Been Drywalling 20 years and all i have to say is this was enjoyable to watch and would pay you not to use those things.
The one that actually has drywall attached to it is legit, but only if it had a net patch(instead the terrible americana paper) and you put in a plank or two, that are longer than the hole. You use drywall screws to secure the planks to the wall, patch to the planks, then mud over it. Should be sturdy, that said the metal net patch isn't bad at all for small holes.
@@beardsntoolsyeah the mesh is pretty close to the proper way of fixing it anyway, just gotta change the method
I did it for 2 years and I can tell he should never do it again lol
I've learned that some times you just need to 'pay the guy' as a DYI patch will never look good.
Like a lot of things, finishing drywall is very easy and even satisfying to do, if you know what you're doing. This guy doesn't know what he's doing!
😊He's funny, but useless.
For your professional drywall skills I would pay you with a jar of pickles.
😂
Art galleries would purchase his drywall art. "Portrait of an insane man's antics"
You have OVER PAYED him. Maybe a bag of dog poo. lol
Fuck that; I'd pay him to stay away from my house!!! 😁
That's not enough. He should be force fed the pickles.
You spackle the paper FIRST (one side) with a thin coat. Apply to wall so it sticks. Now spackle the entire sheet with a light coat and blend edges. -The Landlord
With that little hole you just fill with spackle is all.
As a full time drywaller, people like you keep me in business, thank you!
Tyler over here using more spackle on a smal hole than I used during a full rennovation...
As an experienced carpenter this is hard to watch 😂 but completely expected
“Wood butcher”
It's the theme of the channel, just go with the flow and wait for the next video in which other people will feel the pain that you do now
@@rebel4466 oh I’m very familiar with the channel, this one just had that extra special “I’m pissed and don’t give a crap vibe” 😂
Agreed
My guy is a professional troll, and I'm here for it every time.
Tyler is the type of dude who made “potions” out of random stuff as a kid and I love it 🎉
... and then drank them, for sure.
When he broke the drywall all i could think is "dammit kyle...''
The workshop/garage is also Kyle’s ‘break room’ 😄
What is your name, Lonnie?
You have to coat the entire back of the paper with the mud or compound and squeeze out the excess with the 6 inch mud knife.
Me screaming this through the whole video 😂
Why the round patch failed. No COMPOUND in the back, AND he used spackle. Not an approved repair.
Also can you believe what he paid for that patch. You can literally get an entire sheet of 4"x8" drywall for less and make dozens of patches. . .
Which judging by this vid he could need to.
I have zero experience with drywall and I could figure that one out I thought he was doing that on purpose
Plus put it on to thick…plus didn’t sand anything down…plus plus plus lmao 😂
Tyler comparing his work to Picasso is just the chef's kiss
Tyler: *cakes a bunch of spackle onto a dry piece of paper* "It's real cracky, I don't know why"
That's because he's *overqualified* to be doing tasks such as this.
I would pay you to repair my enemies drywall 😂
I like how Tyler’s go to tool is a lethal weapon 😂
My landlord fitted a door buzzer, filled a gap with a penny and painted over the penny. Starting to think Tyler may be my landlord
Drywall in a can is the most Tyler thing ever 😂😂💀
I've always found Boot, Scoot & Boogie reality to be a bit unforgiving when it comes to due dates. Due dates are simply suggestions anyways. 🤣
I'm relieved to discover you're not really being evicted.
The fact that he used paper is incredible. I've never seen anyone do that, unless they stuff the paper in the hole to create a backing for the plaster... We love you Tyler 😂😂😂
It’s from TikTok. Only in the video they just put paper onto the wall and literally just paint over it with a roller brush.
You apparently have never lived in an apartment in the deep hood then
I learned the stuff paper in the wall method from my mom when I punched a hole in the wall and she made me fix it lol, she was a project manager for a couple construction companies, it actually works pretty good
For the paper method you need ACTUAL wall mud (compound), not just that patching stuff.
