  • Andy Mitten is at Old Trafford to talk about Manchester United's Academy, what level is it at in 2024?
    Subscribe to the next 10 issues of United We Stand magazine here: www.uwsonline.com/subscribe.php
    One of the highlights of the 23/24 season for Man Utd has been to see the emergence of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as first team regulars, continuing the clubs proud tradition of youth development.
    With recent success for the U18's winning the Premier League North title and also the Premier League Cup it's a good time to think about where the clubs youth system is at currently and how success at academy level is measured. Let us know what you think in the comments below...
    United We Stand: The Manchester United Fanzine:
    First published in 1989 when Manchester United was very different to the corporate beast it has become, United We Stand is an independent voice of Manchester United supporters.
    The majority of UWS writers watch Manchester United home and away and the mag has long been established as one of Britain's best selling football fanzines.
    Influential, incisive, irreverent and proudly independent, UWS tells it like it is. You might not always agree with the opinions within, but you'll take note. #ManUtd #ManchesterUnited #OldTrafford

    I grew up being in awe of the Cliff and its history when I’d go there as a kid watching Robbo, Choccy and Hughes run round. Sometimes when I was supposed to be at school. Even Littleton Road and Gigg Lane had a thing about them watching what became the class of 92 train and in reserve games. Sadly, that’s not enough these days. Hope they fix what’s wrong at Carrington. At least our new part owners seem to care.

That is something we should all be proud of.

    • @dt937
      @dt937 Před 18 dny

      It's too complicated for me to elaborate because i don't fully understand it myself.
      However the way I see it is players achieve points for amounts of minutes played abroad for the first team in their domestic leagues and at youth international level for appearances in order to gain a visa to come and work in the uk 'I think' ! Obviously if you have a 14 or 15 year old player they aren't going to of played many if any minutes in the first team so chances of them having gained enough 'points to 'come and get a visa to play over seas is very unlikely hence the garnacho reference. I think you get more points for how successful the club is aswell as how far the progress in cups and stuff I cant figure it all out but the info is online.
      Like Andy mentioned. If a player has gained enough points to qualify for a transfer they have obviously been playing at the first team level so they aren't going to be happy coming over playing for the youth sides because they will be of age and see themselves as established players.
