If NATO used autonomous weapon to attack a country like Iran. It is easy to imagine the Iranians attacking civilian soft targets in the West in retaliation with their own slaughter bots. The danger of autonomous weapons is that it gives poor nations and non-state actors the ability to cause unbelievable havoc in rich countries which have been historically immune to direct attack.
Goodmorning everybody. I work in Boston Robotics and I would like to inform you that there's nothing to be afraid of . We will always install directives in our robotics concerning human life ! Ultimately yes the army will weaponise all our products and there's nothing wrong with that ! The future of war will not involve human casualties. In 5 years time you'll be able to see the work we've done and you only have to support our intentions and progress . I advise you not to oppose that . Kind Regards
The drones with programing for face recog, and orders to dive bomb the head, is very much something that already exists. There will be autonomus doodads and whatnots. There will also be quite a bit of user controlled. With various systems of automation. Collision avoidance on a level to make the android dodge bullets, as well as the display of real time projectile tracking, and identification, auto retaliation will of course be a switch. User controlled from Kansas. There is something to be said about this technology, that goes very far and beyond a military application. The ability to remove the biology from the enviroment we wish to go into is on par in milestones with inventing the boat as far as where we may go, and explore, and do
As a current Virginia Tech student, I am disappointed at the way that VICE essentially manipulated and defamed the school and Army research programs in this piece. The work being done here and at the DoD is saving lives by assisting the warfighter, and reducing the innocents killed in strikes. VICE instead is praising a hippie activist who doesn't actually understand these things, and creating more disillusionment on the purpose, ethics, and applications of autonomous systems.
Did you even watch the video? No matter what good work these robots are doing, they're also being used to kill people, including thousands of innocent people, many of whom are children. If you think pointing that out is 'defamatory', you're the one with the problem.

Robots are not gonna be reliable in war. Not until we find an energy source capable of keeping them powered efficiently and cheaply
They will also more than likely never be used in active combat roles other than support, such as EOD and or pack horse roles
Also not to mention making them cheaper to produce
@@steves578 That's a bold statements your saying robots are not gonna be reliable in war until we have an energy source, but that's just a matter of time till they perfect an energy source its defiantly not impossible and you say that its likely they will "Never" be used in active combat.Do you know something we don't I'm just curious as to why there is lots of military personal in the real world talking about robots being used for active combat and that being there who trajectory we already have robotic pack horses and exc.
This video made me feel extremely hopeless about the future... The very same future that has been algorithmically predicted by a huge super computer, knowing all possible outcomes, and will squash your petty uprising.
This interviewer is embarrassing, he's interviewing really smart people and keeps bringing up the terminator movie... LOL what a joke
The road to hell is paved with good intentions! The human gut feeling that one day it will kill us should not be taken lightly!
The ability to remove the biology from the enviroment we wish to go into is on par in milestones with inventing the boat as far as where we may go, and explore, and do
After seeing those robots walk i feel very Safe actually 😂
Robot power!
That was the geekiest battlecry I ever heard