Ironically later in the video you mention the compound but ignore it, which is why your repairs aren't working right lol.
Also it's pretty bad when you ability to make holes in drywall is worse than your ability to repair it....... lol =D
If you call the number on the eviction notice, you'll get Better Call Saul hotline lol.
I thought you were going to test them to see which makes the wall look nice after the repair, but then you got out the golf balls and I lost it. Solid video.
It's people like you that make me buy junk like this, thanks Tyler 😂
If Tyler had been patching all the holes Kyle made in his drywall with these mad skills he would never have gotten evicted.
Can't wait to see how the rest of the drywall arc plays out on this season of TylerTube
Bob Ross would be jealous 😂
As a landlord I've fixed more tenant "repairs" than damage left unfixed. Not complaining, I give them kudos for trying (as genuinely good tenants) but it's like Tyler did the repairs for them.
Tyler demolition, never gets old.🤣
You couldn't pay to have him fix my drywall! 😅
3:53 You don't have to do our moms like that Tyler 😭
Paper method works best on a painted wall, apply some thin coats of paint then put the paper down and apply paint over it
Thank you for teaching me the landlord special, sure as hell beats concrete ramen, wish I knew it sooner
I love your videos Tyler but damn man, you should never be allowed to perform any type of drywall repair! 😂
lol - @3:25 How many people saw that coming? 🤣🤣
For smaller holes, I found that the spray-foam in a can works very well to fill a hole. You can not go too big, but you can fill a lot with the foam. Those patches are good because you can cut them to fit your size hole.
Ngl I thought he was getting evicted until i got nosy and zoomed in on the letter. He gets me again smh.
Tyler , Do you actually know how to operate a forklift?? 😂😂😂
I love how he just says “my actual eviction notice” and nobody bats an eye because it’s Tyler
Bob Ross of drywall fixing - pure ASMR without the tingling!
not this being posted the day i’m doing drywall repairs
How did u get evicted
Probably making really loud reviews at 3 in the morning. That’s my guess anyway
He didnt, its a joke one he printed up, its says something about Bathroom Shenanigans at Alcatraz island state prison.
@@c0ntriLand it talks about him breaking concrete because he's so fat
Rent control prevented the management company from raising the rent to "current market value" so they found a reason to evict him so they can find a new tenant to financially destroy.
They can't say that of course, but per the eviction notice you can read when he's plastering it to the wall, his mom allegedly caused a flood at the facility with bathroom shenanigans, her excessive wieght caused cracks in the concrete floor and the facility now needs to be remodeled, when she moves around she causes localized earthquakes which geologists theorize may lead to the island sinking. Because of the multiple issues, and the extensive damage his mom is causing to the facility they have justifiable cause to evict effective immediately.
@@c0ntriL 😂😂😂💀💀
On the first two patches with the eviction notice and the drywall circle with paper tape edge you should have put a solid coat of the mud under the paper for best results and bonding
I've never heard of using paper with spackle. I always just cram that stuff into the hole then layer it. I love the metal and mesh repair patches they work awesome!! I liked that spray on drywall stuff too. Lots of interesting products!
"my real eviction notice" > Boot Scoot & Boogie Reality
🤣
Those metal grids things look so cool, I'd put a whole line of them from floor to ceiling. Hi-tech style.
Disclaimer: I do not think you have bad teeth.
Would be interesting to see a review about teeth whitening products. Anything from different toothpaste types that seem ridiculous: Charcoal, purple colored, etc, or the other types like the uv mouthpiece.
Love your stuff! Keep it up!
4:08 when I bring my date up to the bedroom and she sees through my lies
😆😆
I love how upfront his videos are. He’s really honest and entertaining and deserves a sub and like. I have no idea how he comes up with the ideas for his videos. You never know what to expect. I like the variety of entertainment from him.
