My wife and I had our first dance to the vocal version of this at our wedding in 2017. This will always be one the most important songs of my life. I look forward to showing this to my children, and their children. It is my view that Thomas is the most important composer of this century! Where words fail, music speaks. Thomas writes novels with this song. An absolute masterpiece through and through...
It’s so nice to see a man and not transgender individual. I compliment you for what you’re doing. a lot of men are falling into the pressure myself included.
Thomas , your style of music is simply brilliant. There are millions of good composers but few that can really pass emotions through their compositions. You are my absolute favorite and biggest inspiration, thank you for the amazing music you bring to this world.
this song woke me out of a sound sleep. I had put a bunch of TSFH songs on a playlist, and some of them I hadn't heard before, and I fell asleep. when this song came on, I started gradually hearing it in my sleep. it was pulling my attention farther and farther away from sleep and closer to focus and then at around 2:20 that part of the song played and it woke me up, and the tears just fell. not because of a memory, or a particular thought it provoked, but purely because of the indescribable beauty in the sound. I am autistic, so music and sound is the most important thing in my life, and Ive heard a LOT of it, but this song, and all other versions of it equally, are the most beautiful sound ive ever hear in my life. ive never heard anything like it. I also had a lot of horrible things happen in my life, so its rare that I can find ANYTHING that actually makes me feel ok. but this song, this ONE..SONG... it helps my depression, and im legit serious, stops my autism meltdowns. and it makes me HAPPY. which is something I thought as impossible. I truly believe that Thomas bergersen is the god of music
I hope you read this reply after so many years. I think I truly can understand what this music means to you. It´s this unlimited beauty, this pure feeling of losing connection to this world whilst having never lived so intense before, it´s like you have more of true existence in one of these moments than in days of your other life. And this is the terrible thing about this world, you may see in your deepest soul: that so few people can see what you can see and their lives are cold and sens-less. But I also can tell you that there are more people like you than you think. You won´t ever find someone exactly like you, but even someone different can see the same things like you in this world, feel the same feelings and somehow understand you. But in such a personal depth any harm or misunderstanding can be unbelievable painful (That´s why most people live a shallow life in my opinion). And here´s my final advice: You can´t talk to your emotions and tell them to be happy or something. Your emotions are like a small child and the only thing that can help them is accepting them and giving them the hold and the love a small child needs. You even hug yourself. Just stay trustworthy to your emotions. Best wishes and music makes you braver.
Few months ago this music makes me braver and just confident, but now I'm just crying. I'm so lonely, sad and tired. I have no energy for life. I think that Thomas can make me the braver again, I was wrong. I must scratching for my own compass.
No matter how many problems you have, no matter how much helpless you feel, you press the play button, close your eyes and even for just a little bit you feel like everything's going to be okay.. Thank you TSFH for your awesome music
Gazing long and searching far There! Up there's the Northern Star Age-old compass, don't you roam Guide these long-lost soldiers home Guide them homeward, past these miles Home to spouse and children's smiles Lord, you placed them on this quest Lead them home to find their rest
What's the big idea? Pressing the dislike button? What monster could do that after hearing this beautiful piece? He'll be literally two steps from hell due to that!
Heh ... there are some 12-year trolls on internet (we all have to deal with them) who dislike almost everything on youtube just because their moms force them to eat all their vegetables.
I bought this CD from Amazon and with all the 2 steps from Hell collection, this one is my best song. I put it on repeat :) It's so emotional and made me cry several times as my father passed away recently and he said I should go out and build my dreams as he has set me free now. Go test yourself, there are no boundaries. This song is perfect and just listening to it in my car brings tears to my eyes.
Thank you for that, Lydia. I came across your comment while trying to find the actual sounds at the beginning. I recognized the bird sounds and assumed the typewriter sounds were wings fluttering but sounded more like a moth's wings against a light. Interesting.
Fantastically wonderful song. When I listen, I see a young man given an old compass on a chain. Throughout his life he checks it every time there is doubt about the pathways and choices of life. When he's in school, graduates, joins the army, meets his future wife, house, children, grandchildren, the death of his beloved, memories, and finally now an old man, he checks the compass one last time.... and hands it to his great grandson. Engraved on the back are the words, "Let wisdom guide your Journey".
Thomas, you're a musical genius. Why does every new track I hear from you sound like something I have been searching for all my life and have finally found it? Because this tune right here feels exactly like that. THANK YOU!
Sometimes I forget how beautiful music really can be when you just let your mind get lost into emotion. Such a beautiful arrangement I just can't describe it. It's something you can only feel for yourself
Normally, when a movie is made, the score is written to support the scenes and plot of the movie. But when I listend to this kind of music, I can close my eyes and the music makes its own movie.
Wow... Merethe Soltvedt always makes me stop breathing in awe, now I heard this no vox version for the first time. That cute intro made me teary-eyed within a mere minute and when the beat from the vocal version kicked in, I was convinced that this is great. Those guys shall never stop making music.

