    After watching more than a dozen videos on sprinkler repairs and adjustments, this is the only one that covers the most common problems you can have with sprinkler repairs, maintenance and installation. Plus, it’s well made, organized, and with clear instructions to address each issue. Congratulations and thank you.

    I'd say an important note for the first section at 1:24 is the knowledge of the nozzle type. For Rainbird or Hunter sprays, check the model number of the nozzle on the top of the nozzle on the opposite side from where the water is spraying. It will say something like 10H, 12Q, or 15VAN on it. This indicates the spray distance, and spray pattern. 10H = 10 feet, half circle spray - so 180 degree spray. 12Q = 12 feet quarter spray - 90 degrees. VAN nozzles are variable nozzles, and are the type he is working with at 2:30 in the video where you can change the spray pattern of the nozzle. These typically break/clog easier than stationary nozzles like 10H or 12Q nozzles because they have smaller moving parts that allows the variable spray nature.
    Identifying whether the spray head itself is broken or if the nozzle is just chipped/clogged can be a big time saver, as screwing a nozzle off/on is far easier than replacing the whole head.

    So I have 11 zones in my system. My system runs off of a shallow well with a 2 Hp pump. System comes on fine with timer and works great until it reaches zone # 8. At that point pressure drops dramatically in zone #8 and only a small stream comes from one or two of that zones heads. I then go to my well pump and crack the threaded bleeder on top of the impeller housing. air bubbles will then come out and within a minute or two zone #8 will pressurize and come to life. The system will then finish off the remaining watering cycle without a hitch. Next day this same problem will repeat. What might I check in my system? Thanks

    Thanks for the video, I purchased a house which is over 20 years old with an irrigation well pump for the sprinkler system. Front yard pop ups are not popping all the way up when using the RainBird ESP controller in the house, but when I turn the valve on from the gound box they work fine with no problems (Valves are CP-100). Any suggestions on what I may need to do to fix this issue?

    • @LettucePlate
      @LettucePlate Před 7 měsíci

      Pressure loss is either caused from water escaping somewhere in the system from a broken pipe or leaky valve, or from not enough water getting pumped. If you can run the valves individually with good pressure, it means the water is escaping somewhere when the whole system is running.
      1. Broken heads, broken nozzles, or broken zone pipes can lead to pressure loss. Walk your property with the water running and inspect the heads individually. Check the surrounding turf to see if there's any water coming up from underground. If you find a broken pipe or water bubbling from under the turf, that is more than likely the source of the pressure loss.
      2. Check if your system is running more than one zone at the same time on the controller. Look at the run times on the controller. Make sure there's not multiple programs running on the same days/times that would lead to several valves being open at the same time.
      3. One of your valves might not be closing all the way when the zone turns off. See which zone has low pressure, i.e. zone 3 is low pressure, and check if the zone 2 valve closed tightly or if there is water leaking from the valve. A previous valve not closing all the way can mean water is still running into the zone pipes for that valve, and not all funneling into zone 3.
      4. If it's not any of those, you likely have some sort of pump or mainline disfunction that would need professional help unfortunately.

    I’ve never been able to adjust the rotors *before* installing them, I just put them in & if the fixed stop isn’t right, I just gently grab the stem & rotate it. I’ve done this for 20yrs this way...🤷🏻‍♀️ Same with the misters.

      You have to locate the solenoid that controls that zone. Dig it up and replace it. If you’ve never done that before puts best to call an irrigation service. The underground valve is hard to find without the proper equipment

    • @drdrew3

      The line that feeds that sprinkler head could be clogged. Run that zone with the head removed and make sure there’s flow. Less likely but possible is an underground leak