Pro advice on holes in the wall: What he's doing is fine, but instead of paper, take a bit of tape (doesn't really matter what kind of tape) and wad it up, then plug it in the hole to make an anchor point. From there, take a bit of spackling and fill until it doesn't hold anymore, then remove leftover spackling from your putty knife and smooth the spackling until it is flush with the wall. Let it dry over 4-5 hours, sometimes a little longer if your area is really humid or cold, and then paint it to match. These kinds of jobs I can't trust shortcuts on, but it definitely doesn't have to require an architect to do.
How the heck do you paint it to match 40-year-old drywall that's taken on it's own unique shade of white? I mean I don't know that for a fact, but I'm assuming you'll never get a truly perfect match, right?
@@WaxPaper if your paint has been that old, then it's probably best you repaint the whole room if you're worried that one shade more is going to be too much. There is also a white called "eggshell white" that is kinda close to that sort of cream color that old white paints turn to
@@point-five-oh6249 Thanks, I was just making sure there wasn't some fancy new technology that lets you perfectly match the color, because I couldn't imagine stock paint options perfectly matching all shades.
He used ... 400 grit... On coarse plaster ... We love you Tyler 😂
1:50 You can read the eviction notice 😂

You should call the number at the bottom
ramen and crazy glue
I have repaired customer repairs for many years now. I have seen everything to patch the hole from a roll of toilet paper stuffed in it with toothpaste smeared on it to tile mortar applied like peanut butter on bread.
The reoccurring humor in all this is that the customer is usually proud of their work and thinks it looks pretty good.
3:02 he said my name not knowing my name 😂😂😂
I feel like tyler is the perfect representative of the average American, skill wise.
Also IQ wise.
You should have your own tv series 🤣🤣
he should call it "the joy of painting"
Safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses. Oh wait, forget that last one which is probably the most important.
Thanks for making my birthday a great one Tyler! love the videos🙏🏼
Man, I love every video. And the fact that you dont let people get to you. To all those calling him out on doing stuff wrong, "Perfection Is The Enemy Of Perfectly Adequate." IYKYK 😂
3:50 - When Kyle has had too much Red Bull and starts diddling the wall with a spear.
10:49 When is it easy repair of wall damage? I busted out laughing.😂
I have one of those metal patches over a hole in the wall in one of the rooms in my house . Was going to come back the next day and coat it ,sand and paint it . That was four years ago . LOL Looks cool to me also so it stays as is . LOL
1:23 Me trying to hide my report card :
The way old timers fixed holes in the wall was to use old lid, fishing line and plaster..obviously the best lids were pliable plastic lids from coffee cans.. poke a hole in the lid, slide fishing line in the lid, put lid in hole and tie it off , plaster over the lid and let it dry then fix the pin hole.. I like this episode.. great job Tyler 🙂
I love how you act like any of those patch jobs were done well 😂
3:00 😆 "Well... I don't think the Presto Patch is going to repair this!" 😂
I love HD and that the Realtor is called Boot Scooten. Sucks that they think you're fat and housing hippos - but we can always pay them a visit at Yo Mamma's Dr.
Also, I think your patchwork looks amazing. It's almost imperceptible if I squint my eyes hard enough and hit myself in the temple a few times. Bravo!
Booty scoot and boogie reality 😭😂
did anybody with a large television pause And read the eviction notice it is absolutely hilarious. Tyler you are you funny funny guy
Thank you. Ive been doing drywall so long its easy to take for granted the skill required to do this stuff. I appreciate it more as of now. Lol
Don't know why but the word "Spackling" sounds funny to say! 😂🤣
Loved the video. Thanks. I have used the spray on sparkle and it worked fine for me.
Bold of you to assume a landlord would own a spackle trowel.
Hahaha. How NOT to repair your dry wall. Tyler, your videos make me laugh.
