How to replace a rain bird 1800 in-ground sprinkler head in less than 10 minutes

  • Replace a rainbird 1800 series sprinkler head yourself. Anybody can do this repair with ease. Replacement is of a broken sprinkler head at the edge of a garden. 180 degree spray nozzle.

    Thanks for the how to- get you a 'Hori-Hori' (Japanese Gardening Knife) and it will make quick and easy work of digging small root born holes

    You really only have to dig down about an inch and then get a pair of channel lock pliers to loosen the head. Then you remove the entire unit and replace. You don’t have to dig all the way down to the fitting. You can take this down to about a three minute job.

    Only about 3x the cost just 7 years later. I think they call that inflation!

    It takes 10 minutes if the soil around the head isn't rocky.

    Did you shut the water off first?
