But I do find it disappointing that while both speakers were castigating Islam and its civilisation and praising the West's cultural Christianity, they seemed totally oblivous to the Western world's complicity in the destruction of civilizations other than their own and what is even worse, their support for and propagation of genocide in Palestine. They seem to have also forgotten the regime changes and the undermining of attempts by Muslim societies to bring progress and development to their people.

While I admire Dr Dawkins...I do not agree that god is a delusion... The god belief is a very popular and effective way to control others. Just think of the claim made by every king and queen in history... chosen by god.... They were not bloody chosen by any god, but if you get gullible populations to invest something in a god belie, then the claim chosen by god becomes very powerful, since a person to refute the chosen by god claim they have to put at risk their own imaginary relationship with the imaginary god thing. This video itself doesn’t follow the scientific method. I’m not arguing for or against psychics, but two men haughtily projecting their own biases while referencing the “expert” is really no different than people speaking from their own various beliefs. Clearly there are charlatans who prey on the naive or ignorant. But science, of which I’m well educated and have been part of, has weirdly inverted itself to be the Roman Catholic Church of the 24th century - locking creative thinkers and new legitimate information out because it doesn’t conform. There are many phenomena to which science is difficult to apply to the problem, so science concludes “you therefore cannot exist.” I think it’s this gap in having the right tools that fuels a great deal of curiosity in people.

I’m so tired of these endless debates. The question in my opinion should not be “does God exist?” It should be “does the Christian idea or claim of the existence of such a being exist. In other words, an all knowing, all powerful being who made the universe and continues to watch over it and monitors and cares about individuals, unless they don’t believe in Him?” Why is the question never framed and argued on these terms? Because if you leave aside the Christian model you’re left with something quite weak and unconvincing, while if you go with the Christian idea you’re also working with shoddy material. As much as I respect Dawkins, it’s frustrating that he lets himself get drawn into this tedious hairsplitting with this absurd pseudo intellectual.

It isn't cruel to break these deceptions, because no one really believes them anyway. The ones who truly do are in the nut ward. "The God Delusion" demolishes all this foolishness in a wonderfully written, airtight argument. It's a masterpiece. If only the people who continue to bring up the same old questions to Dawkins would really absorb what his book says, they would see that it spares not a strand of BS. Since that book's publication--and probably long before--the case has been closed on anything to do with religion and other forms of superstition. Pending new evidence, of course, which ain't gonna appear.

Her assertion that people behave worse due to a believe in evolution cannot be more wrong. Historically speaking people become less and less violent as time and society progresses. People used to be WILD back in the day when they didn't even have a concept of evolution, and they were also less atheistic back then.

You think folks from these cultures would have run across the idea that being is an illusion, so any attempt to see the essence of a thing is just a retreat into your own mind and not a further understanding of reality. This guy is just absorbed in the idea that all is one. We already get that. We are trying to get knowledge, not a mystical experience of oneness, that is apparent and remedial. Everything this guy is saying is about our minds, not reality. That’s counter to searching for the shared reality. Spirit is also a mind projection, it’s us hyper actively searching for agency. Science realized, that this solipsistic pursuit is useless when studying reality. You need to take yourself out, try to find ways to observe reality without our projection. Focus on reality not yourself. That would avoid your narcissistic tendencies and faith that qualities are things and not descriptive of the physical world but just a mental abstraction.