Took my time to read reasons for eviction and boy i'm not dissapointed😂
"1. Alcatraz island is getting a makeover because you're so fat you break floor.
2. You eat more food than a hippo and we will never recover from that.
3. When you walk it causes micro earthquakes that will eventually sink the world."
Tyler please never change
*then a heard of hippos
*is cause micro earth quakes
*sink the island
NEW TYLER VID BABY
As a plasterer by trade here in the UK, and knows how to do drywall (boarding and joint taping aspects (Using the tools) too)... I think this video is great, I mean, I wouldnt use these gimmicky fixes of course, but I do appreciate the video because it does highlight they just don't actually make it any easier or leave a better finished to the repair then, well, normal ways we would do it on a site.
If your interested in how to do it properly, cheaper in the most part, and leave a better finish, you cannot go wrong with the Vancouver Carpenter: www.youtube.com/@vancouvercarpenter
He does it pretty much like we do taping/repairing drywall like we do here in the UK.
I love how Tyler also probably got his hi-viz vest and hard hat from amazon as well
It’s funny you mentioned drywall and a piece of paper. In college I had a roommate who would get super high and drunk, and would get really emotional. Some nights he would get all depressed and cry about random things, some nights he would invite friends over who he would then get mad at and try to fight…..he would leave bongs and pipes all over the apartment. Towards the end of our lease he started using harder drugs, and that’s when he started to take out his anger on our drywall. The complex came out numerous times to fix it, and yes I told them that it was him and not me who was constantly causing the damage. Long story short, I came home from work and found two pieces of paper glued to the drywall. I was so confused. The funniest thing about him using paper to cover up the drywall, was the fact that he used the wrong color paper. Our walls were a medium yellow color, and the fool used white printer paper….i just went into my room and pretended that I didn’t see it
Awesome video Tyler 👌🏻
That is the best eviction notice I have ever read. "We look forward to you no longer eating all our food." lol
i love the landlord slander keep it up ☝️😎
That pink stuff is amazing. im a painter and use it all the time
As someone who actually dose drywall repairs for a living. This was painfully entertaining 😂❤
I can tell by the high viz vest, hard hat, and the way that he feathers the edges on the paper patch that this guy knows what he's doing. 👍
I really need a TylerTube and ODS crossover episode.
The eviction notice is fun af if you put on max quality and zoom in when he is putting on the wall.
This is why i prefer solid brick walls. No need to fix a hole in the wall when it's hard to make a hole on the wall in the first place.
I laughed so much when you broke the full sheets of drywall by accident
Tyler: "I don't think I'm doing this right".
You know there are things called instructions. They are located on the packaging. Lol
Unofficially the best CZcams channel. Good Lord
Nobody:
Tyler: I'm gonna find some excuse to ram my head into drywall a couple times.
I could feel this man’s passive aggressive energy
When he name drops someone for a hole in the wall 😂 KYLE 😂
Cant wait to see you break the drywall in the “best of 2024” video
Tyler is the only repairman we need..
Why does this remind me of Fire Marshall Bill with his scenarios 😂😂
God f****** dammit Tyler u f****** make me burst out in laughter every single f****** video one of the reasons I f****** love u man.
I thought the landlord special was to roll paint on the wall, lay a sheet of paper on the wet paint and roll more paint over it.
I think you're right.
I love Tyler Tube vids
I was a drywall hanger finisher for 15 years...lol this was very painfull to watch..but i did laugh a LOT!
You can make your own patches by taking a piece of drywall a few inches bigger than the hole and remove the paper and gypsum from the back to the size of the hole leaving the paper on the front about 3 or 4 inches bigger than the hole. Put a thin coat of glue on the paper to stick it to the wall. When this is dry mud over it lightly and sand feathering the edges. Small holes just use bedding tape, mud, and sand. larger holes, cut existing drywall back to middle of stud, cut drywall to fit, then bed like a full sheet.
Paint a happy tree here. Bob Ross