If this is any world i want to go to this world. Such serenely it starts and as it progresses it makes you love even more with yhis piece. Its never old. Been 11 year hearing this. Such a wonderful pice of music. Love it, the calm but exciting melody. Amazing, gives me peace of mind while working. Thank you so much TSFH for all the amazing work you have done and still do.
no amount of modern songs can equal this brilliance. the orchestration is masterful. worthy of some of the greatest composers in living history. I'm putting this up there with mozart, hans zimmer, Bach, handel, wagner.
Amazig music! I see Brunnuhville was here. Well, we composers do all our best and give everything we have in our soul and heart to touch somebody elses heart!!! Like I try to...💙

At the beginning - Reminds me on Amazing Grace. It is amazing grace.
This song invokes raw emotions in me. I listened to it for the first time ever today while working out in the gym and I cried. Cried because of my mom who is sick and can barely speak. So emotional even as I type. This is no ordinary song, it is like a song angels would make.
@@imladris9114 Thanks, Alex. But mom's gone! She went to heaven peacefully in her sleep last Tuesday. She was 74. I've cried a lot, now there's no more tears left. Rest in peace, mom
@@phrancisco2847 My mom is sick with cancer and has little time left. I also lost my brother at age 26 to the same cancer... hang in there brother. They’ll always be watching over us.
I just got this album today, found the CD in the post box as I returned home. Best 30€ I've spent in a long time. The quality is amazing, every track sounds fuller and livelier. Enjoy this playlist, guys, but I can only recommend: If you like this album and you are lucky enough to have a few extra-bucks in your pocket, spend them for Miracles. It's a blockbuster-movie for your ears.

And thank YOU, Brunuhville, for the amazing music YOU bring to this world, imo you and your music are in the same line with Thomas' and his music!!!
I agree too , amazing music , I love love love it!
Wow! it is so cool to see a top composer of mine commenting on and acknowledging another of my favorite composers. Thank you too Brunuhville!
I agree, sometimes his music, as well as Nick's, are all that can help my brain get into gear for writing.

One can not simply describe a TSFH song with words.
Majestic
Yes, just yes...
Two steps from hell songs just tell stories without words, because sometimes we don't need them to express how we feel.

one word- indescribable

This song has gotta be used as a finale for a movie. It still remains amazing even 6 years later!
And after 7 it’s still going strong yet hasn’t been used as a finale… Maybe one day. We’ll be back in another year.
Soon to be a decade
intro is similar to test drive from how to train your dragon series
Gazing long and searching far
There! Up there's the Northern Star
Age-old compass, don't you roam

Guide them homeward, past these miles
Home to spouse and children's smiles

One of the best pieces ever composed by TSFH. This melody was created by a genius.
This kind of song make me remind the heaven like i been there before 😢❤
It's a melody that makes it feel okay to part with this world.
A compass back into the eternal...

Or is it because they missed the like button ?
