Break the Science Barrier is a TV documentary that I presented on Channel 4 in 1996. It argues for the importance, for society, of scientific ways of thinking. In it, I interviewed David Attenborough, Alec Jeffreys, who discovered DNA fingerprinting, and Douglas Adams, who gave a wonderful impromptu eulogy for science. I also interviewed a man who was wrongly convicted of murder because none of the lawyers, on either side, knew anything about science. The program ends on a more positive note - what I later came to call Science in the Soul.

HOWL!! Dawkins ceaselessly crows he has an inviable repudiation
of theism: "infinite regress". 'Gods MUST have a creator due to infinite regress'.
YOU FN COULD NOT MAKE THIS FOOL UP...HE COULDN'T BE INVENTED!!
"Infinite regress" IS THE 1ST LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS. There is no question
whatsoever Dawkins does not know the etiology of his God-killer: 'perhaps
Aristotle, Aeschylus, Hippocrates, Hippocampus'....he's literally that fn ignorant.
1st Law: "heat NEVER derives from cold....EVER...FN EVER"
ERFNGO: there can be only regresses in this universe. BUT..in the first
chapter of "The God Delusion" he stipulates that he refers ONLY to supernatural
gods. Thermodynamics is THE MOST proven of all human knowledge...Einstein said "it will NEVER be overthrown". IT'S NATURAL LAW...IT DOESN'T APPLY TO
      THE "SUPERNATURAL"...YOU IGNORANT PHUKKKKS!!

The hardest challenge for science to overcome, is to match the "science of social media".
It is embarrassing to see many young people turn to FB, Instagram and TikTok searching for answers.
Listening to influencers (only the word in itself is already appalling) is way more interesting than finding out yourself through education.
Science is apparently not sexy enough to gain any attention for longer than a minute or so.
Always surprising to see how many people decide against their own best interests...

Most of us Rationalists became atheists around the age of 12 or 13. Do you really think that all of these religious adults are just less educated than we were at that age? Obviously it has nothing to do with the environment. It is just genetics. Most humans are not capable of rational thought, it's not what we evolved to do. Those of us who are rational are just born with genetic mutations.

    • @PrivateSi

The problem is The Left have infected science and academia to such as large extent it became (proto) religious. Atheism got polluted by Scientism and Wokery, and its Humanist pretensions soon turned into Transhumanist Activism in the form of Transgender Activism..... It can certainly be argued the imaginary / spiritual transhumanists of religion helped cement ideals such as Eternal Life, Omnipotence, Super Powers, Animal-Human Chimeras, Heaven & Hell (TM)... Science and Tech. will make these real and The Intelligently Designed will most likely inherit the Earth... Neo-beings of Planet Terra... At least ye olde religions don't make their god-awful beliefs REAL.. As a Realist mainstream science is too full of SCI-WOO.. Here's a Realist's Universe (cut'n'paste to annoy people!).
      --
I've followed the evidence and the math and see The Standard Model, QFT, QCD, QED as a load of old fudge that obscure as much as they predict. Evidence points to single / dual field (depending on your viewpoint) consisting of +ve field cells (base quanta, +1) close-packed by free-flowing, compressible, displace-able -ve electro-gas, trying to be as balanced as possible.. An 'empty' universe is a ball of equidistant, stationary cells and gas..
      --
Empty field may be impossible as the universe may have a constant jiggle as it can't ever quite find that perfect balance. In The 'Beginning' (not of the field, but of matter) this could have started a Big Matter Formation Chain Reaction, as could a Big Hit from another universe. Cells were kicked free with 'Full Escape Energy', forming positrons with the excess -ve electro-gas left behind forming electrons. The far more balanced field trying to stay that way repels the imbalance spherically from all directions.
      --
Two positrons collided with 1 electron with the same energy from opposite directions to strongly bond into a Proton more than 2 electrons hit 1 positron to from an anti-proton. As positrons and electrons ALWAYS exist in pairs a hydrogen plasma soup emerged (instead of an anti-hydrogen soup). Only reaction symmetry is broken (as it should be in an imperfect universe, which all universes containing matter are), e_p symmetry is preserved.
      --
Each positron continuously attracts and each electron traps 1 quanta of surrounding -ve electro gas away from the rest of the universe so field with matter is compacted while voids expand... Dark Gravity... Gravity itself can be modelled as a field density gradient, but alternatively as a -ve gas flow gradient, with inflows towards matter, then particle centres where they collide with opposite inflows before spiralling out at 90' (particle spin / galactic dark matter replacement). On a macro scale spins are all over the place so outflows collide laterally in all directions, cancelling out their lateral force, leaving the inward, gravity force.
      --
When a charged particle moves there is spin direct bias at 90' to the direction of travel. This is due to more -ve gas entering the particle from the direction of travel. Spins can go straight to the inflow of an entangled particle, instead of spiralling out. Energy is conserved so a larger, external magnetic field loop forms.
      --
Neutrinos are a field cell displacement wave where 1 to 3 cells move forward 1 to 3 cells (or possibly .5 to 1.5 cells in .5 cell width jumps) before stopping. This carries the weak force. It has to hit a particle centre directly to knock it free.
      --
Particle centres obey the Pauli Exclusion Principle but their surrounding field warp do not and can superimpose on one another (superposition). Photons are a ball of compressed field that further warps the field around it. When a photon or particle is fired through one of two very close together slits their field warps interfere in front, forming 'wave guides' the particle focal point follows randomly. Other detectors destroy the interference pattern so the particle goes straight ahead.

