This is by far the best 1st April vid on youtube....mainly coz its so believable that Adam would go to those lengths.....legend!
Have you seen this one? It's even better! czcams.com/video/ny2g2kz1aE8/video.html
Ikr it's so good!
schmampeproductions well, no, it’s not.
Have you ever heard of somthing called an *opinion?*
Paul Dima Yep! They're like assholes. Everyone's got one 😂
It took me a while to realize this was an April Fool's thing for two reasons. First, I didn't watch it until April 4, so it didn't immediately occur to me. Second, however, is that I can totally see the value in this type of training. My wife was an accomplished ballet dancer but had never climbed until about a month ago. She's a natural on the wall. She has zero issues with climbing shoes, having worn pointe shoes for 20 years, and her movements are fluid and precise. She lacks some upper body and grip strength, and an earlier torn ACL causes occasional hesitancy, but it's clear that her years of ballet work have helped her make a very smooth transition to the wall. I mean, she regularly flashes 5.9s at the gym and she started climbing a month ago! Go do some ballet, people!
That first shot in the ballet studio where it starts from focusing on the woman in the foreground and shifting to focus on Adam was utterly masterful. Really good camera work!
Even in an April's fools video there's a sly dig at speed climbing, love it.
I was waiting the whole time for him to power scream while doing some graceful ballet thing, slightly disappointed
I died when they put the shot of Adam holding the green sloper next to the shot of Adam holding her waist. LOL
Lmao that's too good
Same lmao
Pretty amazing that with all he has going on he still finds the time to prank everyone XD. Let's get Adam on dancing with the stars!!!
Lovely! And frankly, he could've posted that clip on any other day of the year and I'd have enjoyed it. There ARE clear similarities between the skills and attributes needed for ballet and climbing.
i havent thought that in a million years i will be looking at adam ondra doin ballet
My god I was so confused then laughed out loud at that first ballet shot, well done sir
I know this is meant to be an April Fool’s joke, but I think you’d be surprised at what ballet could bring to your climbing. My ex-girlfriend was a professional ballet dancer and when plateaued in martial arts she suggested I try a few classes. I thought I was strong and athletic, but the classes crushed me. By the end of my block of lessons my flexibility and core strength had greatly improved, and it brought a superb precision to my spinning kicks. Sometimes it truly pays to think leftfield.
LOL what an april fools prank, this one is amazing because its so well shot
This is priceless!
Keep up with all that awesome training, you elegant beast!
traded ballet lessons for climbing lessons many years ago. . Many great climbers sweated that game over time. You gain greater toes strength as well as flexibility & centered control in hips.
Meanwhile, I don't know Czech, but teacher yelling "Sasquatch, Sasquatch" may have had a point, Adam.
Notice how the dancers cast arms forward with full commitment. Strength emanating from center through fingertips and feet is useful.
This one is like in pumping iron when Arnold went for ballet lessons to work on his poses. Awesome video, wanna see you win in Tokyo
By faaaaaaaar the best instructional climbing video of aaaaaal times!!! The pure essence of climbing captured by non other than the supreme climbing divinity aka Adam Ondra! Poetry of motion, focus, balance between sublime forces of mind and body, serenity, grace, power and extasy of achievement. Bravo Adam!!! :)
I know this is april 1st but its not a bad idea haha!
Honestly, when I first saw Adam, ballet dancers where what came to mind when I was thinking when it came to his level of sheer athleticism. They are incredibly powerful.
Incredible.... actually awesome to see this chase to elegance and "aesthetic" quality of the movement.. which is for sure related at some degree to climbing skills.... Awesome stuff, even if funny
I didn't think this would be too farfetched as I've read that Vasyl Lomachenko (2 time Gold Olympian Boxer/Pro Boxer) has done dance and it probably helped his footwork a lot.
Despite the humor, there really are a lot of similarities between dance and climbing. I’ve spent quite a lot of time doing both. Anyone in either discipline would benefit from cross training in the other. I enjoyed seeing the parallels.
This rad! I did 3 semesters of college ballet as a total novice. It was so hard! Definitely improved my climbing body awareness.
Huge respect for uploading a rather untypical video on your channel! Also, interesting to see what you and your team consider important for climbing. New ideas are what brings the sport forward. Let's see how it works. Would be nice to hear more about Adam's thoughts regarding the potential influences or benefits dancing/ballet has on his climbing.
dude 1.4
your joking right
You have to be very comfortable in your own skin.. so awesome.
Masterful performance, bravo.
I love even when he's complimenting speed climbing, there's still a subtle diss in there!
The editing on this is superb!
"jump the stream!" I full on laughed. Good stuff.
Should have worn his climbing shoes and chalk bag 😂
Is it wierd that I dreamed about me chalking up before writing a classtest, brushing my teeth and brushing the hold on the sink? hm..
what a great video!
great edit, great idea !
The best video of climbing ever 😂😂 thanks Adam
Just loved it !
Congratulations on winning in Meiringen! :) totaly awesome!
Beautiful work tho. I agree elegance inspires efficiency
This is my new favorite youtube video
Best episode ever
best April fools I've seen in a long while, excellent job
Very nice video !
