Same thing happened with my trigger happy 10 year old boy with his first turkey this spring. He asked "now?" I said "whenever you're..." BANG! 🤣
Sometimes as hunters we forget that taking an animals life is a tremendous responsibility. My hat is off to you Myndi you set your goal, proceeded to take the proper steps to insure a safe, enjoyable, hunt while caring enough to make a quick clean kill. Congratulations! We are all proud of you. Much respect to Greg and Andy.

agree 100 percent but there is also the emotion that comes with hiking with what seems like forever, calling, getting skunked, etc. then seeing that flop once you pull the trigger.
It happens and nothing is wrong with it. There's nothing wrong in having a heart for animals

Im kind of new to the channel so this is the first time really meeting Myndi if you will. She is definitely a sweetheart.
She's awesome! She has great values and morals just like the whole THP crew. She goes out in the middle of the night to help the guys drag deer out of the woods during deer season and cooks many many meals for the whole crew. She is just as big of a part of the THP crew as anyone. I was so proud of her this episode and so proud to be a THP fan.

@@chadfree5577 I Totally Agree Myndi is almost always there especially during deer camp. She takes care of those THP boys like they are her own. She has a loving caring nature about her that you can't ignore. She even gets upset when she wasn't involved in the recovery.

Myndi, I know everyone is so proud of you. I also know that it sounds pretty crazy for me to say it because we don't know each other, but I'm proud of you to. I'm proud that you were worried about an ethical shot and proud that you obviously have so much respect for wildlife. Those are attributes of every THP member and that's what makes this channel so special. You are all great people and you all represent what true outdoorsmen/women are supposed to be. But, most of all, the entire THP crew set such a great example for our young outdoorsmen/women. Thanks for the great content. Great job Myndi!

Great hunt. Love the back story. I met a guy through a friend and he started coming along with our hunting group. He is from Boston and never hunted or was ever interested in. Then he saw how we harvested the animals from start to finish. He was impressed at how we respect the animal, butcher and eat it.

The guy was giving his opinion on the episode and trying to say a few kind words to the bravery and compassion for wildlife that Myndi showed. Maybe you didn't mean to come across as an a$$hole but you did and an apology would be appropriate. Good grief!
BTW, saying all she did was pull the trigger is way off. Did you watch the video? No she didn't scout a piece of property. No she didn't pick the setup. No she didn't call in a gobbler. But, if you had watched the whole episode like you claim and have half a brain then you would realize the psychological process that she went through to kill that turkey. She had to overcome a lot emotionally and showed so much respect for that animal. She didn't "just pull the trigger"

@@thehunt3652 I was really nervous about people not liking this video because you are correct, my main responsibility for this hunt was to pull the trigger. I relied completely on the help of other people to get me a shot opportunity. I think people are liking the video because it's a little change of pace and it would appear that it's helping them remember their first hunt as well and perhaps the things that they felt when they started out hunting and continue to feel to this day.
Myndi, thank you so much for choosing to harvest your first bird, this video was very inspiring and as real as it gets, and then to follow with some history about you is super cool, I’m now 100% committed to trying my first out of state hunt to Tennessee next year. Awesome job girl
CONGRATS Myndi!! A lot of us go through that emotional time...First deer I got, I was 37...My grandfather saw me miss, over the years, MANY big bucks and on that day I was emotional because he wasnt there to see me get my 1st deer...CONGRATS again...

That's the sign of a truly tender heart, someone who can make a connection and bond with an animal as homely as a tom turkey. Loved how Myndi commented on Aaron's beard, then compared it to her bird's. lol

@@chocolategravyandbiscuits8418 Not trying to start an argument, but in my opinion tom turkeys are "well dressed". They have beautiful iridescent plumage. But that head is still pretty homely.🤣
@@ricksmith2134 I hear ya the dead head up close is definitely weird looking. I never had any remorse about killing them until the population started getting so bad, like she said. So I can understand it from that perspective for sure. I killed one Monday on opening day in AR and was honestly hoping he would win that round but he didn’t leave me any other option. “I don’t kill turkeys because I want to, I kill them because I have to.”
@@chocolategravyandbiscuits8418 I really didn't know about the decreasing turkey population in the southeast (and I hear AR has been hit hardest so far) until THP did the video on it earlier this week. Hope they find a way to reverse it. I'm from Idaho and our Merriams are introduced. Not nearly as much pressure, and even though I'm sure the overall numbers are pretty small, they've become a nuisance in a lot of areas. I still love to hear the sound of a bugling bull elk most, but gobbling Toms are pretty darn cool and I'm glad they're here and hope they're here for good.
I live in AR to and I have only heard a couple gobbles all year.

Any true hunter understands every word you said. As an older hunter, I get my biggest kicks just going with someone else and seeing their success and enjoyment. With turkeys, when I hunt by myself, I don't really care if I shoot one or not, but just the experience is enough. Also, thanks to you and the crew for the fantastic video work! Beautiful gobbler Mindy its been an honor to watch your first hunt! You were always a hunter in my opinion. I started hunting later in life then I wanted but circumstances beyond my control kept me from my dream. Once I was old enough to make my own choices and afford the gear I needed I took my safety course and the rest is history! Congratulations fellow hunter!
