Bluebell Hive. Update 01 Overwintered Brood and a Half.

  • I ran this colony as a brood and a half over winter, with the super on top.
    I have got a second colony, again run as a brood and a half, but with super below and will inspect this in the next few days for comparison. Thanks for viewing and subscribing. If you like the video can you give a thumbs up please. How have you got on with brood and a half? Would like to hear.

    When I’ve overwintered with more than one box, the comb built in between was a bit tiresome. I had to remove it to inspect but really didn’t like tearing it apart when brood was inside. I’m currently without bees but going forward I’ve decided to go 14x12 to still have a large amount of space but not have the issue of comb being built in the space between boxes.

      Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment Rob. It's definitely a bit of a messy system as far as the beekeeper is concerned. I will probably go back to single brood boxes and feed with a big slab of fondant. Good luck if and when you start up again.