Ever larger particle accelerators that do not, and will not because they cannot find any new useful particles... Climate Control Science that threatens to pollute the world while robbing it... 100+ uber-wasteful Tokamaks - trillions of dollars and Watts wasted worldwide... Deep Space Astronomy past identifying galaxies (and even that was not practically useful to humanity)... Then there's the hyper-destructive Nuclear World War 2 - The Nuclear Test War.... Your lot have wasted more than all the druggies and religious idiots on the planet, by a long way.

Unlike Islam and Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism have some interesting meditation techniques that do actually affect the brain/mind in a very interesting way that can give rise to "mystical" experiences. No doubt these experiences are explained by what a person is doing with their brain when practicing these meditations, but at least there is something real there, unlike prayer where you're trying to connect with something supernatural. Buddhism especially is quite compatible with secularism

Sure, but evolution is the only actual theory. Nothing else has evidence which supports such a claim. Just people making such claims. That is a hypothesis at best, not a theory. Evolution not only has evidence for the past, but can be observed in the present, and even manipulated to have an effect in the future, intentionally or not.

@SupachargedGaming In the teaching of different views of origins, it should be stated which proposals are regarded as theories and which are regarded as hypotheses or models, as is done in all other disciplines. A sound hypothesis or promising model may eventually attain theory status.

Is there evidence that more people are susceptible to rational thought if they are given greater exposure to it? Or is the reason only some of us ask scientific questions about nature because genetics has lead our brains to be wired in a way that makes that possible, or more likely, or more likely to trigger a pleasure response? Have studies been done on this?

    • @PrivateSi
      @PrivateSi Před 9 měsíci

There is no difference between rational and irrational thought when it comes to neurochemical reward. Some people get pleasure from debate whether rational or bull***t.. I can argue Science and Tech. are the biggest threat to Homo Sapien Sapiens, quite rationally, as an Atheist.... Rational people tend to be more prone to irrational mental episodes and depression. There is a strong correlation. Maybe they are suckers for punishment, or maybe too much brain-buzz from thinking burns them out. Clearly happened to Richard during the Plandemic when he went all FORCED MASS EXPERIMENTAL DRUG LORD on us... He's a CO2 phobe too... An NWO Preacher... COLLECTIVE INSANITY RATIONALISED.
      --
The Left have infected science and academia to such as large extent it became (proto) religious.

This episode speaks of the need to reevaluate the death penalty. To err is human, and even experts are fallible. Court systems aren’t the only ones that should be using brain, experts, prison systems, and primary care physicians as well need them. I don’t understand the same concept as handing somebody medication for something you haven’t even looked at. SPECT imaging shows PTSD, AAD, and so many other causes to the symptoms Doctors are treating with prescriptions that don’t work.

Richard Dawkins believe, he do not say he knows, he said he belive, he 's got faith. It seems that this speech is internal propaganda, those who believe what you said will believe what you say. That is not going to grow up any audience or convince anyone of different beliefs from his own. Fun!

In you video you have shown the joy in discovering "How of Life?", but not shown on "Why" part of it. We still have consciousness of what does this all mean, and what do we do with the time we have given is not quite offered by science I feel.
