Ep. 19 "The Godfather" Star Reveals Why the Mafia Hated the Movie and Who Really Killed JFK

- Today's episode of "We the 66" is with none other than "The Godfather" actor Gianni Russo, who played the drunken, abusive son Carlo Rizzi in the iconic film. Russo overcame insurmountable odds to land that role: First, he was a child with with polio, and second he had never had a movie role in his entire life. He went from zero acting experience to starring in what many consider to be the greatest movie of all time.
How did he get there? Well, he would tell you it came down to his mob connections. He started working for Frank Costello as a kid and gradually rose the ranks, beating his polio and allegedly sleeping with Marilyn Monroe along the way.
After starring in "The Godfather," he became a successful nightclub owner in Vegas. On one fateful eve in 1988, he shot and killed a man in his club. The bad news, Russo says, is that the guy was an underboss for Pablo Escobar.
Among many others, Russo recounts the outlandish tale of going down to Colombia to see Pablo Escobar and ask for forgiveness. He says Escobar only granted him forgiveness because he loved the Godfather.
We discuss the mafia's involvement with various the most important figures and events of the mid-20th century, from JFK to Ronald Reagan.

His stories have been told with alot of people still alive, including a book he released in 2017. Nothing has been contested, and no lawsuits. And lawsuits are a dime a dozen these days. I think this provides strength to his story.

People have still challenged some of his claims . He said the mob blew the front gates off of Paramount studio . Michael Franzese has said he never ever heard of that happening . Russo made a claim about the late Frank Cullotta . That Cullotta and Tony Spilotro were at a club with him . Cullotta had said that was impossible as he was in witness protection at the time Russo had this club .

This is the same guy who claims to have had sex with Marilyn Monroe when he was 15 in 1958 after seeing Some Like It Hot hundreds of times. Only problem is the movie was not released until 1959. He also claims to have attended Grace Kelly’s wedding with “Frank and the boys”…. at the time of her wedding, he would have only been 13 years of age. In yet another video he claims that a biopic was in the works and being produced by Steven Spielberg and would be released shortly… I was approximately 15 years ago and it never happened. How no one has called him out during these interviews is laughable.
