is it all so secretive? lol. Looks cool either way however for $1000ish I’m kinda leaning the DD DH9. Metal frame, 1911ish trigger and ergos with a low bore axis from a company I actually know about and love is hard to beat.
The designer is Nicola Bandini, that recently founded his own manufacturing company, the Decima Divisione Balistica. Check his Rapax pistol. czcams.com/video/JA9quPMxeX0/video.html
Arsenal Firearms is an Italian Company. Bandini was the CEO when they introduced the Strike One.
Archon Firearms is the name of Arsenal Firearms in the US. They changed name there due to possible trade mark infringement in using the name "Arsenal".
could you advice 2-3 light for this pistol ?
ahhhh... x300 or Night Stick, TLR-7/8 and Inforce, you may have trouble getting a holster with the Inforce, but damn it matches the guns cuts!
So whats the deal with the firing pin indicator? Its in the middle of the gen 2 slide on some but not others?
Was actually only on the ones in Vegas for Shot, so all of them now do not have the indicator. We'll see what happens in the future, for now all guns are same except the plastic grips.
All Guns made in Czech Republic by Archon Firearms will have the indicator.
Will PTR warranty my slide that archon has been claiming to warranty for over a year?
I'd go to their site and submit a warranty claim... let us know how it goes.
What's that rifle over your left shoulder?
that's my Iron Horse Firearms rifle in 6mm ARC, makes 1k yards too easy.
I sent an email to Mil-Spin, they make both weighted & tunsten bead glassbreaker glock baseplates. Id love to see them offer support to the Type B platform.
All ive seen thus far for the archon are mag extensions, id love something more functional or competition oriented like that
Really REALLY wish there was extended or drum mags
Wish they would have kept the nicer bag they shipped in before instead of the cheaper looking case.
great call, I'm bringing a bag back!
@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131 that's awesome. Yeah that bag they came it was super clean.
this one is a bit more functional, but simlar. Can shoulder it, fanny pack it and it holds a lot more.@@TacticalBeardedDad
@@rain6firearmsandlifestyle131awesome. Just send it my way when ready. Lol.
