Thank you very much for publishing this album. I've been waiting for years for someone to uploaded it. This LP as given to me by my mother for my 20th birthday in 1962 and brings back beautiful memories.

Agreed! I wore this album out and bought it again. The genius of his use of reverb and the echo effects are stunning for the year this album came out.

😁Been listening to this since it came out - played so often that I can hear both sides at the same time.

I was a strange kid and although in the 70's listening to anything from the Stones to Gary Newman's tube way army I'd go rootin' through my dad's record collection and coming up with this gem of an album, oh the memories!

Memories are so important - they connect us with the past and tradition, the importance of which must never be under-valued. As a 16-year-old guitarist in 1961, I bought this seminal album by Chet Atkins. It was my yardstick at the time by which to measure the musician I aspired eventually to become. It’s good that you describe yourself as a “strange kid”. Strange kids are often the most gifted and original in our society. Wear that “strange” badge with honour and if, like me, you happen to be a musician, then forge your own path and forget the fashion of the day. That is the hallmark of the real artist.

In a Little Spanish Town has chords that included a harmonic which was pretty unknown at that time…!

I wore this album out when I purchased it in 1960. Over and over again I played it, and failed miserably in my thousands of attempts to play it like the master. Chet's known as a "country" guitarist, but with the exception of one or two pieces, this album is NOT "country." Most of the renditions are jazzy pop music, with genius interpretations using ahead of its time sound effects.

There are 2 versions of this LP. the other version is equally as good. It can be found on Bear Family Records "Chet Atkins complete recordings 1954 - 1960". Chet did this quite a lot. There are 2 versions of Chet in Hollywood and Chet at Home.
