Dude idk about you guys or Apollo but the way Gondor looks in this game- they have to be my favorite faction, the detail, the sun gleaming off their polished armor, the classic spearmen front the movies and their maps/buildings bring a tear to my face everytime.

I'm the Gondor player that sent over the Fountain Guard and Marines (Bane), Basically Dul Goldur threw his trolls into the front gate into Caltrops and my Marines throwing Javelins and died or routed within thirty seconds, that's how the trolls for Dul Goldur got so few kills.

Apollo you gotta do a Constantinople siege in MK1212. They updated the map and it's sick, very cinematic, 3 layers of walls and a moat, just like the old days. Love your content, keep it up king

25:50 is why it makes most sense for defenders to retreat to the city square. I have no idea why CA changed this from the older Total War games.
In the middle of a siege? Retreat through the enemy and out toward where their army came from in order to get out. Duh. Don’t retreat to the center where you can regroup and catch a breather to prepare for the latter stage of the fight.
1:15 Actually yes, that is the case. Orcs were known for specialty breeding throughout Middle Earth history. Though orcs and trolls went through several major revamps under Sauron over the eras, The Hobbit makes mention that, as the dwarves fled from goblintown, there were special night vision enhanced goblins who were better at chasing in the caverns than their larger, more warrior bred goblins.
This was really fun to watch haha also relaxing to watch these after a week of Just feeling really tired and wore down haha hope to see more of this always looking towards these LOTR videos

It would be so cool if there was a mod where archers that fell back in reserve can climb on top of roofs and assist in street battles or challenge the wall archers of the enemy

The breaking of Minas Tirith's gate plays out a little differently in the book - right after Grond breaks it down, the Witch King is the first to enter, and has a bit of a standoff with Gandalf. They don't actually fight; like the movie, the Witch King is about to attack but falls back because the Rohirrim arrive at that moment. Though it seems unlikely that he could have beaten Gandalf alone, seeing as Gandalf successfully held off all nine Nazgul at Weathertop at night, when they're at their strongest. He *is* a Maiar, after all :P

Awesome video as always Apollo!! The game is so good and well made!! I hope they soon also add more Lord Of The Rings sounds like Third Age: Reforged had. Instead of these Attila/Rome 2 sounds like the people talking, the horns etc. As well as some more differences between the orcs, and troops all around, so that they don't all look the same, with more variations.

In real historical battles, archers didn't really shoot in volleys. Because drawing a bow is heavy so not always possible. And some archers could shoot faster than others. That is why they were actually more deadly. A volley of arrows can be easily spotted and you take cover. But a single arrow at a time, you hardly see it. So whenever you see in a film or hear about a historical figure that died by an arrow, it is because they did not expect the arrow because they didn't see a volley. A volley could have been done in certain ceremonial traditions, but in battle, they were impractical
Acualy in atilla when the archers curve their shots they are more accurate and always do better than when they dont curve especialy if you are shooting units on the wall
