Thrift to Treasure - Taking an old case and turning it into a beautiful end table - Upcycled Finds

- In today's video I'm taking the old metal case from my last thrift haul video and flipping it into a beautiful end table. I took the advice from a few of my viewers that left comments that I should add legs vs. upcycling it into a vintage looking suitcase. My viewers recommended hair pin legs but I didn't have any on hand or time to pick any up, so I improvised and added legs that I picked out of the garbage and had in my stash. I absolutely love how this project turned out and I want to thank you all for watching and giving me such great suggestions!!

Love what you did on the silver case! Saw it in the thrift haul, loved it as original but this is next level girl!
PS those legs are so much more appropriate than hairpin legs.
Very nice.
It's beautiful color
love it!
So glad you put feet on that - I've got a suitcase and feet but wasn't sure how to attach - using titebond and brad nails will be ideal - then add the screw! Thank you for the how-to and your piece looks great!
Awesome!!!!!💗
That was so cool!
Your project was right on time …. Converting a suitcase to table and attaching legs had me a little concerned …but your tips helped a lot!!!!
I’m painting 4 pieces, a tool box, a chair, a bench and a table. All are going to be painted green (kudzu) except a pressbacked chair which will be a pink/aqua combo. All except maybe the bench will have transfers. I have napkins purchased for this purpose (decoupage) but am thinking I’ll go with the transfers. Anxious to start now that my gardens are planted. I may do an antiquing process, not sure. Thanks for the info since I haven’t yet used waxes. Now I know I can’t for these pieces. The two shelf table is basically two half circles with 3 legs which my grandfather made around 100 to 120 years ago. The glue finally gave way so I’m taking the opportunity to paint it. It’s always been painted because he made it out of scrap wood. It’s very crude, but my grandpa was very precious to me so his table is as well. He was 6’5” tall and couldn’t say my name with his heavy German accent so he called me Sissia.
I never ever thought of turning a case into a table. This is a brilliant and very, very fun idea. Cheers, Ivy.
This is so pretty. Turned out amazing. 👏 I love that your style is distinctive. Whenever I visit the Goat or Antique Up there are several booths that are similar. But yours always pops. Really enjoyed meeting you at the Barn sale. And I'm glad you showed me the new Whispering Willow transfer pad. It's gorgeous! Love it!! I haven't tried the new DIY cottage paint yet. But it's on my "to do" list. Lol. Looking forward to your upcoming live. 😊
The transfers really do take it to the next level. I'm really wanting to work with these transfers but I'm having a hard time justifying the cost. I doubt that I can even break even with the cost being so high on the transfers
Love this before and after. The red and blue are beautiful together. Great job!
This has to be one of the cutest flips I’ve ever watched! Great job Sonnet.
This table turned out great! 😍 Loved it!
I think the quote is kind of funny because I do a lot of riding out in the desert and they always tell us not to go off the trail because you disturb the ecosystem even more
I love this so much Sonnet! The red peeking through goes so great with the red roses. This is one of my favorite pieces you have ever done! You knocked it out of the park!
Love love love this project! Way to use color and am excited how you made your vision a reality! My girls are watching with me and we so surprised when you used red! 🤣. They are so used to me not using color!
You need to have more color in your life!! 🤣 I love that you all watched!! 🤗❤️
Oh my goodness Sonnet I absolutely love how it turned out. Now I will be on the lookout for a box like that so I can make me one. Thanks for sharing.
Love it!! Another fantastic job!! You're amazing!! I wish this was CC cause I'm deaf and I enjoy what all you create!!
Oh, Sonnet, I absolutely love how this turned out! It is stunning!
The only thing that I can think of as far as a carry case like this one that would be lined with cedar, would be to store cigars. I do know that cigars are often stored in Aluminum or Metal boxes that are lined with cedar 🤷♀️
I have a request. I know you work with DIY products. But can you show how all the paints, are they chalk paints? Where do they make the paints? The IOU's can you show all of them? Your brushes? Maybe a special show to describe everything you use. I would like to know more. Thank you fr your great inspiration and talent.
Thanks for another great video. That turned out so beautiful, the legs were perfect. I couldn’t find transfers on your site, am I missing them or maybe you don’t sell them?
Like your legs much better! I’m not into modern! 💜
😍👍
Your little metal case is a faraday case. Look them up if you don’t know what that is. You can convert your case into a Faraday case very easily and STILL USE IT AS A NIGHTSTAND!
I like the color of the blue better when it's wet unfortunately it dries so light
Thanks for sharing your idea. I think the bright red is not attractive though.
Love what you did with the suitcase I'm trying to get ahold of those transfers how can I order some? What about lampshade can that be redone with paint 🤠🤠 from Dallas Texas
I love the red peeking out through the blue! I don't know how I missed this video because I love all your makeovers and I have accumulated several suitcases I need to transform into something for my booth. I'm curious, since it's been 2 months since you put this suitcase in your booth, has it sold? I didn't see it when you re-worked your booth in the video.
Great flip! Could you by chance let us know what kind of prices u put on your pieces. I have been flipping items since I retired.
Loved the flip you did on this suit case, the colors are beautiful and the design was a bonus ❤️
Can you wet distress with latex paint?
Hi there, got a question after you put your transfer on the metal box, do you put a sealer over the transfers or after you apply then you just leave them? Thank you ❤️
What did you price the table at? I'm curious. Because you put a lot of products and time into that table I would imagine you'd have to charge at least $100
Do you need to use a sealer over the transfer?
