My budgie escaped the house once, luckily I got him back. But now I won't be able to train any of my birds to put on a harness because of fear lol. It's nice to see that your birds get to go out and receive some vitamin D! I absolutely love your videos Elle, they have helped me out so much when I started out with birds.
mine did too. only because she wanted the other birds. I pulled out a mullet spray and started walking away and she flew back to me lol. Usually she doesn't fly away though. I'll try the harness idea though. I have a bird Carrier for her as well.
@@idlezmiyeon thats ok. I used to have two budgies and I knew nothing. One flew away and one met a cat and let’s just say for the sake of me not crying that the bird’s life ended there. Rest in peace, cousin feather. Uncle feather flew away and most likely died. I’m really sad, but now we have two more budgies, Kiwi and Bubbles and they make me laugh every day. I’m not saying you should replace your bird, but I’m completely sympathetic for you and I suggest you just keep loving your soulmate. Eventually a new bird (or two!) will come into your life and you’ll love them too.

Keep up the good work. For someone that is young you have great knowledge on care for your birds. I refer people in bird groups to watch your videos. So many people get birds with having no idea what they are getting into. You have a good base and understanding on care and the importance of enrichment needed to care for these family members.

When I first got A bird a made the mistake of getting A small cage, dowel perches, extremely minimal toys that were made of plastic and metal, and plastic food bowls. But then I learned from you that I needed A large cage, lots of shredding and foraging toys, natural perches, and stainless steel food bowls. And many other things too. I have my own room that is now my birds room with a huge play top flight cage 3 tabletop playstands, A foraging tray and box, A training stand, the preview pet products small parrot playstand, A gigantic off pipe play stand a paper wrapped net like you have hanging in the corner with toys, A going and swing hanging from the ceiling and a standing natural play stand I made. He is a budgie and his name is Mittsukii and kinda consider this a "I'm sorry" for the mistakes I made. Now he is very happy and healthy and goes to the vet at least once a year for a checkup and however many times needed when he is sick. You and your birds are the best and thank you for sharing the best advice for birds.🙏🙏🙏

I put my phone in front of him, and he just sits there and doesn’t want me to take the phone away Edit: I have a tv in my bedroom now, and I have your channel on for him all day (except for bedtime), and he just sits with me or in his cage when I’m not home and watches it lol

Personally I don't suggest people use harnesses for budgies. Budgies are naturally super energetic and not as willing to stand in one place (on your shoulder) for a long period of time. Wiggling out is definitely a worry too, since they are so easy to lose due to their size. Travel carriers are my favorite to use for these guys since they provide enough room to move around in, as well as shade and protection from predators.
One of my budgies really enjoys the harness and never wiggles out nor does she want to. But, my other budgie hates the harness and will wiggle out if I put him in one. He’s never been able to enjoy the harness so I don’t use it with him. I think most budgies won’t like it but you never know if you’ll get one that loves it. Based on your budgie’s personality, it may love the harness, but it may not. Take into consideration of its personality and the way it acts🙂
@@zezmcguffin5190 I have a similar situation. One of my budgies is super cuddly while the other is only bonded to me and my other budgie but she is nowhere near cuddly. My girl budgie would probably rip off my skin if I tried to put a harness on her lol
It’s actually really dangerous to take out anything smaller than a conure, so unfortunately you shouldn’t, especially since budgies are extremely jumpy and skittish.
I agree with Parakeet World. What you could do instead is take them in a carrier backpack (there are some specifically designed for birds, don’t take them in a regular backpack. Also check for dangers in these, some have breathing holes that are too large and can allow your bird to escape.) or in a travel cage.
@@diyaandbirds It’s not the harness size that’s the problem, and even if your budgie isn’t as skittish as others, almost all budgies can get freaked by a few small shrub sounds and go have zoomies around, panicking because their space is limited by the harness. Most budgies I’ve noticed do not like being touched at all so even just trying to harness train them is extremely hard. Overall it’s just too dangerous. Mansi’s idea works great, but yes do be careful of which are safe and which are not.

Hello! Random story time- So i went to an aquarium which just so happened to have budgies! But they're were a lot of them cramped together, some fighting (roughly) over food, and two clung on to me. Not to mention if the birds were on the floor some lady would get a broom and swing at them. Some of them were really hostile and they didn't have much toys and perches in the cage. The only thing in there was one plastic perch with 3 branches and seed which might be the only thing they feed them.
I have a love for birds and I. look exactly like you ... And to start of I love watching birds I even have 1pet bird. I BEG MY PARENTS FOR ANOTHER and I looking at my birded future :)

You want vegetables, not fruit! Fruit is like seeds, candy for birds, the fruits natural sugar content is too high for birds. Vegetables, cooked grains,, and sprouts are what you really want!