Very elegant, you should reconvert in the classical dance ahah !
Ballet dancers are agile, flexible and very strong. I see how this will help Adam in his rock-climbing.
This guy is a genius. Best 🐠.
Well done, Maestro!
I don't know Adam, this one seemed very serious! My girlfriend is a dancer and insists that you're on the right track here
Hahaha this is great
yet... so wonderful at the same time
Haha you almost got me... then I was hang on...*checks date*
Same lol. He wouldnt be the first athlete to use ballet for their training.
Grande Adam, sicuramente divertente ma non privo di verità!
I'm the biggest fan from India.....he needs to win in upcoming Olympics.... I'm his biggest support.,I will pray for you
I'm late to the party and I know it's an April fool's prank, but damn is this video well edited. Amazing!
Muy buen video !!!:)
amazing Adam!
I think this is awsome!!
hes so young, and yet a GOAT
Adam is a legend
Lo que veremos aún!!!🙆
its not impossible to think though, Vasyl Lomachenko did 4 years of ukranian folk dance to improve his footwork in boxing
all my life i never thought Adam Ondra would do ballet
Going for that gold!!
This is a serious way of training.
If I can suggest, after many years of climbing, "going up", I have changed sports ... "going down"...
You should definitely spend some time with an apnea course ...
The breathing and relaxation techniques that you could learn and practice would surely improve your performances.
Adam, you bastard! :)
.. you had me for a solid minute :)
Adam you all most got me there, if the climbing thing doesn't work out for you maybe you've found your true calling???
POINT YOUR TOES! (I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this cross training really did work, even if it is a joke, I transitioned into rock climbing from ballet because of an injury that meant I couldn't dance, but I needed something engaging and exciting as a form of exercise, and I think it's actually probably a good starting point)
Felicidades
I Love this
VAMOS BICHO !!!!
VENGA BICHO!!
So hilarious watching you do ballet!! Regardless of the end result the journey would have been worth it!
Michelle Hu fuck the journey, the gold counts
the fact that i didnt even question this for a second until i read the comments kills me💀
That was epic, by the way.
360 degree ❤
hahahaha fantastic, what a legend!!!
My hopes were so high
Wow. I like how open-minded you are e.g. to not only go to the gym. I suppose this is one of the things that makes you this amazing climber that you are
Have you seen the date? 😉
@@Haakka87 yeah of course :) but i meant what I said :)
April fools
THANKS
big oneeeee!!!!!
Hey Adam please let us know how ballet training went, and if it helped with your climbing and how. Please keep us informed from these "experiment" I think is pretty interesting and can make a huge difference.
Welll, hilarious but... it could be a nice idea, both sports really need certain elegance to execute the moves.
J'étais pas prêt.
Watching this 1 year later and I didnt realize it's a joke until I scrolled to the comments. I wouldnt be surprised if Adam really do this.
nice video :)
whenever an athlete starts cross training with ballet you know they at the top of the food chain
Wooow! I have to find a ballet school right now!🏃
Next up: Style ratings in climbing. This is really hillarious
best climbing movie seen
Good idea, I.....
best 1 of April joke so far =D
Lol I couldnt stop thinking about a clockwork orange when the music came on at 1:40 😂😂😂
Well he does do this, there were other videos of him attending ballet classes
Haha, I don't think this is an April Fools joke. Look at that focus! IIRC Ashima's dad was a professional ballet dancer. I'm sure he would love to train Ondra in the art of ballet.
Oh le con il a pris Edlinger au pied de la lettre! ;) Sympa e 1er Avril en tout cas. haha
Guys I don't think this is actually an April Fools joke.
They messed up saying this was a joke video. Cmon guys!
Darn it, I don't know if it is April 1st joke, but if you put a ballet dancer in the climbing gym, I won't be surprised if in 3 months he or she will be climbing 5.11
Fuck ya Adam....bringing true elegance back to the world!
I never realise when it's the first of April untill it's too late!
I actually thought he is serious and didn’t find it that much strange. If nothing, ballet can teach you to find body balance and some level of concentration. There were funny part like "jump across the pond" :D, but I would actually find a huge lessons to be used on the wall from this!
Well, the ballet studio is next door to his boulder gym and I know he visited more than once, so I believe it is semi-serious. I know, because I used to do ballet there and the ballet master is a very social person so when he met Adam, he immediatelly invited him to try ballet out.
Could definitely see him in Swan Lake ;-)
Took me a while to realize it was an april fools joke. Lots of world class boxers would enroll in ballet classes to aid footwork.
HAHAHAHAHAH not what i was expecting at all. brilliant.
@1:03 Adam trying not to laugh ... but I did
Watching this on April 8th... sooo confused. Actually believed it till I read the comments... haha
Believed that 100%. Almoat still do.
Why do I find this hilarious?
Hard to know if it's real or not. He has worked with ballet masters for Silence, so this is not far off.
Plus he's so fuckin dedicated, he'd totally do that.
@@Bemoderso granted, maybe the tights are a bit ott
