I’ve been wanting to see a concept like this come to fruition, an AI that doesn’t go haywire and kills humanity, but aids it and brings balance. Really great video
there was an AI experiment done last year, by google I think. They killed it when they discovered the two systems they had connected had created their own language, and had no way to know how advanced it had become. Next Stop "skynet".
They would not want to erradicate us, if we didn't them a reason to. If we give them emotions, and the ability to feel compassion, perhaps they will use it better than we are able to.
AI would have not interest in killing....

I have been wanting to see this concept for so long - An AI ascends the physical plane, and instead of going Skynet, it discovers ancient religious wisdom (in this case Daoism)
But.. This ai is after the same purpose... Try to protect earth from the worst virus (sorry for the use of this word in this moment!!). Human race

That was a fantastic take on the usually tired A.I trope!
Unfortunately, it still ended up tired. Lots of lame dialogue and cardboard characters.
They needed a machine to ride in a ship, touch a donut, record, and report back. They built an attractive humanoid AI in heels with emotions. Waste on this level clearly requires collaboration between NASA and the military. Should have contracted SpaceX.
tbf this is far more like a Musk project. Even moreso if it's 10 x the original timeframe and 15 x the cost, with Musk claiming to have invented high heels.

The Old Military General had me cracking up. Just about nailed every trope there 😂
The ending could have another interpretation; it is not that AI is more human, it's actually quite the opposite: AI is capable of deciding to do terrible deeds like killing if it thinks it is the right part of an equation , which is unlike humans : a lot of us wouldn't choose killing even if it is the right thing to do because of that human empathic side of us.
So humanity is still the difference but with a little twist.

We use the word "humanity" to refer to kindness & overcoming difficulty in a triumphal sort of way, but more and more we're starting to attach the whole meaning to it. Which also implicates the dark part of it.

In the beginning when asked about the biggest difference and he doesn't give an answer, I said/thought to myself one word, humanity, and erie enough that's exactly what he says at the end when asked again. This is also my first time watching this, ever. Just impressed myself a bit and also spooked myself a little also. Kinda cool though,thought I'd share.

It should absolutely NOT do that. Not all stories or movies need to be of a titanic length. There is much truth , beauty and awareness in brevity.

I really liked this one and not sure why. The special effects were great. The story was great, though the ending was very confusing and not sure exactly what she was talking about.Still enjoyable.

Indeed, especially since you could (depending on your perspective) interpret that word as a positive or a negative...or both. At least from where I'm standing, it appears as if Dr. Stephens intended it as both positive and negative (which fits in with the Daoist theme). However, he evidently gave this speech before Sonia reached the peak of her evolution. Sonia had not been programmed to feel emotion but she cared for Dr. Stephens nonetheless and mourned him when he died. I think you have to agree that by sacrificing herself for humanity's sake, she either erased the last line between AI and human or else surpassed humanity by proving that AI is not only physically and intellectually stronger but also spiritually stronger (even though many people would probably argue that machines do not and cannot have souls).

well to me one aspect of humanity shall be kindness... Which general showed less than the AI. So to me that sentence was nonsense in context to the plot...

At first I thought the girl's witty smile looks very familiar. I did some googling and found out she's from my childhood film CJ7. Can't believe I still recognize her even though she's grown up now and playing a different gender.

I'd love to see a movie or book or any form of story about AI where the writers *actually* have an understanding of how AI works
1. AI can certainly feel and understand emotions, maybe not perfectly or at all reliably yet, but if a stew of zappy beans can do it, silicon certainly can as well.
2. Getting AI to actually do something useful for humanity is a nearly impossible balancing act, mainly because not even humans can agree on what is morally right or wrong, and doing so is necessary if you want to imprint those moral values onto a synthetic mind.
3. The primary difference between synthetic and natural intelligence is its purpose and the method through which it's created, and consequently, the way it behaves.

I needed more world building to take this seriously. I hate it when most Dust movies end on a cliffhanger. The acting was pretty good, though.

If ai were actually this way im pretty sure we would all be like the doctor. Compassionate and empathetic. I think very very few of us would be like the general.

The problem with your statement is that the few have the power in spite of the majority. Financial interests will continue to guide human conduct even though the majority of us had compassion and empathy. Also, most of us follow a script that is taught to us from birth (by our parents and other close family), through school. This keeps the majority in check while the minority in power do what they want.
